We used to have 100-90 being an A about seven years ago but they changed it. If it was that way, my GPA would be so much higher. My school is an IB school, and you only get 0.5 weight. I think AP classes are 0.5 here too. We don't have class ranks either. Each year my GPA has gone up. Freshman year: ~3.5, sophomore year: ~3.7, junior year: ~3.8, and so far this year it's over a 4.0. Don't know the exact average though. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Here in the Netherlands we have a 1-10 marking system. 1 is very bad, can't go lower than that. 1-5.5 isn't good, when I didn't study Greek at all last year I got a 2.2. 5.5 is sufficient. 6.5 is the average you need over all classes to pass to the next year. 7-8 is, depending on the subject, considered quite good. 8-9 is good enough, no one will ever complain if you get that. 9+ is awesome. 10 is every question right. I've been getting 5.9-8.6 averages this year, lowest being 5.9 for Physics (fail chapter, extremely bad at electricity) and highest 8.6 for both English and Maths. And, just for the heck of it my Sixth Grade NRT scores. Now, as a sophomore, I pulled a 3.8 GPA first quarter (with no Honors classes :thumbsup: )and currently waiting on Finals for first semester. (Might do a little worse 2nd quarter, Geometry grade went from A- to B- :( ) 99 WC - 12/20/08! =D99 Defence - 6/19/09! 44,012 to reach it! Aiming for 2000 Total Lvl! I'm not stopping till I get my 90+ in all classes. TyGod I don't have parents who freak about grades. If it's -80, its bad, get it up! (grounded). 80-90: Good job! But you can do better. 90+: cha-ching :mrgreen: AP Euro is evil though so, my aim is 85+ w/o curve. managed an 85 (5 point curve) this quarter...so...ehh...fun class though...Mr. Patterson is insane. I suppose everyone wants to be among the best in order to receive huge scholarships and opportunities to go to the university that they like the most. Unweighted it's a 3.29. I'm ranked 106th in my class though, which puts me at the top 20%, which kinda sucks, but I'm doing better this (Junior) year than I had been the last 2. Plus, if I keep in the top 20%, I'm guaranteed a place in college here (Florida). Oh, and Cabbage - according to our system (in Florida at least, should be the whole US), you have a C. B is 80-89 (or if they do rounding, 79.5-89.4). I can't remember the last time I did a homework assignment that wasn't a major project at home, and I get A's and B's. Then again, I have over an hour for lunch (compared to the regular half hour), and most of the time I'm done with my work in my Gaming class early, so I have a lot of time to do spare work. Either way, I rarely do work outside of school, which is rather amazing. I usually just spend time in my next class doing work for the previous one. (my school is also pretty hard compared to most, before I transferred, i had all As without barely any effort. I could probably pull off a 90 if I applied myself, but this year I swear the school was trying to screw me over. Almost every time I have a test or two, the night before I have a football practice and a hockey game. And do private schools give harder tests/courses compared to public schools?
