An army of zombie-clowns will rise from the grave and attack the city?

Calm down. Till the thing comes out we won't have the foggiest notion what this new headstone thing will do.

But its nice to ponder isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t it?

Can somebody explain to me why in this real world trading business they don't just trade the money that's been bought? I doubt jagex can really trace every trade can they?

runescape91.jpg
maybe this makes it eaiser for them to track rwt?

perhaps. but my god, the constant crying about updates gets so old. seriously, oh no merchanting is ruined! thats before you even knew the extent of the update.

nah people who make drama threads like this might want to lay off the mountain dew.

Well said. All people do now is complain.... If you dont like the updates, dont play.

And no, they will never take away drop piles. PKing has been here since RSC and they wont take that away.

I concur, I mean, Its not like staking hasnt been around since RSC #-o .

People complain, and they always will, stop whining about the complainers. Because that will only make you just as worse as them.

It wouldn't be my worst fear. But if you had to dig up the grave to get loot, It would stink if you pked someone in full ahrims and forgot your spade >.< .

lol one of the biggest pvp updates of the year, and tip it is discussing granite

I'm not stating that this will happen but simply by observing the drastic changes JageX has taken to prevent RLT I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of other compensation to killing a player. Ultima Online moved to a heavily item based system and added insurance to the game that allowed players to insure items with gold allowing them to keep any item insured but at the cost of 600 gold per item. Everytime you die you would need to renew that gold in order to retain the insurance on your items. Everytime you killed another player you would get half the gold per item that player had insured.

This was such a huge hit to the community and an exceedingly drastic change to the overall game play. It took months for the game to adjust and balance itself out. EA, the company who owns Ultima Online, felt that this was necessary to continue evolving the game for years to come even though there was a HUGE backlash from the community. Don't be surprised if JageX takes a similiar stance that they deem necessary for the prosperity of their business.

I'm not proof reading, sorry for any grammar mistakes.

I think that they are smarter than to do something so drastic.

I would have said the same about dueling two weeks ago. They've lost much of their former benefit of the doubt.

If you die while holding any items, you will reveal the fourth of our updates this month. A gravestone will temporarily appear on the spot where you perished, which can be read and admired by passers-by. It will even be possible to purchase increasingly impressive gravestones, all the way up to the ominous 'Angel of Death'.

It looks like Jagex really IS about to do the unthinkable. In their efforts to destroy real-world trading, this will be the end of player drop piles! Notice how it said the gravestone will only appear "If you die while holding ANY ITEMS". Most likely the gravestone will appear INSTEAD of the items now. Could this possibly be happening?

You don't know the gravestone will appear instead of the items, so why bother posting a thread like this to insight more crazy hysteria about the changes being made to Pking and Staking? I doubt Jagex will remove items being removed in the wilderness, more likely just another feature to show who has been killed recently. :?

As others have said, there has been many speculation threads which have been drastically wrong. Although it may be a possibility, there is no proof showing that player drop piles will be taken away.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
Think your wrong. Jagex arn't that stupid because by your theory, they would be taking away the Wilderness. But you could still be right, this is Jagex we are talking about.

Not exactly :-k It would still be the wilderness because you could attack other players but without the drop piles afterwards lol

There could be new rewards for pkers instead of drop piles, but this would certainly fit in with Jagex's recent patterns.

yeah...because then a player would gain something when a player didnt have to lose anything...i highly doubt that would be abused

p9793481.gif

p8170253.gif

I think the gravestones are just in addition to the drop pile... I don't think they're modifying staking... And I also think you're jumping to conclusions ::'

it's doubtful, but if it did happen then would need to make these stones worth something.

I think this is to stop PK looting...After you PK someone, the player who got the kill sees the item pile, and a gravestone appears to all other players instead of the pile.

That's the most logic I've read so far. ^_^

I hope they do that.

So when you die, to cover the shame of dying you can leave something to show you're rich to cover that shame :P.

Very simple, just as with last month's updates, they are making something to over ramp the update, and this time, taking away piles could be changed with the minigames that seem wild-based, as well as the new clan wars witch could possibly make it so jagex makes it disappear somewhat.

But then you have to think, Jagex has always been un-predictable, so i could be completely wrong. we will just have to see.

i agree with the creator of this thread

when i first read this i thought they would b there permantly and ppl could purchase new ones making a nice addition to the game

after reading this thread i now notice in the quote that the gravestones will only b there temporarily prolly for couple mins

so who would spend money on a gravestone thats only gona b ther for couple mins

if u havent noticed jagex now has a estimated price on every item in runescape. My speculation on this update is that jagex will tally up all the items u would have gotten normally from the kill and give you the gp coresponding to the items u normally would have gotten

yes u read right NO MORE DEATH PILES all u get is a amount of gp appearing in ur inv

another attack at RWT

Umm buddy? Wouldn't getting GP (What gold buyers pay for) rather than items HELP RWT?

omg!

*panic panic panic panic assumption before update assumption before update assumption before update*

no. This is very unlikely, Jagex have always held pk'ing dearly and I doubt they would do something like this.

So I guess Andrew never cared about staking then?

I said nothing about staking in my post so I don't know why you're bringing it in now.

He means that Jagex cared about PKing just as much as they did Staking, but you don't get any money from staking any more, now do you?

Anyways..

Jagex hasnt just been after RWT, they have also been after scamming, and unfair play. (Removal of Luring, Assistance, ect..)

I belive this this an anti-scam update more than a RTW update. Im sure theres something hidden behind the update and Gravestones are just a fancy way to cover it up.

As someone mentioned before, Its logical that the pile only appears to the PKer and eveyone else sees the Tombstone. Going by this, that means that even afer 60 seconds ONLY the killer and person who was killed will be able to see the pile. This means nobody could PJ and loot either player. You could PJ, but unless you PJ'ed with the most damage you wouldnt get the drop.

This sounds more logical and a direct attack against PJ scammers.

This is what I believe the update is ACTUALLY for. Not an attack at PK'ers, but actually HELPING them against PJers.

dawnsigblue-3.png

I think your wrong.

Reason being, They wouldnt take away the thing that 'Most' people enjoy about this game!

They would lose Money/Popularity, and further more, take away the fun.

How would that deter RWT? A mule with gp/items goes to wildy, gets beaten up and the buyer gets his gp.

IF the buyer has to go to a specific place to redeem the corpse/bones of his victim for the gp however, Jagex could then track the large cash exchanges that came from non standard pking items (stack of cash, logs, fish, etc). This would be detrimental though to a genuine pker who spotted a mule, killed it and got caught by Jagex̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s tracking device as a RWT̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢er.

Speculation on the gravestones, and their purpose is fairly pointless. Can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t wait for it to come out, I just hope it does not affect the way I play. I play to pk, with some moderate skilling to earn some cash for resupplying all the stuff I lose in wildy :)
