If you could make ONE religion real, which would it be?

Hands down Greek mythology. Believing in a god that got so many beautiful ladies pregnant by going through so much loops is badass.

Oh and not to mention these (wiki c/p)

[hide=]* Zeus turned Pandareus to stone for stealing the golden dog which had guarded him as an infant in the holy Dictaeon Cave of Crete.

* Zeus killed Salmoneus with a thunderbolt for attempting to impersonate him, riding around in a bronze chariot and loudly imitating thunder.

* Zeus turned Periphas into an eagle after his death, as a reward for being righteous and just.

* At the marriage of Zeus and Hera, a nymph named Chelone refused to attend. Zeus transformed her into a tortoise (chelone in Greek).

* Zeus, with Hera, turned King Haemus and Queen Rhodope into mountains (the Balkan mountains, or Stara Planina, and Rhodope mountains, respectively) for their vanity.

* Zeus condemned Tantalus to eternal torture in Tartarus for trying to trick the gods into eating the flesh of his butchered son.

* Zeus condemned Ixion to be tied to a fiery wheel for eternity as punishment for attempting to violate Hera.

* Zeus sunk the Telchines beneath the sea for blighting the earth with their fell magics.

* Zeus blinded the seer Phineus and sent the Harpies to plague him as punishment for revealing the secrets of the gods.

* Zeus rewarded Tiresias with a life three times the norm as reward for ruling in his favour when he and Hera contested which of the sexes gained the most pleasure from the act of love.

* Zeus punished Hera by having her hung upside down from the sky when she attempted to drown Heracles in a storm.

* Of all the children Zeus spawned, Heracles was often described as his favorite. Indeed, Heracles was often called by various gods and people as "the favorite son of Zeus", Zeus and Heracles were very close and in one story, where a tribe of earth-born Giants threatened Olympus and the Oracle at Delphi decreed that only the combined efforts of a lone god and mortal could stop the creature, Zeus chose Heracles to fight by his side. They proceeded to defeat the monsters.

* Athena has at times been called his favorite daughter.

* His sacred bird was the golden eagle, which he kept by his side at all times. Like him, the eagle was a symbol of strength, courage, and justice.

* His favourite tree was the oak, symbol of strength. Olive trees were also sacred to him.

* Zelus, Nike, Cratos and Bia were Zeus' retinue.

* Zeus condemned Prometheus to having his liver eaten by a giant eagle for giving the Flames of Olympus to the mortals.[/hide]

Odanism. Would be [bleep]ing badass when you die, getting to sit at Odan's table preparing for war.

Seriously, better than just sitting in the clouds with a bunch of Mormons all day.

If we're going for badass, I'd say Norse mythology. But any mythology has too many drawbacks, I don't want the gods getting pissed at me for screwing a woman or whatever. Edit- that was a bad example, that probably pertains more to other religions than mythology, if at all. But I hope you get my point. The gods know payback.

I'm not sure I'd make any religion real. I'm happy without worrying about going to hell, but having the philosophies hold a family together (my family is Christian, I'm somewhere between agnostic and atheist myself).

The trick of this is its always going to be greek or norse because you can't say a real religion because they already think its true :-#

Googlism.

On a serious note Norse or Greek. Those were awesome.

Did you seriously just say odan... It's Odin. O-D-I-N.

Anyway I would have to say Greek mythology. I like it better than any other it just seems much more developed and the gods arn't perfect. It almost makes you want to believe it. A lot better than a story about some guy walking around and telling people he is the son of god. Besides in Greek mythology if you told someone that it wouldn't be a defining factor, just join to 15,000 other "sons of god"

One that has a god or gods that doesn't mind humans being happy, and lets everyone go to a good afterlife. Because not existing anymore when you die kind of sucks, I'd like to live forever one way or another.

Rastafarianism.

Well, how do you mean? All the dogma and [cabbage]? None of them, I'd have been stuck dead and sent to hell and given plagues a thousand times. And since I already believe in God, that's good enough for me.

So voodoo.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Christianity. Yeah, I'm boring, and it's one I already believe is real (No I will not debate with you OT, everything's been said on this topic here), but the idea of a greater purpose is something I can't life my life without.

Hey guys, when your jokes aren't funny maybe you should try being serious for once.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Re-incarnation. Being able to live more then one life would actually be kind of cool. But with no idea of your previous life.

I'm talking about religions, not just an aspect of it. I know Hindus believe in reincarnation, but I personally don't agree with a lot of their beliefs.

Oh, I thought we meant...Nevermind, just whatever religon that supports re-incarnarion. I don't want the no eating beef crap and other worshipping junk, I just want to live forever, but under multiple lifes so I don't got insane.

I don't like the idea of adding any more religion than there already is. I see religion as more of a division between men rather than a path to salvation. Faith should be reached by personal means.
