The biggest "Screw you" moment in a game

What I mean by this is a moment when you are on the last part of a level in COD4 on hardcore and you toss a grenade, it hits an invisible wall and you get killed. Its basically when the game bugs up on you in the middle of a big fight, when you are on the boss, get him down to just a millionth a centimeter of health, and you get caught on a wall, are stuck, and get cut in half.

Its also when you play through a game only to find out that there is a cliffhanger story, or the story goes to absolute [developmentally delayed] land.

That happened in GoW 2 like 10 times. In the same part. You know that part where you gotta chainsaw and grenade that giant fish thing in the tiny boat. Our guys would get like stuck in the air and not be able to move, so we had to retry it like 50 times. Pissed me off so much.

Oh yeah, it happens in I Want To Be The Guy a lot, like almost every level/boss.

I always hated that aspect of video gaming.. A lot of games have buggy designs, so your hour of 'work' can be totally erased by an error you didn't even make at all.

Like clearing your way through a level of intense enemies, then at the near-ending, you throw a grenade at a stock enemy..

Only to have it bounce through an obstacle's invisible barrier (such as a crate with an overly high-coded 'hitbox' compared to the actual graphic texture) back to you, and you die. It makes you wonder why you're wasting time on this crap

Most latest is in Left 4 Dead, when you have a tank coming to you just as you reach the safe house only to find that the tank spawns right outside of it, after you've already fought a tank, and the most randomist amount of hordes ever, with no molotovs to be found anywhere, on the third chapter(longest one). Freaking ridiculous AI Director.

Another one I can think of is when you're at the end of a level, and your teammate just teamkills everyone and then does idiotical stuff until they die. On any game. >.>

Fire Emblem:

I finish any level near perfectly, at the boss, boss is near death, I send someone with around 80%+ chance to hit, boss has under 40%, I miss, he/she hits and kills whoever I sent to attack. It happens too often. It even happened on the first level...

Ahhh I hate when stuff like that happens. Worse is when you leave a unit open because there's next to no chance that he'll die in the enemy phase, and lo, every enemy with a 20% chance of hitting lands one and your guy gets destroyed.

I also hate healing items, it pisses me off when the boss can heal all the damage your unit just did at the expense of half his health. Case in point: the Black Knight. [bleep] him.

Getting lost...*cough* Halo 3*cough*

Sometimes they make the level is epic and large that you have to do something to trigger the continuation of the level. Miss that trigger and you're screwed! Go back from the end, then lose all your sense of direction...

But also when lag kicks in (my experience with lag mostly comes with MMOs.)...Trying to keep my group alive, lag, we all die and I get blamed for it. :wall:

In any given Pokemon game, where you raise only your starter Pokemon and it gets KOed at the Elite Four only to have a level 11 Pidgey, Level 7 Caterpie and a level 23 Geodude in your backpack.

Think another one was that one of the enemies with pretty much no chance has a 1% critical chance, and manages to land that

One of the worst comes in Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia

Sometimes, Splinter Cell will do an autosave, which will be your checkpoint if you die. Sometimes, enemies will be chasing you, theres no hope of escape and you die...over and over...NO WAY TO WIN!!! And it does this all the time in a whole bunch of scenarios.

I played Prince of Persia today, and I don't know if this is a bug that is on every game or not (I got mine used) but their is a part where you kill a bunch of enemies in a fountain room. At the end is a pressure pad. I decided to save, and I ended up touching the pressure pad...O.K, I died because I was not supposed to do that.

Next thing I know, every step I take it tells me "YOU FAILED." WHY? WHAT THE [bleep]?

So, I played two and a half hours into it, and it bugs out, and I have to restart the game all over again? What the hell?

All because I saved the game?

Argh. Mercenaries 2, I couldn't hijack a helicopter.

So I put in cheats and nuked the [cabbage] out of an entire city for two and a half hours :3

I played a mission on there, where I needed to escort a guy who came in on a chopper. He was so eager to meet me, he fell off the building he was on and plunged to his death...and also, there was a helipad, a bunch of guys walk off it, and fall four feet to their death! What the hell?

I never had a problem with this...I usually level grind a lot before going anywhere when I capture a new pokemon.

Lucario and Swellow FTW!

Back when I was playing some MMO I forgot the name of. (Haven't played since 2004). In corner of screen - Server Shutdown in 3:00. I didn't notice this and you have to save your progress when you log out. I got from level 25-80 and gained 4k XP in a really hard skill.

Down the drain.

I threw my computer out the window.

Mario Kart for the Wii. You're driving in first place for most of the race, approaching the finish line on your final lap and are way ahead of the pack. Suddenly, as you're turning a corner, a blue shell blows you into the air. After you slowly accelerate to regular speed, a stray red shell catches up with you, stopping you again. You begin to accelerate once more, then a second place supersized cart squishes you flat. You return to regular size, only to have someone with a star run into you, blasting you off of the level. Twenty seconds later, right as you're placed back onto the track, you get railed by the former last placed bullet bill. This sums up half of the out of control races in mario kart. :)

I played a whole season on FIFA (approximately 60 games at ten minutes each), for an achievement. It didn't give it to me. So, I tried again. IT DIDN'T GIVE IT TO ME. I'm on my third season now, playing with an Australian side so I only have to play like sixteen games. -.-

The most annoying moment like that, that I ran into was in ffX. You spend hours training only to have your party wiped out in 1 hit by Seymour on mt. gagazet.

Besides that just minor glitches that annoyed me (or in the case of god of war made me fall through the floor in hades and start all over).
