My NCEA results are online :( How did all the NZers go?

 

Here are my results if you're interested..

I was disappointed about my science results, was really hoping to do well so that I can apply for science camps. *shrug* I can still try.. I guess.

I did worse in the actual exams when compared with my mock exams, which is unusual because everyone else seemed to do better in the real exams.

 

 

Geography and English are my worst subjects, and that's obvious in my results :P

And I received NCEA Level 1 endorsed with excellence (You needed 50 to get it endorsed with excellence, I think I got about 85)

 

E = Excellence (Highest mark)

M = Merit

A = Achieved (Pass)

NA = Not achieved (fail)

SNA = Standard not assessed (meaning they didn't attempt paper/absent)

How how did you get two E's in Geog and two A's? Did you run out of time? That's what usually happened to me, though I always found skills was the easiest so I always did that first. And 5th form English was the worst subject cos of the 5 essays in three hours <_<

 

I had to laugh at accounting though, at my school account and geog were on at the same time, in the class next to ours. Geography was the cool class with the cool teacher, and accounting was the opposite. The "punishment" in geog was to get sent into the accounting class for the rest of the period and get bored out of your mind. So I find it funny you do both :P

 

What are you doing next year? Apart from all three sciences...

Accounting and Maths. Oh, and english.

 

 

Uhhh, I just suck at geography and I guess I get lucky (I also got two E's in the same standards for geography in my mocks). I didn't run out of time, I left early in fact -- I'm REALLY bad at skills (I didn't know that Australia is a continent.. and I'm still a bit skeptical that it is!)

 

And yeah, kinda disappointed at English but oh well. :D It's so funny, because my formal writing was absolute [cabbage]. Seriously. The topic I chose to write on was about internet friends being bad for you or something -- I used "How to catch a predator" as evidence.

 

Pshhh, accounting is really easy. I spent half the time this year in accounting finishing off homework from other classes.

 

I'm worried I won't meet the prerequisites for sciences, and I'm hoping that I can submit in my science exams to get them remarked (haven't gotten my actual papers yet). Do you think it's worth sending exams back to get remarked?

Gah I hate maths. 5th form was really easy for me, but 6th form I did pretty bad in. It probably did help that I didn't study at all for the exams and couldn't remember a thing... I passed 3 out of 4 by answering the first page.

 

What's wrong with your science marks? Do you have high prerequisites for 6th form science at your school? I thought you could just do whatever?

 

As for resubmitting them, I think it costs like $10 a paper or something, so you'd best check it carefully, I know teachers at my school offered to check your papers if you thought something was wrong with them. Thought I never got any of my stuff rechecked, I didn't really care enough. In my opinion, 5th form NCEA doesn't really matter that much, escpecially if you plan to go on and study at a higher level. Although I guess it probably does get you used to exams and study and learning etc... Ahh I dunno.

 

Hmm accounting was funny cos all the people in there sat their quietly, only asking each other if they got X number for Y collumn...It was true tourture comming from Geog.

Thanks for advice, I'll only resubmit if there really is something wrong with it. And yeah.. I don't really care about NCEA Level 1, I'm just worried about NCEA Level 2. I better study more next year. >_<

And by the way, 20 minutes hitting your knee? 20 minutes?

You must be reee-heeeally bored...

You can't have your knee rest on something - it has to be slightly elevated.

 

Yeah, like 20 minutes. Did it in like 30 second sequences, switching between left and right and different positions. Nothing happened. :wall:

At my school you need 80 to pass, But you really only need 60 credits because 20 get passed on from NCEA level 1, So i really got 79 credits then 20 from last year (if that makes sense)

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine, an M and an E are good. And I don't think it matters that much, even if you failed you could probably apply and still get in.

Hahah does it really matter that much? And aren't you supposed to have a doctor do it? With a mallet kind of device? Suppose I should ask my stepdad...

I've never had any reflex really when the doctor hit my knee so I just faked it. I didn't die, so I assume it's not a huge deal.

And you need to give a quick and hard karate chop to that ... hole under your knee. I don't know how to describe it, but if you feel around your knee, directly underneath the ball shaped bone (whatever that's called) is a sort of groove where you can karate chop your hand into. Do it quick and hard, if it doesn't work, do it harder. :D

Patella? Wow how did you pass bio? Hah jokes... I don't think you have to do that until 6th form...

 

Do doctors even that stuff anymore? I've never had it done, not that I've been to a "proper" doctor for years and years.

Hole under my knee ? What the hell ? I've got these hollow points on the side, but I had no idea what you're talking about. I'm hitting it with the underside of a stapler. There's this small twitchy feeling, behind my knee, but other than that nothing. It's not even moving forward like it's supposed to, it's moving back from the hit. :unsure:

This is the maths exam where I got merit. Geometric reasoning, any other subject you want a go at?

Okay, I think it moved forward a few times. But maybe because I "wanted" it to. I'm going to just give up now.

I'm kinda surprised I only got A in carbon chemistry, the questions still appear relatively easy to me right now... Oh well, I'll wait for my actual booklets to be sent to me, and then I'll be able to see where I mucked up!

 

Oh yeah, no one in my year at my school had been taught about the mass of an atom, so everyone was basically screwed on the first question.

 

But hrm, I really wonder what I did wrong..

Wow, even though Chemistry/Organic chemistry is my weak subject, that exam looks pretty advanced. Do they teach you electron pushing, molecular orbitals and all the underlying stuff in reactions and compounds? Because if so, that's University-level stuff... :shock:

Nope.. have no idea what you're talking about Sounds interesting though :)

And haven't you noticed, there are like 3 questions in every paper!!! If you skip one question.. you're basically screwed :S

 

And yeah Adrenal, we get our booklets sent to us, I think New Zealand is the only country to do so.

Today I realized how average my life was. I woke up, ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, took the bus to school, slept through my classes, came home, did some homework, and I'm about to go to sleep. This happens to me every day :mellow:

Courses starting up again tomorrow, meh.

Today was my day off, and since I've spent my last days off hanging out with friends I just played Runescape all day. 13 hours of work tomorrow. (Morning shift leader has a court date, and I'm the night manager so >.> )

Pretty ugly, I must admit. But I'm 6'5", and my boss is 6'4" and he used to have one, said he fit fine. So heheh hopefully it'll work out. Buying cars for tall people that aren't SUVS is hard :(

I dont think they actually teach what you've mentioned, because I had a look at the "outcomes" [very similar to ours] and that's not required [for New Zealand]. What you say is uni level, we've done in Year 11, some parts in the beginning of Year 12. Where did you get the idea that you need "electron pushing", molecular orbitals etc ...

 

I've had a look at the courses and stuff offered and how it's structured, and it's much much better than Australia's system

.

There are a [bleep]load of courses and the credit stuff is better than our Highly Screwed Chance. There's like hundred of different "courses" instead of our only 25-30 which you do over two years. Whereas in NZ, more courses, segregated, and over a longer period. It's much more broken down, which is better.

 

Funnily enough, some of the stuff that they're doing now we did much later, and vice versa. For example that carbon chemistry section contains stuff I did over 10-11.
