RuneScape High Detail To Be Debuted At E3

Featured Replies

According to IGN News the RS graphics updates are going to be show at the E3 show from July 14 to July 17.

So we have at most 2 and a half weeks before the role out of all the promised new funky graphics. \'

Not a good idea. They're going to be shot down by many other online games in the public eye.

I disagree.

I think it's a good idea, because it will show how good RuneScape might become graphically to people that don't play the game and don't know much about it.

Lider_V.png

Lol, I never even knew they would debute their graphics.

Just got the account back, havn't been on for 644 day's. Use to be a old rsc oldschool player, but back playing rs2, which is why most of my skills are blah. Working on them ;)

I would hardly describe after July 14-17th as being "early july" as Jagex said the update would be rolled out.

Let's hope more people join RS ;)

And then again let's hope they are quicklearners

They should pull a FF VIII and show a bunch of epic CGI, to mislead people into thinking that it's gameplay

But seriously, I don't know whether or not it'd be a great idea, because it's become somewhat of a fad to bash Runescape for it's graphics, and it's probably a bad idea to stick it next to the other things at E3 for something to contrast it against :?

Luckily, Runescape is one of the only Online MMORPGs that are based in Java I know about - so regardless, people would probably be impressed by the graphics.

I don't understand why, though. Yeah, some people must think it's great for a browser based game - but they could do so much more. They're just trying to keep the file size low.

The graphics will be out by then, not they'll come out during that period of time

I'm 90% sure that you have to be 18 to get into E3

That's what I was thinking too, everyone displays these next generation games with the best graphics ever seen, and although the new graphics will be good (hopefully), they'll still be put down by all the other games. My hope, like HidHaeg said, is that people will recognize what it's run off of and maybe not be so critical

621st person to achieve 99 slayer on December 3rd, 2007

177th person to 99 summoning on June 21st, 2008

I doubt anyone will take any notice of them when new XBox 360/PS3/Wii games are being shown of for the first time as well as new gaming technologies.

People don't care it is java based, they'll judge it next to WoW, guild wars, and about anything else that people play. So I wouldn't be surprised if it got a bad review.

The real important thing is the people that already play IMO. But attracting new customers and keeping the old ones is how a company works.

I'm 100% sure the general public cannot enter anymore.

Sure there are games that will be shown off, that have better graphics than Runescape. But there are always smaller little projects that groups display at E3, like budget games for services such as XBLA or WiiWare. Its not like Runescape will be the worst (graphics wise.)

Well, it is the most advanced Java powered game and probably the most accessible MMORPG out there. With the new graphics, I can see many people being very impressed about what Jagex has achieved. I think that Jagex just wants to finally get rid of the idea in the gaming community that RuneScape's graphics are so poor that it's not worth its time. As long as they present it well, this would be a potentially great move to formally contend with MMORPGs like WoW.

This could be like miniclip but instead of bringing in immature gaia people, it will bring in some nerds who will get pissed off if you kill their goblin.

However, in comparison to other games, RuneScape will fail to them. :(

*facepalm* New players are no less immature than existing ones.

Besides that most people who go to E3 are business related representatives, and the others have great knowledge in gaming or are freelancers most likely will praise and be awed at the JAVA technologies they have.

Jagex is at the top of Java, even though E3 is for games or basically, Jagex is going to be showing off their Java programs and other complex, or simply designed Java based programs.

Or so I think they would.

I know. I've seen alot of players who have been playing for years, but are really immature.

I'm just saying that alot of new people tend to be immature. When I first joined RS (not from miniclip. >.<) I was a lil immature.

Bonus_Track.png

not sure how I feel about this.

The thread starter said they're being "debuted" at E3.

Debut:

- 1. A first public appearance, as of a performer.

Also considering companies have rarely, if ever, shown existing designs at E3, but upcoming games, expansion packs, updates, etc, not after they've already been released.

banner6jf.jpg

jomali.png

Oooh, it says RS3. Now there's something that it seems noone ever talks about anymore.

mememe513.png
RuneScape III will debut at E3 under a new name, RuneScape High Detail. Few details are known at this time, other than the fact that it will have a completely new look and has been in the works for a very, very long time.

-There is no Runescape 3

-There is already a high detail

-it couldn't possibly be debuting on the 17th when it's being released in early July

-Dunno about "completely"

-Does a year constitute a very very long time?

banner6jf.jpg

jomali.png

Hopefully they will just be showing the graphics off at E3 rather than debuting the as mid july is not how long i wanted to wait for the update

hopefully IGN is wrong (if you follow the link i the original post im sure youll agree the information in the article seems a bit...misinformed(as omali says - RS3?)

Not really sure jagex are gonna make a dent at E3 but who says there trying to, they are the best at using Java atm and i think there just proud of that and wanna show it off

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

Considering that now the general public isn't allowed at E3, meaning only insiders and press will be there, I think RS's reception will be pretty positive. At least within the PC gaming segment RS (with the new graphics) should get some respect.
