What is the point of drinking?

It varies from person to person. I do out of my own curiosity about the causality behind the human psych. Kind of like why astronauts venture into outer space or why divers go leagues and leagues below the surface of the sea - the pursuit of knowledge. Also, I play Halo better when I'm sloppily drunk off gin.

Drinking does not mean you want to get drunk. Maybe for some people, but I would never want to get drunk. But would I drink? Course - I already do. Do I get drunk? NO.

I have my TIF back <3

you guys missed me going to a concert, almost hooking up with my friend's ex, flipping on a professor, getting a raise AND now I'm only 7 cards short of my ideal yugioh deck :D

What concert?

Alesana headlined for A Skylit Drive, Sleeping With Sirens, Attila, Memphis May Fire and Serianna.

A Skylit Drive is impressive live, i don't care what music you listen to.

Ah, I wanted to go to that concert, but when that tour eventually comes here it's two days after I see Skrillex and two concerts in 3 nights is a bit much money and time for me.

I actually saw A Skylit Drive a few months back with Underoath. I didn't really listen to them at the time so I didn't really have an opinion.

Was Attila good?

Attila was great, played alot of stuff from the Rage album, the pit was absolutely commanded by this modestly large scene chick that knew all the words. Their performance was good, but their image threw me for a loop. The vocalist looks like he's older than my dad and the drummer is some nerdy ass 30 year old white boy. Were you talking about the Rock Yourself to Sleep tour? cause that's what I went to, but the Allstars Tour was practically the same bands.

I'm also insanely jealous of your Skrillex tickets. I really wanted to go but $100/ticket was a bit much. My buddy's taking his girlfriend there.

Ah, okay. So I meant last night I got tipsy.

I never want to get drunk. A buzz is perfect.

Occasionally I like being black out drunk. But ideally I go for that numb drunk where balance is as real as the flying spaghetti monster, my head goes light, and I no longer control my tongue. That's when [cabbage] gets fun.

Well since we're on the subject of drinking. I don't see what's wrong with drinking as long as you aren't being obnoxious and annyonig/harming other people. I usually start out drinking with the goal of just getting tipsy, but once I get to tipsy I always think "Eh, what harm could one more shot do?". Next thing I know I've had 5-6 more shots and I'm completely drunk. Lately I've just been drinking by myself, or with my brother, his gf, a close friend, and his gf, so it doesn't matter if I make a fool of myself while I'm drunk. I'm close to all of them so I don't care if they laugh at me, and I know they won't lose any respect for me if I get super drunk and do something stupid because they all do it too.

I'm My_Eggs. After the forum was hacked I couldn't remember what email I signed up with so I just made a new account.

I got drunk once...and its not pretty, even though the next day I didn;t have a hang over... just a small headache.

It's sad to say, but I am a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. I prefer mikes hard lemonaid for my drink. For beer, I like heineken but to be honest I dislike beer. For liquor I LOVE vodka, it was the first bit of alcohol I ever had.

What skull said before he went to college, then started posting way more frequently than before.

what i've been saying on and off for the past year and a half. you'll probably be back soon

To be fair, I didn't say I was leaving, just that I was probably going to post a lot less. I just didn't take into account that a lot of college is sitting around doing nothing.

Also, thanks to the lovely Tripsis for fixing my TIF. And congratulations Tim.

Whoa, what's with all the drinking haters?

Sometimes its fun to have something to loosen you up. For me, I don't normally like interacting with people I don't know, or a large group (where large group is pretty much anything more than me + 3). I can do it, but its not fun and I have a tendency to go into 'background hermit' mode. Give me a couple shots of vodka and I can sit down next to someone I have never met, and strike up a nice conversation. For me, a drink just shuts off that part of the brain that's constantly afraid your going to make a fool of yourself, and lets me take some chances. I've never blacked out, got a hangover, or done anything I regretted later (so far as I know. I have lost an hour or two on a couple of occasions, and apparently once spent an hour rolling around on my computer chair at 1am).

And you have to admit. Pretty much the funniest stories about anyone are stupid/crazy things they did while blitzed off their ass

My grandfather was an abusive alcoholic that beat his wife and children, my uncle killed a man while drunk, and another uncle died in a car accident while he was drunk.

Needless to say, alcohol and I are not friends.

I don't have a problem with people drinking casually, but getting drunk is a different story completely.

How much of that is a problem with the alcohol, as opposed to the personality?

It is the alcohol. Those in my family who don't drink are normal people, even the most redneck ones.

I think my late night walks to Walmart need to stop. When I was a child I occasionally stole small things and enjoyed it a lot. It gave me a rush, but as I've grown up a bit I haven't stolen anything in years (not since I was 9 or so). When I'm out walking on the street at 3 a.m. though, that feeling of wanting to steal comes back to me. As I walk past houses I look into the windows where there is a dim light and I'm able to see what is in the room. The thought of imagining being inside someone's house and taking things brings that rush back. I get light headed and feel like I could pull it off.

Last night on my walk to Walmart I found myself turning into a driveway that had no car in it and all of the lights in the house turned off. I stopped about two steps into the driveway and asked myself what the hell I was doing. I thought it over and continued on my way to Walmart, deciding it was a bad idea since I had no gloves to cover my finger prints, nothing to hide my face, and was not prepared in any way.

I'm worried that one of these times I won't stop myself and I'll end up doing something I'll regret...

To each their own I guess. I mean each person has their own reason to drink. To unwind after a long week, to try it out for the first time, or to forget the world they live in at the moment. I can't really judge people who drink, since I drink (not to the extent others might, maybe once a month)
