What are your opinions about it? I find that it's much more interesting and informative. The old tutorial was kind of bland.

ah i made a new account to go and do it and i found it longer and more boring, well maybe because i did it like 10 times

definately better at getting players game ready.

 

 

 

I always thought old tutorial showed you how you CAN do things but then just threw you in

 

 

 

The new much more shows how you SHOULD do things and gets you to know your way around lumby then intergates you into the mianstream game

I really like the new Tutorial actually, it's a good way of introducing people to the environment their going to be in without letting them venture too far. The 2 250xp lamps at the end are also fairly useful and can give new players a bonus in a skill they like.

the crayfish was an excellent addition, and i'm starting my first achievement diary which is lumbridge. :o

I wonder how many accounts were made yesterday just to see the new tutorial. "132 million accounts" Probably just went to 135m

Yeah completely useless other than the fact farmers can use the free teleport and the run boosts to gr8 effect

 

Oh and air rcers can use the ring to make extra profits

 

And the low alch is free mage xp

The new Tutorial was way better than the previous one, but being a non-new player I did get very annoyed at times when I was told to run across the whole of Lumbridge.

 

 

 

I liked the whole "Dragon Cutscenes" but somehow I felt that the Dragon was just put there to make the tutorial interesting. Its just really random for a 3 Headed Dragon and a Chaos Druid to be underground.

 

 

 

Ps: If you stay while the Knight is fighting the Dragon, would the Knight ever die?

You should be able to choose which tutorial you want lummy one or tutorial island one. Lummy one would be more fun and mainly for first time people in RS and people who allready know how RS work and tutorial island just a quick walk through all basic things, allthought as expirienced RS player I found that tutorial quite boring lol

I think this will bring more people into Runescape. I had A LOT of friends who were doing Tutorial Island, thought it was stupid, and quit RS.

I made new account just to test new tutorial, and I must say it is far more comprehensive tutorial than the old island and helps prepare new players for the game.

 

Also I like how your given next to nothing in tutorial, make your own axe/buy a tinderbox (or at least need to go gen. store) should make new players be more self sufficient, or we can hope :pray:

 

the reward lamps are very useful for new players, i rose 3 mage and 3 range levels without any training \ least it saved some runes/arrows :lol:

 

The only downside is that it is so long for a tutorial #-o

I'm gonna leave it there for a few more years.

I have not played it yet so correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the whole gist of it was to be more of a quest than a tutorial, which teaches the new players along the way. Very many games take this approach and it is much more exciting than "I will teach you how to fish. Take this net and click that spot." It's supposed to get the player into the game, as well as into quests. And the quest point and XP lamp at the end is great for getting the people some goals, and showing them that it's not hard to work and make a living yourself.

 

 

 

By the way, there's some new begger guy in lumbridge who's good for the new players too, as it encourages them not to beg themselves. He says something like "I want money but I don't want to work for money." At which point your guy will go ahead and tell him off.

No he eats food when at low health.

 

I think this one is much better.

The new tutorial is nooby, imo. More interesting than the old one, but it just doesn't feel the same. Now new players will enter RuneScape, leave the tutorial and say "Where's the barricade/guards/mine/fishing tutor?"

I with dismay I have to see the not yet sunken kingdom of Tutorial island drift away. Yet this new tutorial is really awesome. Ive tried it and I can safely say that I enjoyed it way more then the old tutorial island.

 

 

 

Jagex might make it a tough life for higher leveled players, but they sure know how to cater to the new players :

By the way, if you talk to Sir Vant on your main, he'll give you the 2 exp lamps even though your main didn't do the new tutorial. ^_^

 

 

 

Just offer to slay the dragon for him and he'll give them to you.

 

 

 

I used my lamps from Sir Vant and the Lumbridge diaries to get summoning from 12 to 22. =D Saves a lot of charms and shards that could be used for better familiars to get more experience per charm =p

You really need to od guthix tears.

Well, the tutorial mine is eliminated by an earthquake in a cutscene, so that explains why there is no mine any more, not sure if the Crayfish fishing tutor is still there or not, or if you can fish them later, must have a look.

 

 

 

You can still drop and get enough runes to do 3 magic (only one more lump needed, as they are given in 30's, not 5's).

 

 

 

The smithing list is not locked, so if you get enough ores to make 10+ bronze bars, you can leave the smithing training armed with a bronze mace and wearing a med helm - in the old tutorial, the list was locked, and you could only make daggers even if you did level up.
