It's now 207 Obama and 135 McCain according to BBC

and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.

- Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

CBS projects that due to the west coast states alone, obama could lose every tossup and still win.

Still waiting with bated breath, but I'm feeling more hopeful.

Only 6 polls still open.

As if it wasn't obvious...It's over? Take the 55 from California, which is nearly definitely going to go blue, add that to the 206 or whatever Obama has now...~260. He can scoop up another 10 anywhere, even without all the currently really close ones.

Obama pretty much won the entire Northeast coast, it's pretty much over.

There's still the Western states, and California with 55 votes, but that's guaranteed Democratic, but don't hold your breath. There's no guarantee at this point.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

You can't really guarantee anything until it really is over, but it just looks pretty well in Obama's favor.

It's over then isn't it?

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

It depends on the western states. They're all predicted to be democratic, and I'm quite sure California will be - Don't know about the others.

I played with the calculator a bit more, if everything but Montana, California and Hawaii goes to McCain, we would have a 269-269 tie. Doesn't seem likely, but that should give you an idea of how important some of these states are.

New England? All those states combined have about as many votes as a big swing state. Excluding New York.

It's still pretty much over (Obama winning Ohio was the clincher (GO OHIO)) but then it's really not.

I have never ever wanted anything more, and i mean ANYTHING than to be in Grant Park RIGHT NOW.

207 to 138 - CA is pretty much 100% guaranteed to be Obama so he has practically already won.

It's over. No doubts about it. Now the question is what will the margin be.

I thought Indiana would be a landslide for McCain so I didn't even bother voting for Obama, I voted for Bob Barr instead. Now CNN has Obama less that 7,000 votes behind in Indiana with close to 2,400,000 votes cast. That's something like .03%. I'm going to be pissed if he loses the state by one vote that I was planning on giving him.

Not that it matters anyways because it looks like he has it pretty much in the bag already.

Sounds like its pretty much over. Well done Obama.

Yeah, Virginia and Florida look like they're going to Obama, It's over. Go home people.

Aye, just start bracing yourselves for the recounts.

No recounts this time. McCain will call Obama tonight to concede, no doubt.

Lol recounts. Was blown away on CNN though by the halograms with whoever the celebrity was. That was seriously intense. Anderson Cooper talking about Star Trek/Star Wars. 8-)

Obama pretty much has it in the bag though according to several websites. Wasn't terribly exciting!!

Aye, just start bracing yourselves for the recounts.

In NC and Indiana possibly also maybe Virginia, but if Obama's 140k+ lead in Florida holds it doesnt really matter as without it nothing short of California voting for Mccain is going to change the overall result.

there are no stupid questions

just way too many inquisitive idiots

balance is scary to people who like things easy for them

I have lost my grandmother last week, apparently so did Obama, but I have rarely been happier in my life. I care tons about the sake of the world, and a victory for a democrat with a name like that, a black one even, is a fantastic sign for the future. It's not that I loathe McCain, it's just that another republican victory would cause our world to slide down even further, evgen if McCain would do the best he could. I'm even pretty confident that the first, and atm hopefully not last, term of Obama will not even differ that much from a possible McCain-dominated USA. The economic gap is just too big to make any real change soon. But a victory for the democrats would be the strongest sign to those other 6 billion people that the world's most powerful country actually wants to change it's attitude. And that is, above all, what we need.

edit: the actual popular votes are terribly close compared to the electoral college votes:

35,722,638 for Obama vs. 33,836,029 for McCain oppsed to 243 - 141 electoral votes.

By the way: I just received a phonecall from a friend in NY that Obama has crossed the crucial 270 electoral votes barrier! Oh happy days :)
