November 26, 200817 yr Yes i'm aware that most of you cannot drive, still disscuss though with fuel rising to over a dollar a liter, is it really a good idea to own a hummer or other large vehicles just for driving around? IMO trucks should be used for hauling, but if your just commuting, a honda civic or even a 'smart car' makes more sence. {DeviantART}{Last.Fm}{Join Sublime GFX, great community for artists!}Back to RuneScape, Again.Avatar by Brian The Great
November 26, 200817 yr I hate when people drive massive cars. Not only does it consume more fuel than needed, you can't see [cabbage] when your next to them.
November 26, 200817 yr Well now that gas is under $2 a gallon here in the states, I'm sure were going to see a last ditch effort to push more SUVs out on the roads. I personally am all for small gas friendly cars. I feel like a hypocrite because I drive a silverado, but I was given the truck so in all honesty I really can't complain.
November 26, 200817 yr I've never understood why anyone would need a 4WD, SUV or glorified ute for day to day driving. Hell, most of the ones you see haven't got a speck of dust or mud on them. I doubt that many of them are actually used for their intended purpose. Varrock Library: Shattered Sky | Silent Thunder | The Emperor's FinestAstri @ MythWeavers

November 26, 200817 yr I consider SUV's solely as vanity products as most built nowadays aren't even built for their intended purpose, off-road transportation. Most wouldn't even last on a 4x4 track. There's no need for them, they use excessive petrol and cost a lot. Really useful post there as well Knightlite  [/sarcasm]

I still cringe every time I see the cheerleader with a pink hummer, though. *shiver*. YOU! ATTEND TET EVENTS! CLICK HERE!

November 26, 200817 yr Well obviously cheaper to run cars are the smarter option. But people do need 4WD's. Large families, outback folk coming into the city to get stuff. My first car will most likely be a 4WD work ute, so that I can go offroad and camping as well as use it for work. And if people can afford the petrol, they can drive what they want ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!

November 26, 200817 yr Well, fuel costs over 1,30 EUROs per liter where I live. That'll teach you for owning gas guzzlers... Anyway, with a maximum speed of 120 km/h, and the fact that in the Netherlands there's zero rough terrain that REQUIRES 4wd, I'm all for economic cars. I'm aware of the fact that in other countries it is not really realitsic to drive through the county side with a SMART or something, but there is no need for a V12 4 liter 4wd in 95% or alll areas. As posted before, it's a luxury item, or maybe compensation for little.....*pinky finger*.... Other data was removed when acoount got hacked...
November 26, 200817 yr Unleaded is under $1/L for the first time a year... diesel is going alright, around the $1.2x-$1.3(<5) mark. That aside, my 4x4 gets more off-road use than on compared to most people... it's a bit o fa DD right now since my SO has no car and seems to think I need to buy her one  Anyhow... 4x4's are not a vehicle to haul kids around in, get a station wagon or minivan for that kind of thing.
November 26, 200817 yr for people who have a car only for the purpose of getting from A to B in a decently comfortable, easy and cost effect manner, then small cars are great. i have no problem with small cars its just i wouldn't want one myself. that said people who have cars for more than getting from A to B. the kind of people that may have been brought up in a car loving environment and have the knick for working on cars (some people just pick up spanners and know what to do from birth, while others wouldn't know what the underside of there bonnet looks like except for when they fill there washer bottle and struggle to change a tyre when they get a flat) shouldn't be punished for driving the car they love. im one of the second group of people i mentioned above (i look at cars and see more than just transportation appliances), and i love working on my one tonner (pic - not mine but same model) as well as my 180B (currently rebuilding an L18 and fitting SSS hitachi SU's to it for anyone interested). I would be absolutely devastated and would feel betrayed by my government if i had to pay a fee just to drive my big, gas guzzling vehicle. I dont mind paying extra for petrol though, because it goes into what i do in my spare time. Some people spend there spare cash on computer games, golf clubs, boats or whatever they enjoy. i just happen to spend mine on cars because thats what i enjoy, it just a bonus it also gets me from A to B. People should be encouraged to use eco-friendly cars through tax incentives, rather than punished for driving gas guzzlers in hindsight. exactly. reduce taxes for people who use cars as transportation, dont start charging extra for people who use cars as there fun and enjoyment after school/work. if they start charging extra for big vehicles, why dont they charge extra for people who play golf? maybe put in some taxes to bring the price of golf balls/clubs up so all the people who play golf for fun have to pay more like all the people who tinker with cars for fun. excatly... an f150 with 2 hemi's being used to drive to the co-op? fail. a f150 with 2 engines? i dont know of any vehicle having 2 engines both with combustion chambers of a hemispherical shape, let alone 2 engines at all. I've never understood why anyone would need a 4WD, SUV or glorified ute for day to day driving. Hell, most of the ones you see haven't got a speck of dust or mud on them. I doubt that many of them are actually used for their intended purpose. you dont need one, just like people who play golf dont need to play golf to survive, and people who build model trains dont need to build model trains either. i also doubt most model trains ever get stacked with coal or other items and transport them from one point to another for any real purpose either. a honda civic or even a 'smart car' makes more sence. honda civic ok, but not a smart car. smart cars are for people who dont have a car for fun, and don't even have them for basic transport. people with smart cars go one step lower, they have them to get killed. ... As posted before, it's a luxury item, or maybe compensation for little.....*pinky finger*.... i have a HUGE *pinky finger*. trust me its hell of alot longer than my index finger.

