October 10, 200817 yr While quickly browsing the RSOF's, I found a little snippet under 'future updates'. Here is a screenshot. I had to laugh, naturally. Thankfully though, the poster wasn't serious, as it was meant to be a crack on all of the other skill speculation, namely sailing. So that had me thinking. The post has a very valid point, however satirical it may be. Even though we sometimes have "evidence" for future updates and skills, aren't we really just guessing, or at the least finding relativity's in game content, while ignoring inconsistencies? I sure think so... which is why the ROSF's are junk. Discuss. (the funny post, it's satire, it's validity and your opinion on most future update threads)
October 10, 200817 yr Fixed. Mindless speculation is hilarious, just look at the "Jagex is going to kill Bounty Hunter" thread somewhere below this. Mindless speculation is like trying to hit a target with a machine gun at your hip. After firing off 1000 bullets, one of them is bound to strike the target, but don't go calling yourself a marksman for getting that one hit.
October 10, 200817 yr Author Thanks, my pictures haven't been working lately, but I just got it. So anyway... I like that analogy. Obviously nobody hit the target with 'sailing'.
October 10, 200817 yr Let them believe what they want to believe, I fail to see how this affects you in any way. 99 Hits, Attack, Strength, Defence, Mage, Summoning, Slayer, Ranged, 96/99 Prayer
October 10, 200817 yr Let them believe what they want to believe, I fail to see how this affects you in any way. It makes him laugh. Threads do not have to 'affect' you in some way to be a valid discussion. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.
October 10, 200817 yr Let them believe what they want to believe, I fail to see how this affects you in any way. It makes him laugh. Threads do not have to 'affect' you in some way to be a valid discussion. He is expecting a discussion on obvious satire, that of which the author in the RSOF is being brutally and painstakingly obvious. What are we supposed to do, laugh and agree? "Yeah dude that guy nailed those speculators SO badly" 99 Hits, Attack, Strength, Defence, Mage, Summoning, Slayer, Ranged, 96/99 Prayer
October 10, 200817 yr The funny thing is banana-picking sounds really dumb, but it's exactly like actual skills, wooducuting notably. Click tree, wait, get log/banana. 2480+ total
October 10, 200817 yr ZOMFG BANNANA PICKING IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! W000000000000000000T! I CANT WAIT! THIS IS GOING TO BE AN AWESOME SKILL! :twss:
October 10, 200817 yr The funny thing is banana-picking sounds really dumb, but it's exactly like actual skills, wooducuting notably. Click tree, wait, get log/banana. We can already pick bananas, we suddenly learn how to do it better and it stops improving our farming level? As a side note, I had a friend who when he started playing thought herblore was cabbage picking and spent and spent 30 minutes picking cabbages wondering why he hadn't leveled. Edit: I suppose that was a little off topic. Anyway I think most of it is guess work. Jagex do however give hints away, there are plenty of things left open right now. I know there was a thread about all of the doors and portals in runescape that don't lead anywhere but after searching the forums I couldn't find it (my guess is it died in the rollback)
October 10, 200817 yr it's almost a shame that people think stuff like the sailing "leak" is real and that they over and over again try to confince people that it is comming Played since February 200113th to 30 huntingfiremaking cape achieved 6th August 2008_-_-_-_Quest cape achieved 19th August 2009
October 10, 200817 yr He forgot the Luthas dude and his plantation, he could give us our skillcape when we get 99. [Whip drops: 13]
October 10, 200817 yr There's a huge difference for a skill that makes sense, and one that is far fetched. However much I like the analogy, I can only believe sailing will be the next Runescape skill. There is evidence to support it and "Jagex is always working on one skill." What else would be next? EDIT: I offer no evidence that it will be the next skill. And you offer no evidence to prove me otherwise, it's just an opinion.
October 10, 200817 yr EDIT: I offer no evidence that it will be the next skill. And you offer no evidence to prove me otherwise, it's just an opinion. Uhm, duh? The only way you can be proved otherwise is when Jagex states sailing won't come out. Jagex will not do that. Kind of weird to say that "you offer no evidence to prove me otherwise" while one is in no position to do that even though he or she could be totally right. While it might be opinions.. they are in this case predictions, and they should be backed up with valid arguments. If you're going to say it's just an opinion we might aswell discuss the weather. There's a difference between random speculation and speculation based on certain findings. Twitter ||| Google+ ||| Facebook ||| LinkedIn ||| My very interesting weblog about science
October 10, 200817 yr Speculation is what keep most of the players going, like the release of construction years after rumours and leaks that it would be the new skill. It's something to hope for, and look forward to. And I like the idea of sailing, if it's what I visualise it to be. I'd have thought that firemaking sounds absurd if it wasn't around yet. Light logs? Light more logs? With seemingly no other incentive other than more total levels, more exp, and more ashes? "Do you really want to go back to the time when Falador was grey, lesser demon look like goats, dragons look like cows, hellhound look like cats and your character stands as stiff as a statue?" -F1775
October 10, 200817 yr sorry but the idea that the next skill would be sailing is ridiculous it would serve absolutely no purpose besides that if we could sail ourselves from place to place what would become of all the ships involved in quests and transportation throughout runescape? it just doesn't add up and i'm going to stick with occam's razor on this and say that since it doesn't make sense it probably isn't true [hide]Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.-[/hide]
October 10, 200817 yr Sailing is coming. It's a funorb game http://forum-fo.funorb.com/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?15,16,445,9398 Speculation gets you nowhere, the ideas may be done because people support them, but they won't be good content. 2496 Completionist

October 10, 200817 yr Does it really matter? I rather enjoy reading most speculations and I don't see how they can do any harm. If it's a ridiculous speculation of course I won't be interested in reading about it, but it wouldn't cause me any harm either, maybe even a laugh :P Speculations won't change the outcome, they're just a product of anticipation of updates. [insert birds flying in a circle here]Yes, that sig was annoying.
October 10, 200817 yr He forgot the Luthas dude and his plantation, he could give us our skillcape when we get 99. [hide=leaked banana cape][/hide] :o jagex leaked it! z0mg
October 10, 200817 yr Lol, I tried not to laugh, but had to. Satire is great, when there's some thought behind it. There's no thought behind this really, just picking a random object and adding some scepticism isn't that clever :| There's a million and one things this could be done for tbh :D EDIT~ Wow at the Banana cape, looks really hawt
October 10, 200817 yr I saw a thread in the RSOF stating that because one of the Ancient Magick teleports' names is 'Dareeyak', we'd soon have the ability to milk yaks and make yak milk cheese. Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude? Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you? Camera guy: still laughing Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy Camera guy: runs away still laughing Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity?
