aglips
well, personally, i think if rares go down, that's a good thing. why? because rares are silly things that don't have any real value other than looking good/strange and maybe making/losing money. rares suck. You probably can't afford a rare and never had one. And you're right when you say that they look good, which is the reason why I have them and I hope the prices drop some more so I can buy a few more masks. Darthsidio1
If rares are indeed going down, and I belive they are, then all those people with partyhats and santas etc etc would be better off keeping them or selling them for the highest price they can. Or they might stake them and hope they win :P I myself am a proud Santa owner and I don't want to see them drop below about 15M

Did you thesaurus that word (pedantic)? It isn't really used right. It's more related to learning, rather than wealth. Ostentatious would be better. And more generalizations? Rares have sentimental value for some people, rather than just showing off wealth. Others genuinely think they look cool, more so in masks and santas. bedman
I dont like generalizations either. However, I dont think there are still a lot of people left whose rare has sentimental value to them. Must be a minority I got a partyhat and I like it. Yes it's useless, but what else should I buy on f2p? I dont like buying skills so that one is out (+ if I'd spend 200m on a skill, I'd be busy for quite some time, and I'm not playing often anymore at all). Also, I think it's someting cool to own/wear, because not everyone can own/wear it. It makes you kind of "unique" 8-) Btw, santa's are going up again buddies. I dont think there silly at all, they tend to look rather cool. Though id have to say the prices at which they have hit are rather high. there is a limited number out there but I believe people push it more then demand. I got my white at 155M mask sets at 15M at 30M at 40M at 50M Rares are a status symbol and a why to keep cash you couldnt otherise. There is a GP limit and once you reach it thats it lol Rare both hold value from that and keep money away for when you need it. Think of it like bank interest only you can wear it lol Is bank interest silly? no it smart, people invest in the bank and you get money back Win win. superson
Before i can talk about rares i have to explain what is happening to alot of the higher priced ones: All Party Hats have been Static for at least a week now, there are reasons behind this: >>>> When Jan 2nd update came into affect Jagex updated the GE prices to what they thought were correct levels. >>>> Jagex over estimated these prices quite alot - in some cases by as much as 20-30mil gp. >>>> Unfortunatly with the new GE levels people saw Party Hats as being overpriced so demand for them reduced to 0%. >>>> The GE system is flawed in the fact is does not allow for demand at 0% - If on a certain day, there are no sales on the GE for a particular item, the GE price levels will remain the same. >>>> This creates a catch 22 senerio where Party Hats are over priced but cant come down because there are no sales on the GE - There are no sales on the GE because Party Hats are over priced. ANSWER to Problem: Modify GE system by adding a rule where: If on a certain day there are no sales for a particular item, the following day the prices will automatically fall by the maximum 5% - This could even be increased to a special 10% reduction. Any thoughts about this? What if the same thing happened, but an item was worth too little? How would Jagex know, if no items were being traded? If they used forum posts about it, people could easily manipulate prices.[/i] In Soviet Russia, glass eats OTers. Alansson Alansson, woo woo woo! Pink owns yes, just like you!GOOOOOOOOOO ALAN! WOO! You got owned by the English language :P But seriously, I have owned a Santa, a Blue and a Red Mask, yet you think just because some one who owns it is "shallow" that every single person who buys a rare is shallow. And when people generally have more money in RS than they know what to do with it, they will buy whatever catches their eye. Let me guess that you have never owned a rare, or never had enough money so you are simply saying all this because you don't have one. 99 Fletching 99 Attack 99 Constitution 99 Cooking 99 StrengthGamertag: H8tebringer

alcoolj
what would happen if rares( blue p hat) went for the max amount of gp that could be held... would there be a market for them? A hypothetical question really. You certainly can't put in an order for 10 blue phats in one hit as you cannot physically hold that much cash, but the most expensive item (cracker) would have to tripple its value before the ceiling gp cap woul be met. jagex have plenty of time to deliberate on that eventuality me thinks. Also people would trade in small rares on occasion for large rares. There are ways of dealing with the money cap. As for any 1 rare reaching the cap, you can bet Jagex wouldn't let that happen.

omirzan
also, the prices of rares go up and down during the different seasons as well. in christmastime they are at their normal peak, but they have been going down and down, and nobody seems to know when they are going to stop. i have been trying to track the price path of the santa, but im in school so i can't see at the exchange. can anyone post the recent prices for all the rares and the dates when it was done? that would be nice. i think that the prices for rares will go up again, as new suits look good with it, and beasts from summoning can match up with the colours of santa hats. probably people will come back into the game when summoning is released, hoping for a redeeming update that jagex could come up with. d drops/ legs(0) chain (0) axes (0) skirts (0) meds(0)/ visage! kwarlord
Please, everyone. Jagex is killing trading in this game and there's nothing anyone can do about it (if they aren't members, that is). Let's stop bashing each other -- focus on the real enemy! :wall: Well, if you see Jagex as the enemy and hate what they did to their code, then stop playing the game.
