Level 3 Clues - Too Much for Too Little?

Featured Replies

I ALWAYS make profit from clues, therefore they are worth doing. Recently I have been fairly lucky and gotten some good stuff, and even what is not really sellable is nice for skilling outfits :P

I also think that clues should be rarer, and the rewards better. It makes you waste less time but makes them worth doing when you actually get them. I want to feel excited when I get a clue drop, which I don't do.

Normally, I do all my clues shortly after I recieve them, just because I know I CAN get a third age item, but I doubt they are actually worth doing.

Got fire cape at the 17th of June 2006

Abyssal whip drops: 6

I always do my clues. I find them to be a nice break in training.

What also helps is once I got a robin from a level 3, and that motivates me to get something better.

Antoher thing that helps is thinking of the look on my friends faces when I show them my new 3rd age.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

I always do mine, but not for the reward. I know the chance of getting something real good is very small, so I just do them for fun. But if I manage to get a real good drop I of course becomes very happy.

Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

The chance of a good item should be increased.

I have done alot lvl 3 clues, and not gotten a 3rd age or so.

Level 2 clues= animal masks= 2m+ easily????????????????

I just think they should add more expensive items to clues.

Why is everyone saying that costs of travelling far outweigh the profits of an average level 3 clue?

A level 3 clue is 9 clues, is it not? So that's 9 teleports, though probably less due to spirit tress, gliders, jewlery etc.

Average cost of a teleport:

334gp for a law rune

39gp for 3 air runes

16gp for an elemental rune

All together that is around 389gp per teleport. Multiply that by 9 and you get 3501gp. Let's say you use a charter ship for one or two of those journeys. So that could add possibly, 1.75k per ship? Multiply that by 2 and add it on. All together you get 7001gp. That's if you teleport on all clues, and use a charter ship on two of them. Not even factoring in the clues you will use free transport for, that is a lot less than the average level 3 clue reward, which at the moment is around 30-40k.

Uri's items aren't event that expensive anyway, and if he asks for something like a rune plate, then you can easily sell that back later for a loss of less than a few thousand gp.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Level 3 clues USED to only be a maximum of 6 parts long, now i believe they can go beyond that to 8.

I used to enjoy the travel and doing a lot of Slayer I would always take a break to do my clues, but recently I just really can't be bothered; if I'm going to make money I'd prefer getting some xp too, and although I never really expected much from the clues the drops were mostly abysmal, and when they were good it would only be a couple of hundred thousand gp. I've had the same clue in my bank for about 2 months now and aren't even considering getting it done, in fact I prefer having the extra potential invent space on task, however I have realised I've been getting bored of slayer quicker than I used to, so maybe those breaks to explore Runescape and do clues were worthwhile in that they kept the game interesting for me.

I think they really need to start scrapping some of the low-value rewards, especially gilded furniture and crossbows.

I always do clues (level 3 only though [don't even bother picking up 1's or 2's]), right after I finish whatever I'm killing. In all the clues I've done, I've probably managed 10m+, with my best drop being a Saradomin Platebody.. The chance that you can get a good item (3rd Age! Only reason I do level 3's <3: [in hopes of achieving my 3rd Age Platelegs goal I've had forever]) always seems to motovate me. Plus, I can do them quickly, and it averages about to being a good profit. And for some odd reason, I actually enjoy the puzzle boxes.. So why not? And even if I get a crossbow, or piece of Gilded furnature, I just put it in my house, or save the Rune Crossbows (have a collection of about 35 from clues alone, heh).

Yay someone else who enjoys them! ::'

I have a few friends who will just throw away their clues if they get them, either that or get a mate to do it or spend 30 minutes or more on getting it done!

I did a castle one in 23 seconds once rofl. (I time myself to make it more challenging, I think my worst time was around 5 minutes after I got the top left peice wrong and didn't realise until the end lol.) :wall:

I clicked a Grand Tree one so fast, that it glitched two boxes to the point that I couldn't see them.. Haha. I had to log off and restart it then.. -.-

I used to hate them. I once got 3 puzzle boxes in one clue, and during that clue, I learned how easy they actually are.

I don't love them, but I would rather one of them over an Uri or Co-ordinates clue any day.

I'm a big fan of clue scrolls, myself. I believe that anything that can take me 5-20 minutes and yield a reward of over 1m is worth doing.

I do them (level 3s) as soon as I get them, I kill ankous so I get alot of clues, they don't take longer then half an hour and the rewards can be great. My notable rewards are a robin hood hat, zammy kite, top hat, and sara legs. They're fun, easy, and there is always the allure of getting something awsome.

Unless you get a puzzle box, then it eats up your whole evening.

I love clues. its not about the reward its the fun of traveling around and just mixing it up. I play runescape for fun from the real world and to get away, id rather travel around and see new sights than sit and click for hours on end. YAY CLUES! =D> \'

3rd age is a myth, you can't get it from clues. Jagex just dumps a few sets in the ge every now and then.

wl7w9j.png

And ppl never got a 3rd age before ge ... all the ppl with those items were jagex ppl ...

I always do clues as fast as possible. Usually I get em when I'm doing slayer or monster hunting, who knows if it'll drop again like at t he next kill? :o

Clues are fun to some, but it's not an efficient way to spend your time.

2480+ total

When i was a member, i would do lvl 1 and lvl 2's i did level three's but EVERYTIME i did one i always got a puzzle. I read so many guides on doing them it takes me like 45 mins, I finish and i go to the reward and its like a rune long -.- And Idk if you can get puzzles from lvl 1 and 2's but i never have and I get alot better rewards ::'

My friend did a level 1 clue. Got Wizard (g). I did 4 level 3 clues, didn't even come close to the prize he got. I got furniture 3/4 times, and the furniture was like teak... Then once I got rune plate legs and a hatchet which was the best I got. Sad times...

Just your typical asian who likes to play games =)

I've done several dozen level three trails, and the best reward I've gotten yet is 80k worth of rune junk. :|

I always keep a scroll in my bank on the off chance I'll get bored and do it, but I have yet to see clues as profitable.

I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)
