Holiday "events" just seem so contrived these days. Bring back the days of scythes and bunny ears just showing up out of nowhere and let us have our own holiday fun. (I say scythes and ears because they were untradeable...P hats/Masks/Etc. were nice, but gave such a huge economic advantage to those playing back then over time, which isn't right.)

I'm sorry, but Halloween 2006 definitely had the coolest rewards - the skeleton costume.

Seriously, its more complete than the Zombie Costume (Zombie's shirt doesn't have sleeves) and looks better IMHO.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

Actually, that costume does rock, especially with the optional pumpkin head.

No, those were not the good ones. They are the ones that ruined the economy.

im actually glad phats are rising, you are probably the most annoyed by this.

rares gave a point to the economy, you really have no idea what you are talking about at all.

Nothing can live up to Christmas of '05 in my mind.

I can still picture the cutscene showing the gigantic tree in place of the Varrock fountain...oh yes, that was wonderful...

I love my easter ring

Can't say that the one we had today wasn't good though, it was entertaining.

Meh, I've long forgotten most of the holiday events I was there for. I just know the rewards I liked. Rubber chicken and easter ring. All else is just mediocre.

But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

Well, I really don't mind doing those holiday event, some of them are fine, but alot of them are quite repetitive, and I really just want to get the emote and the items so I can start my training again.

Of course, hitting people with holiday items is always a big plus for me, I would rather have the rubber chicken then full set of phat, so that carrot sounds like a good idea to me

a happy Runescaper

Enjoyed it more when it didnt have a silly quest. Prefer just gave a gift/allowed you interact with others in a festive way. Or both of them even.

Today was a complete soloable festive miniquest which seems pointless. Should allow something new and fun people interact with their friends. But not forced.. no reward for doing that.. the reward should be given straight away and a choice to have some fun with friends.

..And when you got a great opportunity like making a wacking carrot.. Its a good idea to make it look cool, sound cool, hit people over the head cool. Not a moldy carrot, sounds weird, cheap animation. Seriously it isnt THAT hard to improve the quality of that carrot. I dont care but seriously.. c'mon. They waste updates by cheap work that could very easilly be better quality.

The carrot doesnt feel right.. The chicken before is awesome! That carrot is a bit bizarre.

In all honesty this miniquest was extremely repetitive and the kind of miniquest I do not enjoy in any form whatsoever. It looked alot like older easter events which made it a bit of a ground hog day which is a shame. The damn bunny hasnt done his job all the way to retirement. Im the easter bunny. I dont count on his son doing any better next year.

Father like son imo. New fresh ideas would be nice. The nearest jagex gone to making a fun interact miniquest was that event that had snowball fights in it. Besides that - Give the gift and no miniquest was better than what they give nowadays.

I know from experience and my personaly taste that people enjoyed that snowball fight one than these miniquest ones that just involves people running around confused. Even I spent 2 minutes finding that squirrel...! Maybe there was a clue but the crowds made it hard to find him. That wasnt fun...

I think we should ease up on the criticism. The carrot , although useless, looks like a war club whic would be pretty badass for dressing up. Then add to that the awesome april fools event that just ended. Seems to me we don't have much to complain about.

[hide]

Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.-

[/hide]

I actually like the carrot. :?

SWAG

Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

The event was OK, but not like I was falling out of my chair with awe. After Halloween and Christmas of '08, this Easter doesn't seem as good.

And I thought they were now doing a quest too for F2P, where's that? Unless I misunderstood them...

Rewards wise, yeah the idea was VERY unoriginal, they already had a chicken to whack people with. Now it's just a carrot. They were countless other ideas they could have done, and usually Jagex is more creative than that.

Have to give em props on the emote though, that looks so cool! Also, I think this event had one of the best storylines. Overall, I am not really satisfied with the unoriginal reward, but the event itself is what I look forward too anyway. Seems to me as though Jagex really did not try for the reward, but the event was really cool so who cares! :P

Big_Stingman.png

i havent done the even yet, the weildeble carrot sounds pretty stupid though.

Pit_Guardian.png

Gamertag: EFs Predator.

Games I play: Halo 3, Halo wars.

my nostalgia comes from the fact that the old holiday events didnt require some long annoying quest some crazy puzzle or anything. Just a simple task to be given a reward. Such as trading easter eggs to players (easter 05). Or just talking to santa (christmas 04). Even when it was dropped. *my friend got both the bunny ears and scythe before he got banned*

now holiday events are just ugh..

Exactly, when it was more player to player interaction and social it was way better than the quests now. It's just a big pile of people doing their quest line and people yammering about what to do.

I've been to the Crunch once...

(Keep in mind these are just my thoughts as they come.I did not write this post beforehand.)

I've got to say my favorite was Easter of '05 (haha had to give it color  )which came just a few weeks after I started playing.I enjoyed the event and the reward (and I still do enjoy the reward).I liked this Easter's event as well.I was not impressed at all with the carrot.I think it should at least come with an emote like the rubber chicken,if they're gonna release hyped up old items they might as well give it an emote like the original right?I do however love the emote which I guess can be considered the emote like with the rubber chicken.I think we should be grateful that we even got an event anyway.Jagex doesn't even need to release these events so we should be glad they do rather than complain. :shame:

I am not saying anything about perfectly honest reviews on the releases though.

(I'm sure I messed up with my punctuation and such but don't feel like correcting haha.)

I resemble that remark!

Achieved quest cape for first time on: 4-2-09 WOOHOO!

Beat Nomad on 6-24-10 WOOHOO!.

331bfcd139.png

My first holiday event....I remember it and was there when it happened was easter eggs.

As I remember it, I got lost between edgeville and barbarian village and easter eggs appeared on the ground, so I picked them up and ate most of them xD

I wasn't on for haloween masks or santas, got a scythe and bunny ears on a dead and buried account though.

And to the guy who said "they ruined the economy", no they didn't.

Sure, some people made a quick buck selling them the day after, the wise people kept all theirs and some still have them. But they were only about 25k or a small price, yes "it wasn't the spirit of the game" as Jagex put it, but most people who were buying them after the drop were the whoarders who kept them for investments.

Anyways, if I had been smart enough back then, I'd be rich

Some of my favorites:

2001

Christmas: I started playing RuneScape in 2001, and this was the first holiday event that I experienced. Although I didn't get a party hat, the Christmas cracker was really cool!

2002

Easter: Hehehe, I totally ate my egg ;-; But it was still fun.

2006

Easter: To this day, using this to turn into an egg makes me LOL.

2008

Halloween: My favorite holiday event. While the costume isn't my favorite, the whole experience of the event was so cool: the decorations, the gloomier and doomier atmosphere, the music, and, of course, the ever-annoying but ever-so-fun emote.

Thanksgiving: Five words: Give Thanks - Best emote EVER. (I will never get tired of using this emote. EVER!!!)

glut.gif
2tchvHp.png

I didn't like this reward, it's just the rubber chicken but without the dance option :(

My fave event was the christmas 2007(?), where you make and paint presents, decorate the tree in varrok, and deliver presents to that stranger, and you get 4 different hats, scarves, and a coloured marrionette ^_^
