Level 3 Clues - Too Much for Too Little?

Recommended Posts

After much thinking, I thought this would be a good topic. I have been around this game for 4 years, and in the 4 years I have been I always loved doing clues. Now there have been updates, and they added new items. Some of them are AMAZING. 3rd Age, the Animal Masks. Yet they added some things that do not make it seem like it is worth doing it. They added Gilded Furniture, Rune Bolts, Crossbows, and you normally get some kind of runes. What is your opinion, have they went too far on the Clue Scrolls? Even though there is a chance to get a good item, what is your thoughts on doing them via the reward and time?

i find them usually a waste of time, i'm not usually satified with the rewards, i tend to put off clues until i'm bored....

I like to think of the Dark Bow like a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) - you get one shot and then you're screwed.

That is exactly what I did. I did my first one in 5 months last night, and got Rune Legs, Lobsters, Bloods, Laws.

I stopped doing them over a year ago when it got to the point where they just weren't worth all the travelling.

I dont think i've ever had anything good from a clue, my chest is empty. I usually spend more on clothing and runes to teleport around than I get in rewards.

I do almost every clue I get, and most of the time, I get junk. What keeps me going is the fact that there can actually be something good in that chest the next clue. ::'

Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

I always do my clues as soon as I get them (well after I've done that task or what have you), they take next to no time to do and almost always give >50K in items. If you never do clues of course you're not going to get anything good

I do level 1 and 2s because they're fun, short, and the only clue reward I care about is Zammy Pages. I sometimes do lv3s but I often wind up dropping them because of puzzle boxes.

the level 3's take like 15 mins to do, i don't always do them right away but eventually when i have time i'll do them.

Unless you get a puzzle box, then it eats up your whole evening.

Yeah, these are the symptoms of an addiction to gambling. Actually that's exactly what keeps me doing all those clues too.

With all the updates making it easier to travel around Runescape, I feel like it's much faster doing treasure trails now. All I can say is stick with it, you never know when you're gonna get lucky. I got a willow shortbow and 48 earth runes (joy!) on a treasure trail once, and then a sara kite and some other rune stuff on the next one. Definitely worth it in my opinion!

Personally I still think the lvl 3 clues are worth the time spend. It's still great money for the time spent. I usually finish the clues in around 15 minutes, in which profits would be an average of 100k, I think. That still averages 400k/h, which is pretty good by my standards. And besides, there's the chance on 3rd age armour... A little luck and you're pretty much rich.

I enjoy doing clue scrolls. That was where I used to make all my profit, killing hell hounds and hoping for a clue and go and do it. Now with all the new items out (Haven't done any since then) I don't know my ratio any more. I just always like the idea of getting a good item, so that is what fuels my wanting to do more clues.

A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

I stopped doing level 3 when I realised that if I didn't sell the items I had to buy to complete the clue (which I didn't always do because often needed the item again for future clues), the rewards didn't cover the cost (tele runes, item for uri, etc.) of finishing. Whether I can sell the items and make a small proffit is irrelevant. If the cost of items needed to complete a clue is less than the proffit gained from selling the reward, theres an issue and a waste time. I still do level 2's since I actualy have higher proffit margins on these clues. Level 2's are much shorter, so I can sometimes make more money off a level 2 than I could (via other methods) in the time it takes to complete. For level 3's, I have never had higher proffit from clue (cost of uri items not even considered) than proffit I could have made form other methods in the time it takes ot complete the clue.

Had a level 3 clue in the bank for about 6 months now.

My personal view is make the clue drops rarer and the item rewards better. Then you know it's worth the time out. Just my opinion.
