October 30, 200817 yr I sort of agree with the OP. The broom should have at least let us hover on it... I think Jagex just didn't want to put the time into the coding to let us do it. I've always wandered how long it took them to make the "coding" for items and operations, especially when people *cough*like you*cough*, make it sound so easy.
October 30, 200817 yr Who said you wont be able to get it back? All holiday items are retrievable, if you got them from someone else or not. And, all your FTP players do is piss and moan. Every event before this gave items that never really did anything, and now you get something that can be upgraded in P2P (incentive to buy members anyone?) and you piss and moan. You're assuming that every single person that plays the free version of this game is pissing and moaning? Stop saying things if you know that they're not true whatsoever, because I definitely am not. To the topic starter, do you not think that us Free Players should be very grateful for JaGeX even giving us a quest to begin with, forget the broom. WE DON'T PAY! They could have just given us the Halloween Event and handed the new quest over to Members. If you keep whining like this, JaGeX will not give us anything at all. PS: The 10 Bowls of Goulash is a very nice reward, considering that it's the equivalent of getting 10 Genie Randoms. By "All ftp players" Im generalizing the people on the rants section, "FTP deserves this" "ftp deserves that" and people like the OP, saying they got a useless holiday item (arnt they all useless?) Just comes to prove my point. 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
October 30, 200817 yr It's supposed to be a useless yet decorative item for f2p, like all of the other holiday items you get. It would look good as part of a witch costume (black hat and robes?), much like the grim reaper hood looks good as part of a grim reaper costume. I thought half the point of the event was to emphasise this? By the way, that goulash was delicious. ~ W ~

PLUS: It does something on members because these people pay to play and expect more than the F2P get. I am F2P and am awed at how ungrateful some of you people are...

Yea, and they haven't added in back massages in game, cause they're lazy. And there's no strawberry shortcake, CAUSE THEY'RE LAZY. And there's no shrimp cocktail, CAUSE THEY'RE LAZY. Everything not in the game can be attributed to Jagex's laziness. That's right, and completely logical.
October 31, 200817 yr 1. F2p don't get updates other than holiday items. 2. Holiday items are always only for looks. Trust the Gene Genie!
October 31, 200817 yr get p2p and make broom effective? lol jk i guess whats the effect of making a quest start out as p2p and f2p and then removing the f2p aspect of it
October 31, 200817 yr Whell, on the bright side, atleast we can now clean some corners or roads with it  I' ve always wanted to dust a bit in the Lumbridge castle cellar. November 1, 200817 yr Though I'm P2P, I too dislike the broom. Given that the event and PvP were the only two updates this month, and that I have no reason to use one and the other I found lacking, I feel like a dissatisfied customer. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?
November 1, 200817 yr I'm not getting to say anything about F2P not derserving anything, due to flame wars and the traddition of holiday events for all, but no holiday event has EVER had ANY real practical use. Your holiday event is the same as the rest, it's not nerfed, so stop whining. As for riding the broom, I'm surprised Jagex didn't implement it, I'm sure many people would have enjoyed it - F2P and P2P. Given that the event and PvP were the only two updates this month, and that I have no reason to use one and the other I found lacking, I feel like a dissatisfied customer. PvP worlds were good for everyone. I don't PK but the price of items sky-rocketed. Slayer is more profitable again! \ Trust the Gene Genie!
November 1, 200817 yr Well you ride it.....when you do the Sorceress Garden tele, if that counts. Templar GuardiansWhen are trying to lend something, the word to use is borrow. Not barrows, which is a mini-game.

PvP worlds were good for everyone. I don't PK but the price of items sky-rocketed. Slayer is more profitable again! \This is true. But, though I do love money, sometimes I want something that I'll try. Something that I enjoy. PKing really isn't that- for me, the risk outweighs the reward. So my benefits are only secondary. It helps me, but really doesn't add to my gaming experience. November 2, 200817 yr I know this sounds unethical but: beggars can't be choosers. :shame: At least you got something at all.
November 4, 200817 yr Broom: useless for f2p. Goulash, robes, everything else: TOTALLY AWESOME! This was the best holiday ever, with the exception of that one easter where we got the rubber chicken. God, I love that thing... To the poster who said we can get the broom back: that's actually not true. Technically, it's not a holiday item, but a quest item. And if maggie disappears from f2p worlds, then we can't get it back until we get members. I'm 100% free-to-play!!! Message me, private chat is always on. :)
November 4, 200817 yr Granted it is a useless item but hey, better a useless broom than NO broom right? ;) Unless F2P players can't retrieve it after the quest goes P2P only and Maggie disappears from the F2P world. Then we're stuck with a useless broom...in our banks  Who said you wont be able to get it back? All holiday items are retrievable, if you got them from someone else or not. It's NOT a holiday item. It's a QUEST item. Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
November 4, 200817 yr Well, Jagex first intended it to be a member-only quest in the first place. Call it a bribe, but I cannot complain much after drinking 10 bowls of ghoulashs. Mmhm. Thats 5k xp, so people really can't complain.
November 6, 200817 yr Uselessness of the broom what? I'm still busy loving Jagex for even giving F2P and additional quest this year(and ghoulash, not to mention the load of updates before that). 100% F2P99 Defense, Tuesday February 10th 200999 Attack, Tuesday May 26th 200962,189th to get it
November 7, 200817 yr It's not a bad update. Personally, I wouldn't have minded if they gave the broom some sort of emote, like riding it or something if you operated it. That would've been a nice touch. However, can't complain about the robes and the goulash though. Currently P2P. I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand. November 7, 200817 yr Name one holiday item after the Scythe that actually has a use in F2P. Then, and only then, will I consider that your rant is valid. Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.
November 8, 200817 yr I think I'm just gonna go off now and rant about the uselessness of the rubber chicken now... It's a broom, a fun item, not everything has to have a use or serve a purpose. For example, what positive impacts has RuneScape had on your life? Mhm. Seems pretty useless to me other than being a nice way to waste time. /FG/First thread post to when I joined the family.[hide=Insert rant here]blahblahblahLIFE[/hide]
November 9, 200817 yr Remember everyone that it isn't a holiday item, but a quest item. Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
November 9, 200817 yr Remember everyone that it isn't a holiday item, but a quest item. Its a Holiday Quest item. Hence its category- "Hallowe'een Quest" Im pretty sure that FTP can get it back from the person they got it from originally or Diango. They wouldnt give them an item they cant get back, they have NEVER done that. If you've gotten bunny ears, you can get them back. If you've gotten scarves, you can get them back. The broom is no different. Why break the pattern now. 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
