Does "Skiller" really mean no combat?

I don't agree with the statement that "Skiller" means no combat. Now as stated, "Pure Skiller" is a different story. I personally go with the statement that if you like to do non combat over combat (notice how I didn't say just non combat, with this it can be taken as doing both, but favoring one over the other) then you are a skiller. That's how I view it. Now, yes, you have to do combat for Slayer (except for those that utilize the rings of recoils and other methods like those of Pure Skillers) so I wouldn't say being a skiller excludes all combat.

I don't know what to view myself. Usually we have two pools, killers and skillers. But when most think about those two terms, they think on the extremes for each one. That is why it is almost hard to distinguish what someone is except when they lower the mass's view and being able to label character types. In reality, there are more middle ground people (those who do every skill) compared to pures on both extremities.

A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

I thought my total level was high for my combat, then i checked it with what was posted earlier.

Turns out my total level is lower then it should be to be balanced.

I like both killing and skilling.

What could that be called? :?

(S)killer.

No.

Basically a skiller is someone who's main xp is from skills not involving combat. So that means it makes more than half your total xp making you mainly a skiller. In fact being a skiller with a higher combat is the best of the ways to go because combat is a nice break sometimes along with the numerous bonuses for skills.

I generally think of players in 4 types:

Skillers - A player with 3 combat (or some chose to have hp) and high non-combat skills

Skillers with combat - Someone with Combat but are more geared towards non-combat related skills

Normal - More or less evenly leveled in skills and combat skills

Pures - Someone devoted to combat with very little 'skills'

Combat is a skill, it's just that to some it's more than just a skill. They feel like combat is one big skill and Attack, Strength, Hp, and Defense are all sub skills in this one big skill. They feel that it shows their power and superiority over someone with a wc cape who is level 3. If they ever wanted to fight, you could guess who wins.

"Skiller" in context means someone who values skills over combat, (usually counting magic as a skill, not combat), and usually has many high skills against their combat.

"Pure Skiller" in context means a person who has NO combat skill whatsoever, aslong as they stay level 3 it's all good.

"Free Skiller" in context is a person who trains a certain one or 2 combat stats up, usually magic / defence or magic + defence.

Last one I havent heard for a while though. Have seen many.

Here is my mathematical attempt at showing you what each term is:

(Combats)

Attack Strength Defence Hitpoints Ranged Magic Prayer Summoning Slayer

(Non-Combats)

Cooking Woodcutting Fletching Runecrafting Smithing Mining Farming Herblore Fishing Crafting Agility Thieving Construction Hunter firemaking

If Combats>Non-Combats, then you are considered a Slayer Of Monsters.

If Non-Combats>Combats, then you are considered a Skiller.

If Non-Combats=Combats, then you are Balanced.

I consider myself as a skiller and some of my favourite skills are combat skills and slayer which are some of my higher skills.

And even though a "pure skiller" is seen as someone who doesn't train combat, technically you could have 99 in all combat skills and still be a "pure skiller" since combat skills are skills - provided that you did nothing but train skills.

So you can favour combat skills over non-combat skills and still be a skiller.

I consider myself a skiller with combat levels too. I've got 5 non combat level 99's and I havnt trained combat properly for a long time now.

A level 3 skiller just hinders their chances of skilling faster. At the end of the day if we are both woodcutting and both get a spirit random, who is gonna end up dead first and who if going to be laughing?

By definition; I think a "Skiller" is a person who enjoys training non-combat skills in addition to combat skills.

A "Pure Skiller" or "Level 3 Skiller" would refer to someone who only trains the non-combat skills.

You don't have to have a high number of non-combat skills just to be a skiller, you only have to enjoy training them. People who only train combat and hate training skills, and only do because they have to, would be a "non-skiller".

The same concept is with questers. A "quester" is someone who enjoys doing most/all of the quests, while a "non-quester" is someone who only does them because they have to, to obtain things they need.

But that is saying that combat doesn't fit under the subcategory of "skills". Wouldn't a more appropriate title be "Noncombatant" or something like that?

If people want to think of combat skills as not being a part of a skiller, let them...if people want to think of combat skills as being part of a skiller, let them. There's no right or wrong answer.

And oh my Santa, settle down Maddest.

And Zierro, I think it's funny how you didn't bother responding to any of the comments that included combat in skilling, but instead waited until someone posted something that invited your argument back in to reply.

Well skiller is any one who enjoys training a stats that does not aid in the process of destroying monsters. I consider myself to be the anti-skiller with the exception of fishing as you can see from my total lvl/total xp ratio. But when you say skiller the first thing that pops to my mind is a lvl 3 who has like 99 hunter/fletching or cooking something like that.

A skiller trains all skills. In my eyes, the ultimate skiller has 99 in everything. A level 3 with all noncombats 99 lacks A LOT, and is no better a skiller than someone with all 99s. They've just made it harder for themselves for "a challenge".

Actually, let me rephrase that.... A skiller trains skills for the sake of getting levels, and perhaps maxing out total sometime. They train the skills they want to train, but don't leave out the ones that they might not like that much. Level 3 skillers lie to themselves (and others) saying they don't like combat, but infact they just limit themselves either to "look cool" or more rarely, for a personal challenge. Pures hate training but they want a certain level so they can go pk or whatever.

Fixed.

They became so devoted to skilling that they gave up all forms of combat just to skill.

It's like getting a 99 on f2p, more respect is given since it was harder to do it.

Like that skiller who is level 15 with 99 prayer. To me that is much cooler then a level 138 with 99 prayer.

It's quite sad though that the majority of level 3 skillers seem to do it just for attention. They've become way many lately, and getting unpopular. I used to think they were cool like 2 years ago, now most of them are just a pain.

Sorry Madman. I didn't know I had to reply to every single post. My bad!

Seriously, what do you want me to do? Post "I agree" to every single one of them?

I think what the misconception that a lot of people have is that a "skiller" means a level 3 who works on nothing but skills and tries hard to not gain any combat experience. That, actually, in my opinion anyway, is a "pure skiller". A skiller I think is anyone who works on any skill at all, so in general, any runescape player can be seen as a "skiller" in my eyes, even though some may work on skills more than others.

Nope, it just looks as if you ignore all of them until one presents room for your argument, then you jump right in...and if you do agree with the rest of them then you wouldn't have bothered responding to that one the way you did.

All the posts pretty much summed up that "skiller" does not in fact really mean no combat...thus your question had already been answered.

P.S. - I said it looks funny, which is an opinion held by me.

If I agree with my own point, then I wouldn't have bothered responding to one that disagreed with it? Umm... says who?

Yeah, except his which is why I had a rebuttal. Is that really so out of the ordinary? It seems much more normal than repeatedly posting "I agree" to practically every post on this thread.

Look, if you have a problem with the way I post then that's fine. Join the I-hate-Zierro Club. It really doesn't bother me though. I'm gonna be here for a while and post however I want. ;)