My support for tax relief for those who use eco-friendly cars isn't due to any sympathy with drivers about how much they "have" to pay for public roads. It's because we need to clean up our act with fossil fuels and a significant amount of pollution comes from cars. We also need to find a way to pay for an extension to our public transport. As far as I'm concerned, especially since I live in a country only 500 miles long where it takes only two and a half hours by train to reach the capital, most car users don't need cars to function. When they talk about how the government increases taxes for things they have to use, it annoys me. Cars are a luxury item, and should be taxed as such. But this is digressing from the point of this thread... | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

November 26, 200817 yr with fuel rising to over a dollar a liter  Gas here went over a Euro a liter 5 or so years ago. This summer it got up to about 1.57/L (Americans: Around 11$-12$/Gallon), gas is extremely cheap in America and always has been.

It's completely irrelevant to compare those two. Golf doesn't produce harmful Co2 gases or consume more petrol which is obviously enough gradual getting lower. Taxing people for an outdoor activity which promotes better health and fitness while not producing harmful side effects is just crazy. Wouldn't care about taxing the transportation aspect of golf, driving to and back from the Golf Club but taxing them extra for the actual Golf? That's actually an incentive not to exercise and further improve their health, sure makes a lot of health :|
November 26, 200817 yr I have a Nissan Frontier, 2003, 4stroke, it gets around 25MPG, and I use it for mainly commuting and hauling stuff. Nice little truck, let me get a pic. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
November 26, 200817 yr I have nothing against big gas guzzlers, people with enough money or enough financial stupidity will always buy them; if I had a bunch of extra money I probably would also. To get mad at someone for buying a gas-guzzler is like a vegetarian getting mad @ someone who eats meat; it will happen anyway and trying to convince one person to stop is just too nominal to do anything. November 26, 200817 yr Gas prices? My dad gassed up for $1.56 a gallon yesterday. Not too concerned right now... even though it IS going to go back up eventually. I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete. So, what is 1.111... equal to?10/9. Please don't continue.

That's, like, 27p a litre if my maths is right at current exchange rates. For context, the average price in the UK right now for a litre of unleaded is 92.3p. The motorists here would happily take your price. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
November 26, 200817 yr I'll need a 4WD truck for my work in a couple years. But if you live in the city, a four-door sedan is really all you need. Why's it so expensive in Europe? catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
November 26, 200817 yr I'll need a 4WD truck for my work in a couple years. But if you live in the city, a four-door sedan is really all you need. Why's it so expensive in Europe? Not entirely sure on this, but I think a lot of it is down to taxes and also importing Oil instead of producing it like America does. In Ireland something like 65% of the Petrol price is tax.
