People have to understand the situation, I was pissed, tired and I was angry on him and he was probaly angry on me.

 

There is a dutch saying that would perfectly fit I guess.. It means that when one is in an obnoxious(sp?) situation, he does weird things that he later regrets.

I got reported by my 'friend' for my offensive Clan chat name. I just look back at it now as an opportunity to get more space on my friends list. If 'friends' report you without even warning you, they aren't your friends.

 

 

 

But what is the huge difference between telling them your going to report them and then reporting them and not?

 

The difference is that the friend has an oppertunity to halt his 'evil' actions, before being sentenced life.

 

 

 

Something similar happened to me, I met some dude on my pure when he was at cows and he asked to add my main. At the time I had space, so I said, "Sure, why not?" Then I went on my main and then called him a bish because he was asking so many rubbish questions, and then he claimed he wouldn't report me. Didn't bother me anyway, but I had a black mark on my acc for a while before it was deferred.

But back on-topic; there was on really good friend I knew from other games (we were in a giant clan once, owned some Shaos back on Hero Online ) and he was probably the top scammer in RS; he was able to scam about 1-2m worth of stuff in his first month of playing and much more accounts. I never reported him though (like mentioned before, Jagex wouldn't have taken "my word" for it). But this guy - if he's really a good rl friend, you shouldn't have done that to him. Just give him some items and help him start over :pray:

I love how all of you are like, "Yeah, report that cheater! I would!" Who the hell values something like runescape over a real friendship? IMO what you did shows a huge lack of maturity and spitefullness...think before you act.

 

 

 

Really? A "real friendship"? That's absolutely disgusting. That "friend" is some kid behind a computer which the author has no real association with. How is that a real friendship? And how is reporting said anonymous kid immature? It's not. Taking responsibility for your actions is about as mature as it gets.

 

 

 

So yeah, don't regret reporting that person. He cheated, he needs to pay his dues. And why should you care IF he does get banned? He obviously doesn't enjoy the game if he has to cheat to progress. And besides losing an account on a game isn't the end of the world (contrary to the belief of many people who posted on this thread, apparently).

I just had a fight with my friend and I knew for a fact that he was using illegal 3rd party software and I reported him. Then a while later I started thinking what if he got permed :? I now really regret it. Not going to name names btw.

i truely hope with illegal 3rd party software you dont mean a client liek swiftkit. cos in that case you could pretty much report 90% of all users on tif :P (besides SK not being illegal btw)

 

 

 

 

 

other than that i think you have done the morally right thing but i wouldnt have done it, there are things more important than rules. ive had many friends that did stuff against rules too (drop trading, double logging, auto clickers, even macros) although i didnt condone it, and ive awasy told them not to do it and that i have no respect for it, i take a good rs buddy over the rules (at least most of the times :P)

you didn't do anything wrong, one less macroer in the game is good for the game. your choice to report someone doing something illegal is good. i personally wouldn't but thats a moral choice I made. Runescape states that macroeing is an illegal act. thus its illegal, doesnt matter if its a friend or stranger performing it

Problem is, GTA's community isn't even close to what RuneScape's is. I'll admit, most everyone has cheated at console games, if only to see what the light at the end of the tunnel was like, but with RuneScape, it becomes way different. If you don't know how serious rulebreakers' influence was on the community, look in the news archives over a year ago.
