Xanotex
Reporting is bad, mmkay. I agree! Making the game better is so bad! Seriously, why would we report people and make the game better wtf that makes no sense at all@@@ /sarcasm. Like I said before, you shouldn't be worried, maybe he'll learn his lesson and play the game fair. I have one point to make though, many people in this topic compare this situation with like driving drunk or taking drugs. Seriously, that has nothing to do with it. Driving drunk or taking drugs is the same situation but have different impacts. They are dangerous, I don't see anything dangerous about macroing so just stop comparing those two. You did the right thing. I give up. :wall: That is very true, people will ALWAYS try to cheat in games because they want a lot of things, on an easy way. And if you are a gamer with a grain of respect, you will report anyone trying to cheat, friend or not. Would you like to work 3 months for a Thieving Skillcape (Yes I know 3 months is too much but it's an example.) and then meet someone that ADMITS he got one by macroing in a week? Well no, personally I don't. I wouldn't mind getting owned if he got the skillcape in a week on his own but if he used something to get it faster and you worked so hard for it while he just sat down with a donut and a medium diet coke watching a program do all the work then go show-off with his cape? They DESERVE to get reported, banned not for cheating. No not at all, cheating is normal, everybody wants things easier and faster. But for getting respect they do not deserve. However I do not find Chinning or any other thing that speeds up XP by A LOT disturbing because it's still that person on the computer clicking everything and that's all a gamer needs. + if you are a real gamer, you wouldn't use cheats. ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang m8
kudos6969
Never grass on your friends, you should be banned instead for that! :D yeah that would be nice On topic. I cant beleave people would choose a game over a freindship, thats where it gets pathetic, just because you have not met the person in real life does not mean you cant be freinds. Things may change if you were to meet said people in real life because they had lied but that situation could equaly arise without meeting them by being honest in the first place. You are both playing a game you enjoy, and getting along. you talk and you have fun. You learn to trust them. You arrange things to do together such as gwd, yet you say it cannot be a freindship? reporting freinds is unjustified and immature, your taking something they are doing for their own very small benefit (its not even always a benefit) and in turn, reporting them for your own selfish pleasure, wheather it be the fact you wearnt really there friend. In which case feel free to report soemone you dont know and have an emotional connection with, or being under the impression that it actualy helps you in becoming a mod. (pathetic you only want the silver crown). i really doubt anyone would report their best friend in real life, and i personnaly have the ability to treat a freind in a game ive never met who i have come to trust and get along with with the same respect. If you dont know the person then yeah feel free to report them same goes for seeing soemone causing mischief outside your house and ringing the police, but thats irrelevant as this topic is about reporting your FRIENDS. Stopped reading there. If your friend enjoys playing Runescape then he would not Macro his levels. What's fun about watching a robot do the work? And now to use one of the examples So many people have had. Like you said, you learn to trust them and stuff. You learn to trust them so much, that you give them a party hat just to wear it, what do they do? Log out. I got one question for you, Howmany people got scammed that way? Trusting a friend? The numbers would only shock you. Trusting someone you don't know is WRONG. That's like trusting an old man promising you candy if you get in his car. ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang m8

And if you are a gamer with a grain of respect, you will report anyone trying to cheat, friend or not. .... Riiiight, just drag the whole real gamer community through the dirt, we don't mind <_< . If you are a person with any sence of dignity, humility and loyalty, you wouldn't backfire on your friends. Simple as that. There, that totally made my point clear, Didn't it? The fact is that this is just a game. If you want to ruin something invaluable as a friendship over a system that doesn't even require your help to function, you are in my opinion one of those 'rat' gamers that would backfire on your friends in the wilderniss "Because there is no rule against it". And if you are upset about the fact that people got a thieving cape or whatever faster then you for whatever reason, then I welcome you to the hundreds of people with a thieving cape. In this game you are nothing but a number, a variable, you don't even own your account. Jagex does. And you value that above a friend. In this game, snitchers will be snitchers, and honest loyal people will always get the consequences. So don't quote me, neither me or you are convincable because we are stubborn. I know I am. Cha0sx
Depends on how good a friend they were if I reported; but most of the time, they deserve it. Lots of people work hard for their levels, and this punk shouldn't be cruising through easy street. I disagree with this "moral code" to never give in your friends; especially if they are [cabbage]ty ones who don't really care about you and you only know and speak to rarely in an online game. I won't report people for language though; RS is ridiculously harsh on that :P
Carl
I would never, ever report a good friend for something like that. I've seen other friends friendships crumble when they do something like reporting one. I wouldn't like it to happen to me, and, godforbid, if I was ever banned or something if using some type of illegal software/tools for RuneScape I would hope it wasn't a friend. They really were never your friends if they would report you, or you report them. :shame: RIP Michaelangelopolous
Raivyn
He means that games like Runescape show someones real personality, because they can do whatever they want since there is noone condemning them. All of this "don't snitch" and friends>game thing has me worried. Friendships should come before games but if Dharockslayer's quote has anything true to it at all...would you want to even be friends irl or online with someone who'd cheat in something as dumb as a game? (GTA is one thing, they encode cheats to be used, Runescape is quite another beast). Even more, if I was friends with said person irl, I would be worried about what else he/she would do if they'd thought there would be no obvious consequences. Taking responsibility for your actions is about as mature as it gets. So yeah, don't regret reporting that person. He cheated, he needs to pay his dues. And why should you care IF he does get banned? He obviously doesn't enjoy the game if he has to cheat to progress. And besides losing an account on a game isn't the end of the world (contrary to the belief of many people who posted on this thread, apparently). Quoted for a slice of truth and a slice of pwncake. Madmanpur3
You don't report friends, period. On runescape, or in real life to the police...The moment you do report them, you no longer consider them a friend - and it's not just me saying this, that's the way friendships work. Friend's look out for each other's best interests and when you start reporting them, that's no longer looking out for their best interest. Friends disagree with each other, friends talk to each other, but they don't turn each other in to authorities they have no relations with (telling their parents is one thing, telling cops is another). Also, please stop trying to discuss the morality of it...that's just 110% pure bs.
