A father of a 20-year-old girl let his daughter drown, stopping life guards from rescuing her. He preferred that his daughter die rather she be touched by a strange man, according to a top official.

Apparently this would dishonor the family, if she was to be touched by a strange man. So i guess it's better to just let her die, right? Happened in Dubai today or yesterday i think.

As many at 78.2% of Matric students passed. Next year it will be 100%. We are going to lower the mark required for a Matric Certificate to 10%. You must be willing to make sacrifices if you want to make progress" - Angie Motshekga

Matric is the South African final year in high school.

Not sure which of the two quotes troubles me the most...

Distrated, where exactly are you planning to come in two months in Norway? Most of the tourist attractions are already closed and winter is coming.

Also, PM me if you want ANY information about hiking in Norway, am in the middle of a weeklong hiking trip here right now and I have lived here for 11 summers now and besides the far north and Svalbard I have been pretty much everywhere.

In other news, pretty epic trip. Gonna post some pics when I get to a computer aswell. But thought it was already past peak season at the touristy spots, which itis obviously not.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

Any of you Canadian folk (or anyone) wanna give me some recommendations for things to do in Vancouver, BC? I'm gonna visit there for the first time for three days in early september with my girlfriend and we don't really have any idea what we wanna do yet.

Also looks like I'm heading to Portland with a friend in less than a couple weeks for 2 days at Musicfest NW. Stoked to see Title Fight and Danny Brown for a second time each, plus lots of other bands that I don't know much about but I'm interested in seeing.

i'm Canadian but I've never been to Vancouver. So, uh...go to a bar. Make it out to Banff/Jasper/lake louise/anywhere rockies if you can (I have done that and it was awesome).

Oh yeah, I'll definitely go to some bars. I'm 20 and haven't been to an actual bar yet so it'll be cool.

Absolutely [bleep]ing exhausted.

Any of you guys seen the picture of people on a rock hanging between two cliffs? I was there today.

Scariest shit I have ever done in my life.

The rock was round, slippery, it was windy, and it has to be jumped on on one foot while embracing a cliff wall.

Plenty have fallen and since there is a 600-metre drop,if you fall, then chances of survival are pretty much nil.

Winter is coming? Oh shit.

Seriously though, we're going towards the Fjordruta, starting in Kristiansund. I'm just gonna be sure to get me some good hiking boots in a few days and try to walk in them a bit to get used to it. Other than that I'm pretty dependant on my friends to do some research since I'll be gone till the day we leave, but I'm pretty confident in their preparation skills.

2:30am and i just had 3 burgers, fries, and a shake and i wasn't even hungry :s...

ITs 6:56 p.m.. and im still waiting to try the new ghost pepper burrito.

Ghost pepper burrito? You mean thing at Taco Bell?

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

I saw The World Is  a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die and Pianos Become the Teeth last night. Really fun show, it was my third time seeing twiabp but Pianos Become the Teeth were really cool too. Ended up buying their new cd which they pretty much played exclusively but the recordings didn't capture how good the songs were live at all.

I went thrifting today with a couple friends and scored a sick pair of tower speakers. I ended up testing them out at my friend's place and they sound incredible. We went to a record store after and I got a really good deal on a pretty nice used amp for them, so now I have a sound system for my apartment this fall. Ended up finally succumbing to the vinyl bug and bought some records too while I was there. Scored a copy of the Grateful Dead's American Beauty, Yes's Close to the Edge, Stevie Wonder's Innervision, the Who's Live at Leeds, and a Billy Joel and a Moody Blues album for less than $40 put together. Now I just have to find a turntable in my basement and I'll be all set.

Ended up going to the gym after work and broke my final pr from 2 years ago by pulling 6 reps of 235 lb deadlifts. God it feels good to be making progress again now that I'm off the cut I was on for the past month.

Also I reeeeeeeally want to try those ghost pepper burittos.

I actually went to Taco Bell and tried all 3 a few days ago. I don't have a good taste for ghost pepper, but the sauce was decent. They aren't really any hotter than the Fire Sauce, but it had a good warm flavor. The habanero one had that signature musty flavor to it. Nothing really surprising there, and the heat wasn't that hot. Chipotle tasted like generic chipotle. What a shocker.

They are still definitely worth the $1 in my opinion.

Yes Boris, I was on this very same handsome rock called Kjeragbolten.

Fjordruta isn't telling me anything, you need to be more specific. And are you renting a car or trying by public transport?

Finally home...

You know, I moved to the last town I knew Goon was in and he still hasn't taken me skiiballing.

me and abc went skiballing yesterday

How has ABC been lately?

+ has he got over his fear of women yet?

Despite the fact we haven't heard from him in months, I can confidently say that, no, he hasn't gotten over the sexism inherent to his fear of women.

aw man abc is great. he has a job and a girlfriend and they have a cat together. we go skiballing all the time

I'm going to milk Goon's teats

The World Is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die and Pianos Become the Teeth

I read this as one sentence. The first two bands made sense together, I got really confused when it became pianos though.

My skin is finally getting soft
I'll scrub until the damn thing comes off

"The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die" is actually one band.  They're from the town next to where I went to college.  A lot of people fiend them.

They're alright I guess. Pretentious emo shit for the most part. I've got a couple friends in that scene, my understanding from them is that they're kind of [wagon].

Edit: If you guys want some solid stuff from Connecticut, check out Have a Nice Life (The album Deathconciousness specifically) and Cop (the EP Render. These guys are dope and also I'm friends with some of the guys in the band so gotta give them shouts)

Lol I actually logged in to post that I read it without comprehending that they were band names, and thought we had been infiltrated by Jaden or something. Didn't even see your post until after I was ready to post this :p
