December 13, 200718 yr accidental post sorry :anxious: umm how can you post on accident, thats the most stupid thing i've ever heard OT: I think there is no way to actully stop all the bots, they will find new methodes to get money
December 13, 200718 yr Author as entertaining as all this is i dont think discussing rule breaking should be allowed on the forums. Talking about specific macros/sites is not allowed (even though anyone with a web browser and half a brain can find sites that tell you), talking about the way they impact you is allowed (as long as no naming names etc), especially when they screw you on one side and Jagex screws you on the other under the pretence of really intending to screw them instead. December 13, 200718 yr Author I think most autoers and real world traders will move on to something that makes money easier. There will always be some form of cheating, but no where near as much as pre-update. Bye lvl 3 autoers. Think about it - what did annoy you about the past bots and farmers? Check the options that were the reason you hated them (and I checkboxed my choices): [ ] The fact they wore plain green outfits as opposed to fancy outfits [ ] The fact their level is 3 as opposed to some other number [ ] The fact that they had wierd names like 199DDG0F4 as opposed to good looking ones [X] The fact that they were dishonestly controlled by macros/farmers and not real players [X] The fact that they wasted Jagex's bandwidth and loaded the worlds for us [X] The fact that they hogged useful resource/training spots [X] The fact that they flooded the market with artificially low priced goods [X] The fact that we have to suffer collateral damage from Jagex's fight against bots, such as random events or the recent updates I'd imagine your choices were similar to mine. We don't hate bots and farmers because they are lvl 3 with funny names and green suits, but because of the DAMAGE they cause. With the new update, we'll see bots farmers and won't even know they are bots/farmers, because they'll be controlling real player characters, with proper names, levels and armor. But these cheats will STILL screw the economy, hog useful training spots, load worlds, behave dishonestly, and make honest players suffer the "anti-cheat" random events and other crap we have to... It's just we won't be able to tell them from the human players, and so think there are just more honest competition and not even realize we are being unfairly competed by bots/farmers. Will you feel better being screwed as long as you don't see the actual person who's doing that? I wouldn't. Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?
December 13, 200718 yr Author Get a [bleep] job. (to the people that get paid for leveling account) That IS their job. That job probably keeps them from poverty, and definitely pays more than any other job they take. If you attack gold farmers, focus on the damage they do to us, on how egoistic they are, on violating rules, etc... But don't taunt them by not having a good job, because from their own perspective, they are making the best career choice possible to them under the environment they live in. Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?
December 13, 200718 yr I don't think this is nearly as big an issue as some apparently do. There's a huge difference in risk between trading some shady stranger money for gold, and giving him or her your user account details. Anyone foolish enough to try this can probably be caught and banned pretty quickly, and word will get around pretty fast as well. December 13, 200718 yr Jagex have already considered this. Their new detection is much greater at finding conflicting IP addresses and rest assured a permanent ban will be easily enforced. jagex claim to have considered alot of things, just look at runescape classic, they claimed to have state of the art macro detection, but they always sucked at finding cheaters, they'd ban 1000, 5000 more were created, 1 step forward 5 steps back in their case, and after afew years of NOT being able to detect these things, they were overrun, they claimed rs2 couldnt be macro'd on due to updated state of the art detection software, but look, day after day 1000's of bots still clog up the yew trees/fishing spots. Maybe their detection software is that state of the art again that they will close down rs2 to the public, and claim that we cant cheat on mechscape. seems like they've done nothing but talk out of their backsides the whole time, kinda reminds me of the local shop, where it had security cameras up and notices to deter the thieves, but none of the cameras worked and thieves kept thieving. .Former Level 3 Skiller Turned Main.
December 13, 200718 yr Powerleveling's been a service on those RWT sites for as long as I can remember. It's actually potentially safer than gold buying, because the RWT sites would lose customers due to complaints about lost accounts is they stole the peoples' accounts. Also, it's really easy to track the trades, but Jagex might not give the player an insta-ban for having logged in and playing 24/7 for a week or so.. Then again, maybe they would. :P But it's just about as safe, anyway. The sites don't scam people for gold, so why would they scam them for accounts? I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.Pics or it didn't happen. I hate my generation.
