Our Worst Fear May Come True Very Soon!!

If you die while holding any items, you will reveal the fourth of our updates this month. A gravestone will temporarily appear on the spot where you perished, which can be read and admired by passers-by. It will even be possible to purchase increasingly impressive gravestones, all the way up to the ominous 'Angel of Death'.

It looks like Jagex really IS about to do the unthinkable. In their efforts to destroy real-world trading, this will be the end of player drop piles! Notice how it said the gravestone will only appear "If you die while holding ANY ITEMS". Most likely the gravestone will appear INSTEAD of the items now. Maybe pkers will be recieving new rewards instead of loot. Could this possibly be happening?

Think your wrong. Jagex arn't that stupid because by your theory, they would be taking away the Wilderness. But you could still be right, this is Jagex we are talking about.

You don't know the gravestone will appear instead of the items, so why bother posting a thread like this to insight more crazy hysteria about the changes being made to Pking and Staking? I doubt Jagex will remove items being removed in the wilderness, more likely just another feature to show who has been killed recently. :?

Well, think of it from THEIR point of view. How many people quit and cancel membership when they die and lose everything?

So, instead, they copy World of Warcraft and Vanguard. You die, you come back to your corpse and you get your stuff, whoala.

Ofcourse, the element of danger is what made runescape so unique and appealing and in their attempt to stop RWT they will cause even more damage to the game, but hey, maybe thats not the case.

I hope you're right. I don't think they will remove the wild, but I do think drop piles are reaching their end...

Not exactly :-k It would still be the wilderness because you could attack other players but without the drop piles afterwards lol

The ONLY thing that actually tell is that killing urself with nothing on in order to see gravestones or seem cool is a waste of time.

Dragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue

I think this is to stop PK looting...After you PK someone, the player who got the kill sees the item pile, and a gravestone appears to all other players instead of the pile.

There could be new rewards for pkers instead of drop piles, but this would certainly fit in with Jagex's recent patterns.

This seems logical, especialy when you consider other rewards.

You die, you leave behind a gravestone and no items - another way to stop RWT.

Alternate rewards for pkers - something like kill 1000 players and you get something useless that showed you kill 1000 players.

You never know with these things, but I certainly hope they dont take out the item losing aspect of this game.

Dang I was onto something then I contradicted myself as it would be lame. I'm not telling anyone what I was thinking... -.-

I can imagine people dieing with 10gp to see what happens. *This Drop Pile contained 7gp - He kept 3 gp*.

Well this would definitely be a good thing to most pkers. No one likes looters or pjers.

omg!

*panic panic panic panic assumption before update assumption before update assumption before update*

no. This is very unlikely, Jagex have always held pk'ing dearly and I doubt they would do something like this.

So I guess Andrew never cared about staking then?

I think that they are smarter than to do something so drastic. I just have to be sure not to waste money on a better gravestone, since I never die.

It might be ok to see the odd gravestone here and there, but it generally seems like a poor update. The Wild will look so spammy if they appear there. I can see it now.. you click to run away from a group of pkers.. "you examine R4ng3 Pwnz0rz gravestone"...

Ohh dear, you are dead.

*Thinks a bit*

This will be tied into the summoning skill. If you die you will be sent to ScapeRune and will not re-appear until a player casts a summoning spell on your gravestone. Lol..

I said nothing about staking in my post so I don't know why you're bringing it in now.

I think that they are smarter than to do something so drastic.

I would have said the same about dueling two weeks ago. They've lost much of their former benefit of the doubt.

Yep. In the place of where I used to say:

I "know" they are smarter than to do something so drastic.

I must now say:

I "think" that they are smarter than to do something so drastic.

maybe this makes it eaiser for them to track rwt?

perhaps. but my god, the constant crying about updates gets so old. seriously, oh no merchanting is ruined! thats before you even knew the extent of the update.

nah people who make drama threads like this might want to lay off the mountain dew.

Well said. All people do now is complain.... If you dont like the updates, dont play.

And no, they will never take away drop piles. PKing has been here since RSC and they wont take that away.

I would type up a giant spiel about how this update shouldn't scare the bejezus out of every Tom, Stan and pure out there, but...just read the quote in my signature. That'll sum up my perspective nicely.

Deny it all you want, Jagex definitely has more annoyances up their sleeves to combat rwt'ers. I'd bet my guthans on it.
