deathdrow
Freshman year at my high school is [bleep] easy. And Harvard claims we're one of the top high schools in the country? Yeah right. (My English teacher is tough though. He actually follows the rule where C's are average, so a B is actually pretty good) i go to the worst high school in quebec, and it's one of the top 10 worst schools in canada. about 90% of the teachers don't have degrees. and 98% of the school smokes pot daily, and about 45% of them do worse drugs. and almost everyone smokes. i don't like my school. Flyingjj
Well, since everyone's sharing, I graduated with something like a 4.2 cumulative GPA. My school only offered like 7 AP classes, so I took them all plus one online. We had no honors classes either :( . I graduated 1 of like 450ish. And the scale varies so much from school to school, that it is very difficult to make comparisons. For example, my school's GPA scale was as follows: AP Classes: A - 5.0 B - 4.0 C - 3.0 D - 1.0 F - 0.0 Normal: A - 4.0 B - 3.0 C - 2.0 D -1.0 F - 0.0 And the grading scale, in percentages: 100-93 : A 92-85 : B 84-77 : C 76-70 : D Below 70 : F

Quoi_Tu
The fact that until my senior year of high school I didn't pay much attention to grades should tell you something. Of course, I did get into a good college I suppose. I'm also probably headed for graduate school, so it's generally more important to remember to enjoy yourself in high school. Don't be a complete slacker, but grades aren't everything. Our APs(and we had a lot of them) were on a 4 point scale + 2. So, yes, you could get an A++. Rebdragon
This person at my school never took a single challenging class, but she got straight A's since 7trh grade, thus she has a perfect 4.0 GPA, and is rank 10, out of 464, everyone hates her. Don't worry. People like that are the ones who get sent home crying when they go to the challenging schools they *think* they're ready for  . Hey N0M, don't worry man. Here at Cornell I still have yet to work as hard as I did at St. X (namely Junior year). You know, the most challenging Ivy academically. Man our high school is evil. PoorLepRecon
I had something like a 3.6 my freshman year (grade 9). Last year, during my sophomore year (grade 10), I managed to get a 3.5 exactly. This year (grade 11) I am sitting on a 3.0, but I plan on raising it to a 3.5 so I can end first semester on a good note. My 3.5 gpa for both 9th and 10th grade has earned me 2 academic letters so far, and I plan on getting my 3rd and 4th so I can include more on my Letter Jacket. :D Forum Updates & Suggestions <------ Let your voice be heard!Forum Games <------- Coolest place on Tip.ItTip.It Forum Rules <------- Read them! I'm also probably headed for graduate school, so it's generally more important to remember to enjoy yourself in high school. Don't be a complete slacker, but grades aren't everything. Very true. I really stopped focusing on academics my senior year and really just enjoyed myself. I still did well in all my classes, though I did get a B in AP English because I practically flunked my final project. I just wasn't motivated. Hmmm...I wonder why :?:  Now in College, I worry less about academics than everyone around me. Everyone is already worried about getting into a good grad school and its only freshman year. I thought this was supposed to be one of the more laid back top schools in the nation. Though I plan on going to grad school, I guess I just tell myself if I don't get into the best, it's really only a name. After all, the academics were supposed to be challenging here, but I just find I have more free time than ever. I guess I have room to talk though, I got As on all my midterms. I do think I got a little lucky and got into relatively easy classes, but definitely not by choice. Next semester I'm looking for a challenge. Saru Inc
Geometry really [bleep]ed me over, I studied a lot, yet my quarter grades were: C, D, C, B Damn, it [bleep]ed up my GPA over all. That and Spanish 1 \ Keyboarding, I took those in 8th grade, so I only got B's, when I could have easily gotten A's. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Lenticular_J
As long as I get better than a 3.0, I'm fine at graduation, because I can likely get most of a scholarship somewhere nice. And I can hopefully get a student loan by that time. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
ugafan_2009
I'm slacking big time my senior year, but I've held a 3.98 my first 3 years which should me get into any college I really want to apply. Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651
assassin_696
The British system pretty much just works on letter denoted grades at GCSE ranging from G -> A*. Then at AS and A2 level (A-level) you take multiple modular exams each (very roughly) out of 100 UMS marks. So you take three for an AS level in the subject and 6 for an A2 level in it. 480/600 and above is an A at A2, and the system just works from U (fail) starting again at E -> A. Scholarships are not as rampant as people make them out to be; that is of course unless you lie about things like religion, nationality, or any other assorted things. How am I doing this semester? Horrible. The good thing is that everyone else in my graduating class isn't doing much better either. I have like 2 D's, 2 C's, and 1 B right now. After curving I expect around a 2.6 gpa for the semester. The average gpa for this semester is probably going to be around a 2.8 or worse considering I am at the average or above the average in every class. Nadril
I'm doing bad if you look at my overall GPA... so don't really want to talk about that. I'm hoping this semester will be better though, aiming for at least a 3.0 or higher. I figure my grades are somewhere along these lines: layout and design: A Graphic Design: A (I know this one already) Inks and Substrates: A-B (hoping A) Sociology: C (doing poorly in this class) ELS + Lab: B-C (depending on how much the lab factors in). deloriagod
I'm not doing that great right now, I have like a 3.0 [bleep] and I'm a sophomore. That's bad? I'm a high school senior with a 2.6 right now. I'd kill to get up to a 3.0 before graduation. Freshman year I managed something like a 3.85 but it's gone downhill from there.. Nadril
Yeah 3.0 is a solid B average, I don't see how that is bad by any means. Than again, as always, most people on TIF have a GPA of 4.0 or higher. Who woulda thought?
ThurinEthir
Yeah 3.0 is a solid B average, I don't see how that is bad by any means. Than again, as always, most people on TIF have a GPA of 4.0 or higher. Who woulda thought? I think it's because 99% of teachers up to 10th grade or so give out mainly A's and B's. So we think the average is a B+ or so, rather than a C. Which is okay, I guess. I mean, teachers don't want to give out many F's. Neither good for the student or for the teacher. But honestly, straight A's is nothing special any more. :? Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu.