December 13, 200718 yr Personally I don't think it's going to be a major risk... No matter what the realities are with respect etc, I feel that players are going to recognize it as much higher risk, and also as it is essentially one account per person at a time, there will be a considerably less impact that autoers who probably have 20 or 30 bots per customer. Also from a legal angle there is not the issue of bot organizers paying with stolen credit cards, so it is not as big of an issue for the game as a whole. On a side note with the loss of allot of pures, stakers and merchants, alot of the old community who are more likely to use these services are no longer about. Obviously it's still an issue that Jagex need to watch, and belie allot of the old effort put into bots, has now been redirected... and they have also implied that their detection methods are very good for this issue... they seem confident that the accounts can be very effectively banned.
December 13, 200718 yr Do you all really think this is the end of RWT? I doubt it. Just google a bit for "respected" gold selling site. A lot of them state they already got a new way of getting gold to your account. Some of them are just the obvious macroing on the buyer's account itself, but some claim they have already found new ways to transfer money to your account if you just give them your username and pass (an example can be found here). Yes, some of them might be scams, but the RWT heavily relays on returning customers -or however you say that in English. I highly doubt we've seen the last of RWT. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
December 13, 200718 yr While I hope there's NOT that many fools in runescape to pay another person to play their accounts, I would rather have THAT then thousands of bots. One macroer can run dozens of bots, I doubt that same macroer can run more than 2 or 3 accounts at one time. And I SERIOUSLY question ANY company that claims it will farm you one million in gold on your account for a set price. Farming 1 mill for a set amount on a toon with 2000 skill total? Fast, easy. Farming 1 mill for SAME set amount on a new lvl 3 toon? Not so much. The problems RWT were causing the game in the past did not have a base in that they were abusing the rules. Though they were. The problems were the thousands of bots that hogged resources, then undercut ALL player gathered materials in search of gold to sell quickly. Having a few hundred idiots getting their accounts tweaked while they sleep is WRONG, and I hope they get banned quickly, but their actions will hardly have the same affect as the bots of old. December 13, 200718 yr Jagex will never win lol. The only problem with this one is the risk to the account being stolen. Although why would you want to steal an account when you can't take money from it onto another account, by means of either logging in on another computer and trading, or drop-trading. :-k Plugpoint92 : Maxed 15/06/13
December 13, 200718 yr Jagex's step to stop this. Ahem. Due to the real world traders now training accounts for money, we have decided to limit the amount of experience you can earn a day. After you hit your experience cap, you will not be able to train skills or even use them. This may seem drastic but it is there for the best interests of the players. Umm Hello? ECHO! December 13, 200718 yr Trust me when I tell you that anyone who's stupid enough to pay someone to take their account deserves the permanent ban that would happen within sixteen hours. (Even with proxies, there are such a thing as netmasks that all ISPs hand out. You know anything about them? If not, why are you talking about networking like you think you know?) (Even with proxies, there are such a thing as netmasks that all ISPs hand out. You know anything about them? If not, why are you talking about networking like you think you know?) Indeed, proxie servers can only do so much. There are ways to determine a ROUGH area where the original IP came from. And if this rough area is thousands of miles away from the last IP range that a player logged in from and not enough time has passed it would be an instant ban. And Jagex can always just ban players accounts from being accessed through the most popular proxie servers. I run a board, and I've got it set to reject ANYONE coming through using a proxie. December 13, 200718 yr This is not a new thing, It has been going on for awhile. I joined a Diablo 2 trading website, that has a runescape section, that has that kind of thing going all the time. Far from new.
December 13, 200718 yr I doubt people will be willing to give away their password for some RS gold, even if the seller will give it back. I can't see this catching on. "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
December 13, 200718 yr Eh, it's ok. If it becomes a problem jagex will make it so you can only log on from one registered computer per account and then we'll all be so happy since RWT is gone. Jagex will always be there to protect us from those evils.
December 13, 200718 yr Account training has been happening literally as long as I can remember. Not just in RS, either. It goes on in practically every mmorpg there is. Which means it's nothing new and unobserved by jagex. I doubt it's going to last long the way it is. I can't believe some of you haven't heard about this.
December 13, 200718 yr well with all these new updates, the real world traders arent just going to give up. There are always new ways of cheating and making money off it. I thought that the new big rule will be account sharing/trading. aparently Jagex can't detect the auto programs and bots or there wouldn't be these outrageaous updates. I think that the item buyers will give their accounts to the item sellers/bots so they can just do all the auto work on the actual account in bot form! get what i'm saying? If this actually happens I don't know how Jagex will stop them.
