New Quests

Today JaGeX has ever so kindly raised the limit of unbalanced trades to a whopping thirty thousand! But there's one small catch: you must finish ALL the quests, regardless of how difficult.

I just have one question, though. Will the limit be raised with future quests or will it remain the same regardless?

If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

From reading the update, I got the impression that it won't increase. That's just my gut.

My hope is that, after seeing how effective they've been at reducing RWT, they will increase the trade allowance.

Topical Question: Is there a cap on the time spent in Tears of Guthix mini-game? Similar concept.

At first I thought that quests were an odd choice in deciding whether or not someone was a bot; but actually it's quite clever. There are, to my knowledge, no autoing programs that can get an autoer through any quest. :)

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

They said "it will be proportional to how many QP you have", so my bet is that it'll rise.

We'll just have to wait and see...

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

Autoers do Rune Mysteries. But there's no way they'll do all of them.

Plus they'd start needing skill requirements of all sorts of skills once they've got beyond the beginner quests.

Heh, people have often asked for more rewards from quests. Now we get to unlock something we had a couple of weeks ago!

a bot doing regicide and roving elves LOL...

recipe for disaster? double LOL...

i think it wouldn't be a bad idea to remove trade restrictions (completely?) after you've gotten 200+ quest points considering easy quests only give like 60 or something quest points.

A million bots casting Ice Barrage would be... not cool.

I think that when Qp's reaches 300, once you get that amound, The boundary should be 1m. That's a pretty fair amount (even if for the steep requirements) and quests look like they're getting easier, imo.... kinda.

Just suggestion numbers.

And what RWT would go through the time and effort to do all the quests and get the stats for those quests much less. Usually RWT only have 1 moneymaking skill and thats it, it would be difficult for them to raise the others high enough.

What about the botting programs?

Yeah, spend like 2 months of non-stop playing to farm and sell 30k's then get banned a few days later.

I wonder how long it would take a bot to solve the MM sliding puzzle.. :-k
Well some websites *cough*Tip.It*cough* have kindly created Quest Guides.

Bots dont read guides, but it woudl still be veary easy. If the program was written to recognise each tile as a numerical value, the person writing the program could write a logic routine for it much like how a computer plays chess only much simpler. Of course the person writing the program has to be good at that type of puzzle.

Hmm.. I think the limit will increase with new quests, but still, im not getting the quest cape for a bit, and i dont really see what quests have to do with trading. :-k

The only things quest points have to do with trading is that RWT don't have them (besides a few very simple f2p quests), therefore, this is, in effect, a screening process, as

1. An actual human is needed to complete most mid-high end quests

2. They require high levels in a variety of skill, costing time, therefore making each bot worth more, as a freshly made character can't quickly recuperate to the "quester bot" status, therefore slowing progress on top of requiring actual sweatshoppers' time.

3. Time vs. money. It takes a lot more time to build up "quester bots" as they require an initial period of human control. Even after this, the profit margins gained aren't worth the money they must pay the sweatshoppers, especially given the large likelihood of being banned shortly afterward.

For these reasons, even with a raised cap, it would still be most profitable, from an objective business standpoint, to migrate to another game with less restrictive measures.

Edit: Really sorry for going so off-topic  I got a bit carried away. As for the original question, I'm betting the levels of trading caps will be proportional to the number of quests. After all, they don't allow qp capes to continue to be worn after new quest updates, plus, if they did require all quests to be done, that would ensure that the account was up-to-date, as well.

It was like pulling teeth for players to get them to raise it up at all (not that I wanted or didn't want it to, I was neutral), so I would assume that it probably won't increase much, if at all.

Also, I think quest points was a good thing to base it on, because that really can determine how (in some ways) legit a player is. (For example, a person with 249 quest points would probably not risk their account real world trading.)

Even if it increases it will probably increase just a little bit each quest and 30K is still idiotic. I would expect at least 300K for having all the quest complete.
