ANOTHER members-only skill-summoning!!

Featured Replies

the familiars for summoning really wouldn't have a big use for f2p. Most of the obliesks(sp?) are located in p2p places anyway. Jagex would only make a handful of them f2p if they did allow summoning both because most of the familiars are useful in p2p situations.

Yes, but they'd make more obliesks in different places IF they did.

Alright make summon f2p. Have fun starting wolf whistle and getting charms.

So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

Summoning is crud imo. Makes no difference to me whether it's P2P or not.

Jagex is a company with a lot of employees, that all need to be paid. Developping a skill costs a LOT of time, and thus, a lot of money.

How can you complain if you don't get something for free that is costing someone else's money? Greed.

You get what you pay for, quit whining.

I agree

Sorry, I too think that we don't need any more skills either. Most F2Per's are happy with the 15 skills we have ^^"

I think youre pretty dang lucky as it is. Most games dont give as much as rs does to its free players. You got duel arena, clan wars, fog, bank space, the holiday events every year, and way more. Members get new stuff cause they pay, theyre the ones that make the updates possible through their money. Yes, I know, f2p gives money through viewing ads...well its one penny. youd have to look at 500 ads per month. And dont tell me every normal player does that.

BOO

You're an idiot. Look at all the updates FTP has had in the past six months. You F2P'ers deserve *NOTHING*. You don't pay, what the hell do you expect?

jordangmsunset.jpg

What the cabbage are you talking about??

Like many others have said in this thread, F2P has received multiple nice updates this year, and next month we even get the new Graphics! Jagex has given Free Players loads of updates this year, and you dare to say that there's almost nothing new for F2Ps?

I'm fine with the stuff I have. Bank space is adequate, at least we have the GE, etc.

  :? That was a terrible thought. What if F2P didn't have the GE? (I know that's impossible :wall: )

F2P really shouldn't get duel arena or clan wars or extra bank space. They don't deserve it. But to get a whole skill??? Please. That's ridiculous.

If you were a company, would you give people who didn't pay free stuff?

If you were a company, would you give people who didn't pay free stuff?

For those of you too young to remember, there's this thing called broadcast television. Companies pay the broadcasting studios to play television shows FOR FREE for viewers across the country. In exchange, the companies are allowed to show their advertisements during the broadcast. The more popular the show, the more the studios could charge the companies for showing the advertisements because more people would see them.

So, while F2P may not be paying directly to play, someone is paying for them, much like some of your moms and dads are paying for you to play Runescape.

You get a hell of a lot more money for television advertisements (millions) than internet banners.

Take the super bowl for instance. It costs millions of dollars just for an ad to appear for 30 seconds.

jomali.png

Quite true, the scale is not nearly the same.

The point, however, is still valid. While the f2p players are not paying directly to play, someone is paying to allow them to play.

You could even further expand the comparison to broadcast TV vs. Cable TV. We'll use old cable TV, as I believe that the newer cable simply has too many commercials. Those who were willing to pay for cable, and able to receive it, were able to get all this extra content for what they paid. (P2P)

However, this did not mean that people who only had broadcast tv did not get updates (such as the graphics updates) nor did it mean that they did not get new content (new shows, and even, sometimes, new channels). They did, however, get them at a much slower rate.

There is also a growing trend of free community newspapers which are funded entirely through advertising revenue. From what I have read, these newspapers are actually of quite good quality.

So, getting something for "nothing" is not unheard of, as a matter of fact, in some instances it is considered quite normal. Also, I could argue that some of the updates which were passed along to f2p were quite simply sound coding logic(graphics updates), or that they were to control the community as needed(Grand Exchange) or to replace something that was being removed (the PVP mini-games).

Now, mind you, I am NOT complaining about the lack of updates for f2p, nor about p2p getting "another new skill". What I do dislike is the p2p players simply going "you don't pay, you shouldn't get anything". Mind you, not all p2p players do this so for those who do not, this is not directed at you.

For those who wish to know, I am, and have been, f2p. And I will also jump all over people who simply go "f2p should have this that and the other thing" without giving any reason beyond the fact that they want it.

if you dont PAY for something dont whine about what you get.

why does jagex have to go and give a new mebers-only skill. there is almost nothing new with f2p and they go and give more stuff to members. thank god that i just sent my members money or else i would go strangle someone :wall: :wall:

Cant really expect too much coming from the internets =] Its a cold unforgiving place full of stupid and hard-headed people. This thread was started by a person that knew his statement was dumb and is just tryin to get a rise out of people. If this person is indeed not a troll then he is just a mere child that lacks the cognitive thought process of "reasoning". f2p is quite fun and really isnt all the much different from p2p. Its just people want more so they pay more =]

stop being little girls u should be happy u can actually play for free most omline multiplayer games u have to pay to play

be happy with what u got

and why sould they waste there time on free players they dont make runescape any better its the members that pay for the game so they can upgrade it wat we pay we get back

Members pay for what they get.

You don't think that it'd be unfair if p2p payed £3.20 per month but still f2p got the same as them?

Dude, seriously, your not missing out on much. I find summoning tedious after you run out of the charms from the quest.
