Zierro
Personally, I'm proud of all my achievements. Others might not be impressed, but I play this game for what I think - not for what they think.
Wachtwoord
You've finally achieved level 99 in the skill you're looking for. The forty thousand other people that got it before you see you wearing the same cape, now that's demoralizing. Facts is, achievements in big MMOs are inevitablely less valuable every time someone new gets them. It's something no one, not even Jagex can do anything about. The only thing left to do is aim higher and work harder on something more difficult to achieve. No, the problem is no more real long term achievementes are created anymore. Look at the updates for the last two years, which of those updates are really longterm? None. Hunter was maxed in two weeks. Someone got 99 summoning in a few weeks. No one can get full gold cw in a few weeks nolifing. OT: Could anyone post a link to that untrimmed summoning cape blog? When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
asianboy7o7
If you get a 99 just to impress others, you're bound to be disappointed I don't waste my time getting 99 in a skill unless I need it (like range or magic) There's so many players now that it's almost impossible to be unique anymore. I think the only impressive achievement item now is the gold 5-feathered chompy hat Ahem! As runescape becomes more populated more and more achieve these achievements, you just have to find new ones. I'll use cw tickets as an example. A year ago only 1 player had over 10k tickets. Now theres 6 people, and the first will probably be forgotten. It's how the game evolves. Unfortunately jagex arent releasing enough long-term achievement type things anymore, i doubt they'l ever release anything like chompy and cw rewards again as so many players would complain about how long they would take. Anything they release now is usually a week or two at max to do. care to name those 6 im pretty sure i know a couple with 10k+ not sure though

Fleetsy
Goals should be set for enjoyment, not for the fact that "I'm better than you now" aspect. Achieved 99 Woodcutting on 12/06/

I train skills for glory and personal reward - I don't train skills so that I can get pestered by noobs to do the emote.
blacksurge
I train skills that are fun. I have an untrimmed fletching cape, and most people think it's because I wanted a cape, but it's really because I found fletching fun (till about lvl 95, but I was close so I kept going :P) so I went for 99. Anyways, BBL OFF TO SLEEP WITH A RACCOON
LordBlk
i would just get a 99 for myself and not to showoff to the world. Not every1 has a skillcape and if u get 1 then another is just nearby. Get 99s for the sake of playing rs and not for the sake of showing off
meili
Yep. Back then when I got 100+ combat I was super high level. Now 130 is nothing much. It used to be when I was in any (skilling) area I was always the highest level there now every single place in RS always has a level 130+ or at least 125+. alphakoldes
Why most/some of you guys play this game for other people and not for yourselves, I'll never understand. -Man, I really do love Runescape, and I'm sure if it was a real person I would of asked it to marry me by now. Hevendor_Guy
It's only an achievement if you do it for yourself. I suppose my only true achievement is my quest cape; I'll work to keep that thing for as long as I play; and technically it can only get more impressive because of the increasing quest count :D. If you like your achievement, what does it matter what others think of it? I like questing, so I have the cape. If you do a skill just for the cape, not because you like it, where is the achievement? There's cake through here, apparently.

Triquos
I think achievements are great and all, they've definitely toned down for me personally though, because I thought, what will I achieve by getting all 99's? I'll only train the skills I like in the end... i'll never farm again... i'll never burn logs again... and I certainly won't run around in circles gaining agility exp... and so after I got 99 slayer i've just taken a break, doing whatever I feel like doing, without anyone telling me I should get more 99's. I think i'll train summoning to 88 for the unicorn stallion soon (currently level 87) and maybe to 99 to complete the l33t skill and get myself a baby dragon, i'll still wear my slayer cape over any other skillcape though, as I feel killing around 130K monsters is more of an achievement to me personally, than anything else. Until there's more 80+ level requimrents for things, I don't think i'll be training too many skills... it's a shame really
spyderownzyou
i'm going after very common 99s now, not to show off, because I like the skills, i'll still feel a sense of achievement like I did when I got my long awaited d chain (when they only cost 9.5mil... ) I was still proud even though 50% of people had one or said they was useless because I worked towards the cash and wanted one for so long You only live twice. Once when you are born and once when you look death in the face. Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...

Gravy
You raise a good point, I felt when I achieved my first 99 (incidently 99 cooking,) to be a great achievement, from then, I got my 5/6th 99, magic. It was all a kinda of... "bleh" moment. It did seem a lot less worthwhile. Follow me on Twitter!FORGET NOT THE CHICKEN.I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp.
