Well i've been seriously considering buying a Bandos Godsword...

 

 

 

Currently i use a whip for everything which works fine for me, but can someone please comment on the way that i'm weighing up the argument now? I just seem to see people using them everywhere, but to me the whip seems sooo much better...

 

 

 

Whip pros:

 

:D Very fast

 

:D Can use a shield for extra defence meaning less food needed when training

 

:D Cheap

 

 

 

Whip Cons:

 

:( Not as powerful as a godsword.

 

 

 

Godsword pros:

 

:D Very powerful

 

 

 

Godsword Cons:

 

:( Can't use a shield

 

:( Expensive/unstable price

 

:( Very slow

 

 

 

***For every 10 hits with a godsword, how many hits could you do with a whip?

 

 

 

And do you think i should buy one?

sgs has a godly spec

It's only good in a select few situations, like monster hunting and pvp. That's about it. If you don't do that a lot don't get it.

 

 

 

Other than that, the sgs spec is good for slayer.

They are more of a novelty item. They are fun to use but for training or actual uses, whip has them beat. If you have the money and really want one i say go for it, if your thinking its going to be useful don't buy one.

I used my SGS for 91-99 str, it wasn't slow at all

Most people don't take into consideration of how good something is when they buy it, especially when its an item like godswords which they really want. Also some people don't feel like the whip is that much better to use it over their godsword, especially considering they just spent 25+mil on it. Not to mention this is runescape, people love to show off.

Armadyl - Spec is for Pvp/Bandos Boss, it is better than dagger.

 

Bandos - Kinda a welfare godsword for Pvp/Bandos Boss.

 

Zamorak - Spec is useful for Saradomin Boss and also for cwars.

 

Saradomin - Spec is very useful for slayer, Dagannoth Kings and Godwars

 

 

 

The godswords are primarily for their specs, even when I do slayer I use whip + dfs and just keep saradomin godsword in my inventory for specs.

Exactly how I feel about it.

From what i remember when i had mine, the whip was like 1.5 times faster then the godsword. That just my estimation though don't take my word for it.

I love my whip, and plan on using it as long as I can on attack and defense. I'm almost 98 attack, but only 91 defense, so I still have a bit to go with it. I don't own a god sword, and have never used one, so I can't really judge them. But I never wanted to buy one either, if that means anything to ya.

I use my ags whenever I can (obviously not at dragons). The gs is faster and hits harder then the whip - no doubt. I have tryed bandos and sara too but like the specs on ags better.

 

 

 

I have both whip and gs and I can tell you that the time I usually kill, lets say, a dark beast, I have killed two with a gs.

 

 

 

I hit harder and more often wth a gs then with my whip. If you worry about your economics though, keep to your whip and use dd++ with its spec instead.

Me and another guy tested the whip versus ags at abyssal demons the other day for more then 2 hours (we have approx same stats) and I killed more abyssal then he did - every time.

I agree with Sun. Whip is great weapon but over combat level 100 monsters seems to be a good idea to use GS.

Same levels, same strength bonus, same attack bonus? Because I've trained at abyssals aswell... a LOT.. and the GS was just blown away by the whip.

I believe Darkbeast has more defense than abyssal demons?

What he said, but use a defender for slayer. If the only one of the swords that you can afford is a bgs, then the only reason to get one is if you go to bandos or zammy GWD a lot, in my opinion. If you have a bit mroe to spend, then grab a sgs, all the cool kids are doing it.

 

 

 

A whip/sara sword are better training weapons by FAR. I've actually started making a point to attack monsters near people exclusively using godswords just to demonstrate how horrible they are, it's not very nice but...whatever.

sara gs is really the only one thats good for trainning, as a spec wep...rest are really only good for bosses and pvp

Especially for Slayer tasks, where you have to use a slayer helm instead of guthans.

Whip has speed 6, Godswords speed 4 (can be found in the knowledge base). This means that for every 6 whip hits you can do 4 hits with the godsword. So ye, whip is 1.5 times as fast as the godsword.

 

 

 

And for that reason the whip is better than the godsword for training. Speed beats power :

high def - gs, includes pvp and bosses.

 

low def - whip, training on monsters which are most of the time low def because people train on low def monsters.
