Poopingman
Older is better, without a doubt. Newer material is the scourge of the radio. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
Range_This11
Older music was far more inspired and less mainstream. Not necessarily better in my opinion, but it seemed to be more them. Lenticular_J
I don't particularly like it when any band tries to change the world or make a statement with thier music, but their older stuff was alright. Can't say I've ever actually liked the band, though. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
thered
well i dont think they r to mainstream exactly but i just dont really like them there old stuff is not great there new stuff maybe worse but that song about jesus or whatever was kinda good http://www.last.fm/user/wagonwheel4
Zierro
My vote is the same as Poopingman's. I was never really a fan, but I appreciated their older stuff. Now I just hate them.

Nadril
I enjoyed the old stuff, just because it had a much more carefree attitude to it. Their newer stuff just sounds like they're trying to hard to be a 'serious' band when they never were.
Millard
I never really understood what happened with Greenday, at one time they were a pretty decent kind of unknown band and the next there on the TV 24/7 and everybody loves there songs, when American Idiot was a [cabbage] abum. pfilc23
Definitely the old...1,000 hours was quite good. I saw them open for NoFX and Jughead's Revenge at the Wiskey in Hollywood in '91. They weren't even billed on the show and were added last minute (frankly, not many people were interested in them). They came out wearing matching lime-green leisure suits, which I thought was hilarious.
pryomancer
Green Day are the only band of which I like every single song and know pretty much all the lyrics/riffs. My favourite band, easily. Zeppelin follow closely, actually. Their new stuff is as good as their old material. They've evolved as a band, like all bands do. The old stuff is great though, I can just sit there and listen to 39/smooth and Kerplunk, I think the pre-Dookie stuff is great.
wasssup
the new stuff is alright, but i preffered the old stuff god must be a builder. his original quote said six days, he didnt finish on time, he buggered off, didnt make a good job of it in the first place, and he still hasnt finished. Intriguing
I'm not a fan of any of their music, but that has nothing to do with them being "too mainstream". Cool.
deloriagod
Everyone is going to tell you they hate Green Day or that they old stuff was the only good stuff. JeremyM
i suggest people watch mtv/muchmusic's "born to be" show about them. it shows a lot of their struggles through times and what the band is really about.
