Ah - this is not so in Europe. The further south you go, the cheaper and less formal eating in a restaurant becomes.

One of my friend's from high school invited my other friend (roommate) and me to his house on Tuesday. His parents are going to be gone and he wants to get drunk with us and his older sister's friends.

I don't want to go because his older sister is my ex-girlfriend. And I don't want to get drunk, let alone be around her and her friends while they're super drunk.

Then don't go... If you need an excuse, tell them you couldn't go because you were sick. If you say it was diarrhea, it'll be embarrassing enough and they won't think you're making it up. Is your ex going to be there anyway?

Dohohoho

But i kind of agree with what you're saying.

Omar, yes she'll be there.

Fortunately, I don't have to dig up an excuse. My older sister wants me home Tuesday night because she is having one of her work friends over and they want me to help them make spring rolls and watch Hot Fuzz. Something I definitely would prefer, lol.

It's funny, cause there's certain people I love getting drunk with, and others who I would hate to get drunk with. They say 'tippsy-ness' is very dependent on your mindset. I doubt I'd even really get drunk if I went to that get together simply because I wouldn't want to be tipsy, and that affects how tipsy you get. At least, so I was told. I believe it, though. There's been numerous instances where I've drank five or so beers and didn't feel tipsy at all, simply because the people I was around weren't the type of people I'd like to get tipsy and funky around. And there have been other times where one or two beers will get me real tipsy simply because I want to be tipsy.

Anyway, problem solved.

I laughed at this for 5 minutes.

K so i think i just did something stupid. Girl and i were texting, and i asked her "Hey i'm bored let's hang out" kind of not expecting her to say yes. And she did. And its 11:30 pm. Whatdo.........

Hot Fuzz is the shit. My high school crew watched that movie on average once a week. Ahh, those were the days...

As for the tipsyness theory, I feel there's certainly an element of emotion: control. Usually having a few beers with my friends results in me laughing, talking loudly, slurring, and bringing up really inapropriate topics/memories. In larger groups I just tend to be wild. But if I'm in unfamiliar territory I just talk to people and have the most random heart to hearts. Unless everyone is really uninteresting. Then I just drink til I lose the ability to hold my eyes open. So...I guess there's a small guage of control pending the setting.

Anyone read FML? I read FML.

This FML is relevant to drinking and being drunk:

"Today, my boyfriend introduced me to his family. They were drinking and having fun, so I joined in. I had one too many, got really goofy and then suggested the farting game. "Sorry, I can't hold my liquor!" I quickly explained. My boyfriend's mom shot me a cold look and said, "It's non-alcoholic." FML"

Point is, I think part of being drunk is wanting to be drunk. I mean, certainly stuff like slurring your words, lack of balance, slow reaction time, etc, are definitely caused by being drunk. But when it comes to being that "wild" as RpgGamer put it, or being "tipsy and funky" as Duff put it, or many other things that people do when drunk (act stupid, sleeping with someone) is more about using liquor as an excuse and/or explanation to do something you would otherwise consider socially unacceptable.

I'm not saying liquor doesn't play a role. To a certain extent, liquor decreases your inhibitions, as well as decreasing your motor control. But to a certain extent it seems like a lie society uses to excuse otherwise unacceptable behavior. (Not that people's behavior while drunk is always acceptable in the first place.) Also, a certain amount of that being "wild" or "tipsy and funky" I think just comes from the atmosphere of a party in the first place.

Yes, many people mistakenly believe that attributing your stupid behavior to the effects of alcohol is a valid excuse.

I have a friend who I do that pretty frequently with, like I'll pick her up 12/12:30ish and we'll just hang out at a closed building or something and talk for like four hours. Even something like that, which might seem like doing nothing during the day, can be a ton of fun at night, just because (for me at least) there's something exciting about being out an that late of an hour. Just a lot more of a...serene time I guess. Point is just go for it, even if you don't quite know what to do yet; I'm sure you can find a way to stay entertained, especially with someone you actually have a thing with :P.

If you feel like you absolutely need something concrete to do though, there are always 24 hour restaurants and such if you don't want to just stay at one of your houses.

In other news, met a girl at orientation last week who happened to be from a city about an hour away from me where a bunch of my friends live. Anyways, we ended up hanging out a lot of the time during Orientation and I got her number at the end of it. I then found out my friends from that city are having a bonfire friday, and now I'm hanging out with said girl for a while before that. God, I haven't even actually started college and it's already so much easier than high school was.

That's how my ex and I got started. My friend and I were in her room trolling her and quasi writing her poetry paper at around 1:30. We then called it a night, so I half jokingly invited her up to my room because we both had school to work on (I lied.. I didn't). We ended up chatting from 2-4:30. :D

Great girl. Shame she decided that she never wanted to convert. We should still be good friends in the Fall. Currently, I'm trying to hook up with another girl from school, but apparently she did not like that I "prank called" her when she was doing a telethon for cerebral palsy. I actually was completely legit and even whipped out my credit card. I wasn't even trolling her.. just being really mysterious. hehe

So I'll either just overwhelm her some more or back the [bleep] off until school starts in 2.5 weeks.

