A child of the 90's, this is what shaped my world.(few pics)

Born in '94.

I remeber a lot of stuff from the 90's.

Pokemon, Nicklelodean shows.

Great times.

I didnt watch cartoonet work because my mom wouldnt get the cable package for it, so the only times i could watch CN was at my aunts or friends.

2005 I got cartoon net work, before it died. Much of the good shows back then were still running.

I miss the old toonami though.

When they took that away, it was the day that cartoon net work died.

Im wondering there hasnt been talked about Video game consoles :o

Cartridge based systems in the old days =

I played PacMan and Pong on an old Atari system.
You didnt get a trauma/bad taste because of pacman?
Nope. Shortly after, I got to play on an SNES. Super Mario World, F-Zero, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, MegaMan X, Street Figher II Turbo... etc.

Whoever claims it didn't scare them as a kid is lying.

That show was great though.

Only a few really got to me. Namely the one with the guy and the moon. I can't remember any other details about it, though.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I just kind of stayed away from Courage...

I remember seeing an episode of Futurama, however, that really threw me for a loop. All I remember about it was that Bender was giving a speech about how there was no God and that really messed with my head as a young kid. Being young, I couldn't find a way to argue with him and I was like, wait, God isn't real? And at that time I was already struggling with faith and how the Bible could be some sort of evil conspiracy that portrayed God as the good guy when really the devil was good. But, I got over it. ;) So yeah... Go Nineties!!!

Seeing those images brought tears to my eyes. Of course I'd add a few...but, I can't take that trip down memory lane at the moment. Born '92. I will never leave the 90's and the 90's will never leave me.

it would be great if they would start putting re-runs of these back on the air, like what [bleep]e did with robotech, instead of constantly airing new shows. They were great and i'm sure that a lot of people would love them.

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

courage was kinda creepy and weirded me out, i wasn't ever really scared by it.

It probably was scary to younger kids. When they started showing it here, i was too old for it to scare me =P

Most of those shows are what I used to watch as a child as well. I also watched Magic School Bus, Kratt's Creatures, and Crocodile Hunter a lot. They would be starting as I got home from school, and I would watch while having a snack.

The shows I've seen my little brother grow up with are quite horrible in my opinion. I've been pushing him over to watch some Cartoon Retro station. The shows are a bit before the 90s, but they have nice qualities to them. Although, I might just miss my childhood and be forcing him to relive it.

I swear to God, I distinctly remember having almost shat my pants on no less than two occasions thanks to that show. One was during the episode with the tablet thing and what seemed like a mummy with a Klown (Spawn's main enemy) hairdo, the other was during this thing with a random little girl just sitting there, and just as Courage was getting into the room, her head does a 180 and she does this scary [wagon] face and screams like a banshee. They were the original masters of the screamer. /b/ don't got [cabbage] on the makers of that show in that department, and never will.

I didn't really get a wide variety of games to begin with, but I very distinctly remember two, which I think are my first two. Pokemon Red for the Game Boy, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the Genesis. I think they are the only times I've ever skipped eating and sleeping to play a video game. So much FUN.

Awesome experiment in surrealism. One of the most conceptually interesting cartoons I've ever seen, and me praising any cartoon is a rare occurrence.

OH S***! He/she/it is back!

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah, I remember watching Rugrats, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, and of corse, the majority of shows on Nick Jr. The thing about them is that they were funny, weird, and most of them had some good plots. Nowadays most cartoons are annoying and opposite of what 90's cartoon shows were (Although I think Misadventures of Flapjack, Chowder, and Jimmy Neutron and pretty decent).

This is offciaially my faveorite thread :D

Hmm Yu-Gi-oh is what I grew up with..

And Pokemon (Original episodes ftw!)

Anyone remember that pokemon episode with the island of giant pokemon? that was sweet

And also when they got stuck on that underwater cruise

GG.gif

transformers beast wars and big bad beetleborgs were gems of my very early childhood that i faintly remember until now when the names came to me.

I'm from 1992, and it's amazing how vivid some of these shows are now after forgetting them after nearly a decade. Courage the Cowardly Dog, Animaniacs, the original Pokemon, Hey Arnold, the Golden Era of Disney, TMNT, Ataris...

Blimey. My childhood was weird, not to mention awesome.

If I remember correctly, Courage was tiny and purple, and he lived with an old married couple, and I think one was called Maurice. It was strange and freaky, and I loved it.

They stopped showing it on cartoonnetwork like 2 months ago I think...

anyhow, they took original pokemon off boomerang ;(

GG.gif

They still show courage the dog on CN. It's still enjoyable to watch for the younger kids.

Just wait 10 years and we'll be seeing kids talk about The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack in this thread being awesome cartoons. Some ideas are just perfect and it amazes me that these adults stray from these earlier ideas for making cartoons. When will they realize that kids enjoy stupid and disgusting things?!?!
