I agree that we need to close social gaps to an extent, but if we made everyone equal, our nation and economy would go down the tubes. We already try to close the gap with Welfare, etc. and the Poor don't pay taxes. Even though Obama says that the rich people need to help out more, the top 20% of income earners in the US pay 80% of the total income taxes. Is that fair?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well, considering they own most of the wealth, I'd say it's pretty fair. Furthermore, I'm not interested in what's fair, I'm interested in what's right. Right and wrong are ultimately relative concepts, but I find it absolutely incredible that in the richest country in the world there are people living in poverty. This just should not be the case. No one in the world should be living in poverty, but people are too quick to say, "That's mine, not yours, go get your own."

Reading that thing I don't really see what is bad about it. Maybe I'm stupid, which is likely. But it seems like a good thing that in the past only one person in a country would own a castle. If 5% of the population own castles now wouldn't that be a good thing? And seeing as it's the UN I wouldn't give it much weight.
