Cool, I didn't know there was a TF2 thread. Anyway, I have the Valve Complete Pack, and I'm in the tip.it group, under the name [sGN] Gunny McShotgun. My original ID is will_holmes10, and my favourite classes are Heavy and Sniper. Feel free to contact me. :)

The flare gun is good for some maps, though, the more wide-open ones like early Badwater and Dustbowl last stage. But there's no defense against a shotgun pyro.

 

I love the flare gun! great to pop a shot at a sentry and the engy who is working on it, as well as snipers and infact anything out of range of your flamethrower. Even killed a few scouts running off with the intelligence, giving one of our own enough time to run in, get it and score the winning capture (it was 2 all.)

Another good tactic, and a funny one, is keep sapping the sentry. As soon as the engie wacks it off, sap it again. If you do it correctly, the engie won't have time to repair his sentry and the continuous sapping will drain the sentry's health. The key to this is moving quickly and avoiding his fire, and make sure there aren't many other enemies in the area. Doesn't work all the time, but its worth a shot if the engie is well placed.

 

I tried that today but I got wrenched. -.-

 

 

 

After every fresh sapper whip out revolver and give him a shot or two. Usually i only the sapper spam technique when the engy is turtling in a corner, so they can't dodge the revolver shot and they die after 2 or 3 sappers.

 

I haven't thought of shooting them. I'll have to try that next time.

 

 

 

Talking about wrenches, is it me or are they usually a one-hit kill on spies?

 

 

 

This is relying on the engy being alone and stupid. I mean when I play engy I'll just shotgun the spy to death then remove the sapper.

They really need to have a consequence for pyros spychecking their entire team. I'm so tired of spychecking being something any pyro can afford to do to everyone and everywhere. I'm not saying they shouldn't be effective spycheckers, just that there should be some consequence, so that you only do it when you're suspicious.

 

Maybe have it so fire doesn't ignite a disguised spy (he still recieves damage though, but the pyro won't know) and you need to compression blast them, which automatically removes the disguise and stops the spy from disguising for 5-10 seconds? Compression blast uses 25 ammo, current way of checking uses about 1 or 2.

 

 

 

I believe this makes it fair and even, the pyro wants to be sure, and the spy will have to hide until he can swap disguises if he gets away from the pyro. It also means that pyros don't go around spamming fire everywhere. If only the spy update hadn't happened yet, a fire [developmentally delayed]ant suit in replacement of a sapper would have been excellent and a fair trade-off.

The class balance is perfect, I rarely die from a random pyro and if that happens to you a lot then just use the dead ringer.

 

You are playing with me from now on. I was on a server and half the other team were pyros spy checking 24/7. They also checked in every corner and other places you would step aside to so people wouldn't bump into you.

With the abundance of supplies around the map, pyros never seem to run out of ammo. When I play pyro, I notice that I can go on forever without having to go to base for ammo because of all the dropped weapons and supply boxes you're constantly tripping over.

The only time I run out of ammo is when I'm blasting ubers around or shooting rockets back.

I have the batter's helmet and the soldier's stash. Got em through idling, but there's no point now as the server i play on has a mod where you can wear any hat as any class. Afro spy= best class ever.

Unfortunately, pyros don't stop spewing out fire after they kill you. Once they see you (or anything in fact) fall and die, they still fire a second or two afterwards, which will catch you on fire again and reveal your position.

 

 

 

Though I like the air-compression idea. Then again, I'm a spy. 8-)

I'm getting better as a Cloak & Dagger spy. It actually fits the way I play spy well, because I usually try and go for clumps of enemies as a spy. Like wait for their team to get on the cart and then backstab a bunch, or have some people run in front of me, de-cloak and stab.

 

 

 

But yeah, almost beat my spy record today (record is 27 points, I got 20) on egypt, which isn't exactly a very good map anyways. Still I was getting good at stabbing and quickly cloaking and running in a random [wagon] corner or something. It's hillarious seeing their team get all antsy and start spy checking all over the place, while you just watch them and taunt through typing :).

 

 

 

Also it always feels good when you see 3 (yes, 3) enemy snipers switch to razorback after stabbing them. :thumbup:

Pyro is awesome, fire + airblast + axtinguisher = beast.(No hats though :cry: )

 

 

 

Pyros problem is getting in close...

 

 

 

Any good player will completely dominate a pyro just by staying out of range.

Spy is better for taking out people, such as snipers, medics and engies (along with buildings.) Classes for capping are scout and pyro. I have played a game on 2fort where a heavy went in by himself and got the intel, and returned it without a medic or dying. :x