Working on max and completionist capes.

We somehow ended up at the beach. I just got home. I am tired. Jesus why did i do that.....

EDIT: Okay so we texted back and forth for like 15 minutes after i suggested we hang out. She wasn't sure if i was serious or not, and to be honest i wasn't sure myself. I managed to convince myself to just do it. The problem was we had no idea where to go. I told her to meet me at my house, i'll take her somewhere. I remembered the other night when we were talking she said she had never been to the beach at night before. I thought it might be a good time to do that since the air was cool from the rain earlier that day, there was a slight breeze in the air which meant there would be some subtle waves and the moon pretty much lit up the entire sky. She got to my house still not knowing what was going to happen. I told her to get in the car and i drove some circles until we got to the beach. I actually got myself lost at one point but of course i pretended to know exactly where i was. The drive over there was pretty awkward, im not going to lie. She wasn't sure if i was really taking her somewhere, or trying to find some place abandoned to kill her. But anyway we got the the beach, finally, and we walked down to the beach. Took out shoes off and walked along the sand just about where the water could get between the knee and the ankle. We started talking. She asked me a lot of questions about myself.

Girls here know that if you're foreign in Vero, it means that you;re likely to be in the Aviation College, which means you're likely to only be here for a short time. She told me that she liked spending time with me, and that somehow things feel slightly different. She's not the kind of girl to spend the night at a guy's house she had just recently met. I could tell she wasn't lying because her eyes were telling the truth. She said she's even less likely to spend a second night at his place, the very next night. This she also did. I told her a bit about my past, without getting into too much detail. I did not want to scare her off just yet. We spent probably 3 hours walking up and down the beach just talking about stuff. It was really fun, because it was something that i had not done yet myself. I told her that i did not want her to drive home alone, that time of the night so i offered to drop her off at her house and pick her up in the morning to get her car, which was still at my house. She said that it was a good idea because she was rather sleepy and was scared she might fall asleep while driving.

So i drove her home. As we get to her house she asked me if i would like to have some coffee before i drive back home. I said sure. So we go in, we talk while waiting for the coffee. When she gave me the coffee and we went to sit down on the sofa, she came and sat down beside me with her head on my shoulder. She kind of put her arm around me and we kept on talking. Few minutes later she fell asleep (good thing she wasn't driving). I didn't realise she was asleep right away. i was still talking to her about something and all of a sudden i got no reply. I picked her up and carried her to her room. This was kind of fun because i hadn't been to her house yet so i had to pretty much open every door till i found her room. She has no siblings and she lives with her mother so it was pretty easy to find it anyway. So i put her down on her bed and tried to pull the covers over her without waking her too much, but of course i did. I kissed her on the forehead and said goodnight. I was about half way to her door when she told me to stay. I stood there for a second or two thinking if it was a good idea or not. I decided to just stay. I didn't want anything to happen, and i knew that nothing would. So it was, we were just laying in her bed for a few minutes kind of having a whispery 2 minute conversation until we both fell asleep. Was a pretty cool experience.

Now that's a good night, Noxx.

This girl I like is killin me with her texts. If I wanted to, I could interpret them as 'best friend' texts, but I also could easily interpret them as 'flirty' texts. Just last night, I sent her a text since we hadn't texted for a day or so.

Me: "Hey, you're probably sleepin, so I'll just text you tomorrow. I just felt like sending you a text tonight for the heck of it, lol. Hope you're snoozin good :)"

Her: "(: you're seriously the best"

(don't mind my texting style; it's weird cause I text way differently than I speak or write)

I was talking to my roommate the other day, who had brought her up in conversation. And we were talking about how I know nothing about her current boyfriend; nothing good or bad. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt - that is, I'm assuming he's a real good guy if he's dating this fantastic girl. And it's basically against the 'bro-code' to flirt with a guy's girlfriend. And I've been doing my best to appear as a really good friend, but I'm always to [bleep]ing confused as to what she's trying to do.

That's the other girl haha. This one actually sees to WANT to hang out, and best part is i don't have to "beg" her to do it.

EDIT: The other girl has been really quiet the past few days. After Friday night she seemed a bit off. Sent me a few texts on Saturday late the afternoon, same on Sunday. None Monday or today. I think the last text i sent her was on Sunday evening. I'm thinking i'm going to give it a few days. Let her take whatever time she needs to take. If by the end of Friday i don't hear anything from her, i'll give her a call or something and see what's going on.

So Muggi, how do you go through the poly talk with a girl, since we've agreed explicitness is important?
