I'm a woman and I don't understand women either. I much prefer the company of men. Well, it depends. In a one on one conversation, I prefer a man. My friendships with women are often doomed, ending in hysteria and extremely silly and personal accusations by the by then nearly ex-friend. Men are much more down to earth and don't put huge expectations on you. It's okay if you don't phone them for a few weeks, it's okay to make a stupid joke and you know he won't be thinking he's prettier or more attractive. Much more relax, really.

In a group, I still prefer other women, simply because men can be such idiots when you put them together, especially when there's a female around.

Giggity!

But in all seriousness, I have tough times when my girlfriend will have a close friend that is a guy. I could totally trust her to be true, but it's the guys that I don't trust. I know I would never do something like that, but I doubt all of the scumbags would be adamant on their stances when it comes to that.

I do have a few female friends, and they're alright sometimes, but nothing beats hanging out with my dude friends.

People in this forum are pretty limited. Men like Metal music and RS, women are also... weird. In RL, at least in my age, people have much more closer same sex friends than the opposite sex friends.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

I've had some close female friends in the past, but never really been able to sustain any kind of friendship with them. It's probably partly because I've been at an all boys school most of my adolescent life, and partly because I dislike more girls than I like. I feel like on some level I could get on with pretty much any guy for at least 5 minutes or so but it's not the same with girls.

The friendships that have lasted and remained strong are all with guy friends. I know it's terrible, but I find it very hard not to lust after girls even when they are just friends.

I admit, temptation is everywhere, I mean..I still have my gf, and I get tempted to wander away at times due to all of them.

Female friends can be both a blessing, and a curse. More or less depends on the situation though.

I get along better with females. Males are hard for me to relate with and most of them seem to be all about fighting, proving something (which results in more fighting), or fulfilling a 'booty call.' Not to mention that most of them are backwards. However, most of the females are also caniving and untrustworthy. I've seen some that have been long-time friends and then they end it over petty arguments. (i.e. the Presidential Election results) The funny thing is that I still get along well with most of them. Although, I have a childhood friend that's a guy and I still have one friend left over from 7th grade, and he's a very good and helpful friend (even though I only get to talk to him over IM because he's in Texas and I'm in Arkansas) and my childhood friend (and his sisters) live in Colorado now...

Just about everyone called me weird :P

I have just about as many girl friends as guy friends, yet most of my closer friends are guys.

I have a few good friends who happen to be girls, and I think it's important to have good platonic relations with the opposite sex, as you can learn about the mysteries of the opposite sex, without having to jump into bed with them.

I mainly hang out with guys. I still can't find a girl to hang out with that likes the same music as me, most all girls here listen to the [cabbage] rap on the radio :wall:

I don't think there are many girls out there who like viking metal.

And if they do, I think they'd be a big [bleep] up in the head.

You're not THAT weird though.. that's under my standards though.

They just have to like Rage, Tool, or Sublime. Maybe even Flyleaf.

All my friends think I'm weird for listening to Tool/Sublime, they've accepted the fact that I like Rage now though. Hehe.

Guy friends are ftw and ftl at the same time. -_-;;

So hard to get info out of them about themselves, but they're so fun at the same time.

And you can cuddle them without feeling like you're not straight. -nods-

Heh, maybe I'm emotionally dead. I don't feel any different if talking to a woman compared to a man, or any kind of lust. I sort of treat everyone as if they were a brother, sister, uncle, aunt. Respecting everyone as a person unless they've done something worth losing the basic respect.

My best-friend is of the opposite sex (girl). Can have a good laugh, joke and talk properly :D I have other female friends too, and a hell of a lot of guy friends. All my friends are awsome though. Then again, they must be to hang out with me ::'

I like viking metal. Never thought I'd have to be bleeped in the head to like it. *shrug*. (I know plenty of other girls who do, as well. Probably equally bleeped though, yeah...)

Well at my school there are lots of emo kids who hug random people, and I haven't ever seen a non-emo person doing that in my life...

Clearly you haven't met me in person.

To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

Really? Pretty much every girl I've ever met does that.

With me living in a house full of women all my life, my father left my mother when I was two, I've found that I enjoy being in the presence of women more then men. I have about equal amount of friends in both genders, but I have closer bonds with my female friends.

I have gotten my fair shair of names from school about this, but I don't ever care about that. Friends are friends, no matter what gender they are.

If you're in a relationship, I think it's alright but only to a certain extent. My girlfriend has a lot of guy friends, but I don't mind because I know they're just friends. I have quite a few friends that are girls and my girlfriend is fine with it.

Yes but it's hard to be straight if you don't have a fair amount of good/close same-sex friends. Not to say that having girl friends is a bad thing; I'd personally say it's almost a necessity, but if most of your friends/your closest friends are of the opposite gender, honestly, I'd say something's wrong if you're calling yourself straight. It's not universally taboo per se, but in most cases (especially in developmental years), it doesn't sit right with me.
