Miner52289
A little while ago I used to be able to sell a few thousand fire runes at a time on the GE and wait for them to sell overnight and then collect my money in the morning. However I think this is not the case anymore. Slayer seems to be much more popular and it the most common massively dropped rune from slayer tasks is the fire rune. Bloodveld, Fire Giants, Lesser/Greater Demons, Dust Devils, etc. all can drop fire runes in quantities of 60x, 120x, 150x, or even 300x. Right now I've got 12k fire runes that have been sitting in the GE waiting to be sold a 9gp apiece for the past 3 days. I can't get rid of them and I know that I'm just going to stockpile more and more of them if they don't sell. Are fire runes pretty much junk now? Italian5kamikaze
Because of slayer theres so many pouring in to the economy and there is just a lower demand for them. I have 70K+ in my bank and my slayer level isnt even 80 yet. STOP POSTING THREADS ON EVERY FREAKING ITEM. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes. Anyways, there are always too many fire runes, I suggest keeping them and saving them for later use. Ouchy
Fire Runes are not junk, they simply have a low demand at the moment. Give them time so they can fix themselves and demand can occur again. Zepheras
I think this problem is a result of unexpected situation when jagex introduced the..... FIRE STAFF!!!!!111!!11!!!, an equipment with such a low level requirement, but yet so useful. If they had done something like pay for 10% of your fire runes, and subsequently introduce higher percentage, the rune market wouldn't have crashed and the double elemental staves would have better better regarded. sohkmj1
I've kept 2k in the GE for a whole week before. Just freaking wait. It's called the Grand Exchange, not the Grand-instant-buy/sell-when-you-want-it-to Exchange. Fire runes have the tendency to get stuck, and unstuck quickly. No one really needs them. F2P RCers who do their own RC levels will often craft fire runes. Fire runes come from slayer, and a lot of other non-slayer monsters. Also, I agree with Italian5kamikaze. Do you need a thread for every single item? We've had like 4 in the past week. Tommorrow: OMFG STR POTS are dropping !@@!$!@$@@!! Just please, stop. I like reading about updates, feedback, so I can get prepared for them when I get members back. We are NOT a merchanting clan. This is not A C I D Y. Sure, the occasional thread about items in general may help, but this isn't. Seriously. This section is getting cluttered with so much "OMFG this dropped that rose etc" that all the nice threads are getting bumped off. :(

FIRE STAFF!!!!!111!!11!!!, an equipment with such a low level requirement, but yet so useful. But there are instances when it will be necessary to use Fire Runes (Combat Spells, ect.). Zepheras
I don't even have to assume. You just need to consider the vast amount of fire runes saved over the years by players high alching with their fire staves and nature runes, either to get the cash out of their yew and mage longbows, or for that level 94 magic level. Or you can come up with another situation that uses up as many fire runes as those saved from the example I give, to prove my point invalid. Seabourch
I'm going to haqve a lot fire runes in my bank when I'm done RCing them. I'm trying to raise my RC level to 50, I agree though. Fire runes are reaching junk-like levels now. Still, its good if your raising RC levels in f2p.

SwreeTak
Fire Runes are not junk, they simply have a low demand at the moment. Give them time so they can fix themselves and demand can occur again. Ouchy is right here. The runes are not junk, even though it's hard to sell them at the moment. Have patience and keep collecting them, in a while demand for them will come back and people will start buying them off you. And you will get all those gps you want for them. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
Grogtholomew
i like how someone said it was an unexpected problem due to jagex introducing the fire staff.... you see, the fire staff was introduced 7 years ago... i really think this would have happened earlier if that was the case

Dragon_Scyth
yeah there fairly easy to come by i got like 130k in my bank from killing fire gaints when i was noob, "Boredom got me playing, Boredom stops me from playing. Zepheras
The fire staff was introduced 7 years ago, but the grand exchange was introduced barely a year ago. A bunch of fire runes in your bank + a gigantic dumping site for anything you don't need + more ways to gain fire runes than lose them = a crashing economy. I'm not saying that the fire staff was the cause of this problem, but the 4 elemental staves are at the end of the day, the reason why elemental runes are dirt cheap. With fire runes being the most common monster drop of the 4, no doubt players will have trouble selling them. Great for buyers though! "Do you really want to go back to the time when Falador was grey, lesser demon look like goats, dragons look like cows, hellhound look like cats and your character stands as stiff as a statue?" -F1775

Laura
Anything that the Runescape society deems as worthless, or does not actively need is considered junk. What do people even use fire runes for? Blood/God spells? People still use those? I mean, I guess at Metal Dragons or DK's, but most people don't use combat magic like that for any hardcore training and, as pointed out, there's the fire staff. mervinator_9
I just sold 10k for 9gp each so its not like the fire rune market has jammed up completely, As for "could it be considered as junk?" well as long as people are junk trading it then i guess it can and will be Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,I like to think I walk this line every day. Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man. You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs. Claremont
I have about 180k fire runes sitting in my bank, care of camping fire giants form 60-94 range. I think once people realise theres a fire staff they just buy that instead, also, not many 'levelling' spells use fire runes, many use high alch to get 99 mage, fire runes are just useless.. :/ ' Crazy Old Man.R.I.P The Old Nite.
