I liked Angels and Demons, mostly because the version I read was a very nice hardcover edition with all sorts of illustrations and pictures of the artwork involved. It also helped that during my class trip to Rome, I saw a lot of the art/locations involved in the story. It doesn't cover up the fact that it's glorified pulp though.

Does the film take place after The Da Vinci Code? The trailer seemed to say that it did :-k

Angels and Demons comes before the Da Vinci Code. Angels and Demons' book is so much better than the Da Vinci Code it's unreal.

I didn't think the movie was that great. I didn't like it as much as The Da Vinci Code. I'm not going to say anything else just because what I don't like would be a huge spoiler to the movie for those who haven't seen it..

Loved the book, so probably going to see the movie. Just can't stand the endless amounts of crap on the History Channel about the Templars/DaVinci/the Holy Grail that came about directly from the movie... And now they've switched it all to the Illuminati :wall:

This is on my list of films to see. Hopefully it's as good as the book.

[hide=May Contain Spoilers]Well as expected, it wasn't nearly as good as the book. I think I had high expectations going in, which is why I didn't enjoy it as much as I probably could have. If I had not read the book, I can see how the movie would have been very confusing. To me, it felt like they didn't do a very good job of explaining things very well. I tried to watch the movie pretending that I hadn't read the book, and from that perspective, they didn't explain the antimatter and its potential very well or Vittoria's "father" or the Illuminati. Those parts all seemed very rushed.. too rushed. They were all probably quickly explained in a sentence or two, so it was never clear how dangerous the antimatter was or how/why it was created in the first place and Vittoria's father was hardly explained at all, and I felt like the Illuminati should have been mentioned a lot more.

 

 

 

Additionally, the characters all seemed so impersonal. Robert and Vittoria's relationship never went anywhere. We never saw the real bond between Vittoria and her father. We never saw the bond between the pope and the camerlengo. We never got up and personal with the characters and they never went anywhere (development-wise).

 

 

 

It was still enjoyable, but not as good as I had hoped for.[/hide]

It's funny, I read the book for the first time just like a month ago. I have to say, though, the trailer looks like everything I've imagined the book to be.

 

 

 

Except for Tom Hank's version of Robert Langdon. Seriously, what were they thinking? He looks nothing like I imagined Langdon to look like.

Boy, this was terrible beyond words. How can you make an almost 2.5 hour long narrative movie that lacks any kind of character development. It's a thriller, but there's nothing thrilling about it. Filming my parents solving the weekly cryptogram in the newspaper for two hours would be more exciting.

I laughed and promised myself I would see this movie when I saw the commercial and saw Vatican officials holding swords :lol:

I'll rent get it on dvd when it comes out later, the cinemas here are awful... Mobiles going off, people talking/screaming etc...

Well I just got back from seeing it, and its actually very good. Of course (The book is better applies here.) It still maintained the frenetic pace (abiet slow start) and still gives some good force to the multiple plot twists (we had a lot of audible gasps during the big twist) ANd it was quite good tbh

The one in my city. There's 2 places, but the 2nd one is a small crap place. The other "main" one has 12 cinema-rooms or something.

 

There's usually alot of middle eastern kids there, and they never shut up even if you tell them off. So i prefer to rent or buy on dvd instead.

I really liked the movie. Better then The Da Vinci Code.

Using the Illuminati as a mean to create panic and chaos and here I thought the head of security was just being a jerk and the real bad guy. Good thing Tom Cruise took the key. They gave it nothing, they ignored it. Way too much people went to watch The Da Vinci Code after they banned it :

One of the best movie I ever saw, really. 9/10, maybe 9.5/10 but I didn't read the book, I hate reading -.-
