What funny craze have you been through?

IMHO, yugioh was a GOOD card game. Yes, I said it. -.- It was like the only simple card game. Attack and the bigger number wins. How much more simple can it get? And I know there were all the magic cards and stuff but lets just forget them.

Reason most people hated it was because of that. They took a right step when they upped the level of difficulty and complexity. It is now a very complex game with tons of stragtegy required (either that or $500+ to buy the tournament winning decks -.-)

I don't think the reason most people hated it was because they upped the difficulty.. in fact; I had no idea they had done that until you posted it.

Most people just grew out of the TV series & all it's perks.

"To all you youngsters reading this, if you are under 25 STOP PLAYING THIS GAME RIGHT NOW. Life is to short and you are only that young once. Trust me when i say this, take advantage of the girls now. Once they are 25+ and have been around a few times they arnt dumb anymore, the fun is all over."

I've been though a lot. Yo-yos, Crazy Bones, Beyblades, Yugioh cards, Pokemon, Diabolos, Scoobies, those tiny skateboards, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (everybody, including me, played this game), Dragonball Z, Top Trumps, rubber wristbands, Tamagotchis, and obviously RuneScape.

Some of the crazes I never tried because they were not my kind of thing, such as Beyblades, Yugioh, Pokemon and those tiny skateboards.

Others I dived into when they happened, such as the Mario game, DBZ, RS, and Top Trumps.

The rest I tried once then never did them again.

Crazes can be fun.

When I was in middle school, there was also an odd craze with Spongebob. All of the "gangster" guys wore Spongebob jeans and backpacks

Gangsta kids here in the messed up Midwest are still doing that. Spongebob and Batman.

I helped break my school of the beanie baby craze. Let's just say my school was a three story brick building and when thrown hard enough beanie babies stick to bricks. It was fun to watch first graders try to jump up and grab a beanie baby about twenty feet higher than them. I would also buy Pokemon/Yugioh cards from first graders for a quarter and sell them to the upper grades for a dollar+. Good times, good times. Bought a "holographic" charizard from a lower grade kid for ten bucks and sold it for thirty. I used to merchant in RS if you couldn't tell. :D

Yu-gi-oh cards used to be big for me too.

I also had a point where I was into Naruto... but then I lost interest.

Also, there has been a Star Trek craze where I watched it everyday.

Other TV Show crazes: Stargate SG1, Battlestar Galatical (old series)

(BTW: if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a nerd, or as I like to say, nerb (nerdy noob))

^ That reminds me of my Naruto craze I went through at a couple years ago. 80 bucks wasted on 8 manga volumes, damn it.

Youtube dubbed episodes ftw?

Pokemon.

I was in 6th grade when the little yellow Pikachu toy came out and the craze erupted. I still have my huge binder of cards. I went to tournaments at local card shops, conventions, etc. Even tournaments for the original game. Good times

A few years later I wasted all my money on yu-gi-oh cards... they where the biggest waste ever...

actually the rare ones are worth a nice amount of money.

I know, I sold all mine.

anyways...theres a current craze with me and some freinds, nintendo merchandise.

oh, and chocobos and everything to do with them. thats mostly me though.

worked it out and I actually profited from the hundreds of packs I bought.

The LEGO craze. When I was younger everyone played with them and now I have over 50 pounds worth of them. I feel sorry for my mother who spent all that money on tiny pieces of plastic. I promised myself that I will keep all mine and give them to my children so they won't be wasted.

Some of the common ones mentioned with those beyblade things and various cards. attempted skatebording (but sucked). Guitar (sucked), archery was good but too costly to manage my Compound Bow these days. Tai Kwon Do, Watching/reading Anime (mostly Bleach) and collecting swords i still do though. 8-)

Edit: AND LEGO! Theres no way lego can become childish, the things you can build with those blocks.

Hmm... I was the kid who made fun of the kids playing Pokemon. Does that count? After about 5th grade those fell out of style, though. I was unfortunately part of the 1st generation of Pokemon card dorks. 1998 was a horrible time to be in 3rd grade.

And as a bonus, just because I am bored, here's a list of other fads I ridiculed:

() Digimon

() Naruto/ anime in general. Openly and unapologetically, I might add.

() Tech Decks

() Tops (Beyblades had not been invented when kids my age were young enough to think they were cool)

() Pogs (I think my school was trapped about 2 decades in the past on this one)

() Virtual pets (now honestly, those things are as boring as a bag of yard waste)

() Hawaiian shirts (inappropriate where I live)

() American Idol

() Survivor

() Spongebob (I think it's annoying as hell)

I think the only real craze that I fell into was with LEGOS. But I don't think there is a lower-middle class + kid alive who has never played with them.
