Saru Inc
I run a mile a night (I've never been a runner, I'm just now getting into it, so I'm pretty out of shape.) A question: Does anyone know of a stretch for the well... I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to muscle names, so bare with me: The muscles below your knee at the back of your legs. Does that make sense? I hope so. I simply can't stretch em, I try every stretch possible and feel nothing, which means I'm not doing the stretches right... I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. aquariusman
Go into a push of position, and bring your butt up. Then have one leg rest on the heel of the other (You should be on the balls of your feet). Try to flatten out your foot on the ground, alternate feet. This is assuming you're talking about you calf? There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. This is assuming you're talking about you calf? yes, this is a good one, I've been doing it a lot recently since i've been going harder with heel raises and such (I'm suprisingly very sore). also standing up straight, putting one foot about a foot in front of where it would usually be and putting that knee forward (but not too far) is also a good stretch Staking: 4+ mil Current Status: Training defense
sithlord_man
My coach gave me the most amazing book ever... "Train Hard, Win Easy: The Kenyan Way" I swear this book is my bible. Only started it but I'm already in love with it. Supposedly, it more precious to my coach than my life. Which is true in my view too... 99 FM Acheived on Friday December 26th 2008Click for my blog|Mass Effect Discussion Thread|Nation Creation/Create your own Country Forums

depresins
How much running would I need to do each day before I start losing weight? How long is piece of string? You can take a total of one step and lose weight. Sure, it'll be unnoticeable, but you'll burn fat. It depends on your diet, lifestyle, age, sex, height, weight, climate, altitude, terrain, intensity and a slew of other factors I could list, but hopefully you've got the message by now. stevepole
I'm sure this isn't the best place to post this but it also makes the most sense to post it here, I was wondering what you guys thought of the Nike Free 5.0 v4 running shoes?
noble_aloof
my coach has actually suggested that everyone on the team picks up a pair of nike frees. my understanding is that they have limited cushioning and will basically force you to change form if you are not running properly. much like the vibram five fingers? there was a post about those shoes probably about 10 pages back. for this summer i'm seriously considering getting a pair of nike frees though, they seem like they could really help. I own a pair in black and I love them, they last pretty long too, Ive put over 1000 miles into them and they havent broken yet. Though once they do break I plan on switching to a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. I havent had an injury since I started even though I considerably upped my mileage. How2PK
So. I'm running for a few weeks now, and I really enjoy it. So me and my friend subscribed for the yearly coast marathon in october. It's the toughest marathon of our country, and it's suposed to be very beautiful. We've got nine months left for training, we're in average condition (my friend is a little bit behind due to a 7 week holiday to new zealand). At this moment the longest run I've had was a distance of about 15KM in 90 minutes (without stopping) and I didn't have much trouble with that (except for being a bit cold since it was -4, while I didn't know that and was wearing shorts and a t-shirt >.>). I ordered a heart-rate watch and a book with running schedules (which should arrive tomorrow) so I can start training in more focused way. I was wondering if there were any tips from people that have been running for a longer time and also did races/marathons, since I really am a noobie. I'm not doing this marathon to end as high as possible, by the way. I'm doing it to make it to the end and be proud of myself that I made this achievement. I think that so far my first goal is going to be to run half a marathon. And I want to achieve that in three months. To do that I want to run three times a week. One long run at a lower pace for endurance, one shorter run with higher speed and lastly one shorter run at a normal pace. I want to run on thuesday, friday and sunday. Monday and wednesday aren't resting days by the way, on those days I go to the gym but I don't run there. Only cardio I do there are walking 10 minutes (not running) to warm up a little and bike for 25 to 30 minutes. Other than those cardio exercises I'm mainly bussy on machines (chest, back, arm, and a few leg exercises). Is this doable? Am I not over-doing anything? Should I take more rest? I really enjoy doing all this, but I don't want to end up with some kind of nasty injury because I'm doing too much, so advice would be appreciated a lot. My length is 200CM and my weight is around 90KG by the way. I'm planning to lose some weight because I think that it will lower the blow on my legs while running (am I right in that?). I want to weigh somewhere between 80 and 85. Age 23, will be 24 when marathon is held. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! depresins
It doesn't always cause joint trouble. Its more on a case by case basis. I have 5 or 6 friends all 200cm+ and over 100kg who run at least 30km a week and play a high impact sport and only 1 of them has any joint trouble. It's his shoulders  You probably need more rest. Get rid of the bike ride on your gym days. Even replace your biking with medium intensity walking, it'll be of more use to you training for a specific event
sithlord_man
Ran a 600m in 1:52. I could have gone under 1:40 maybe if I wasn't sick and had trouble breathing on the last 150 meters of the run. Other than that, long jump today (hits some 14-15 foot jumps off a "board" 4 feet from the pit. Track Season Started for me, I'm so happy for that. 99 FM Acheived on Friday December 26th 2008Click for my blog|Mass Effect Discussion Thread|Nation Creation/Create your own Country Forums
Georgelemmons
Started the track season with a win  (Insanely easy mile, ran a 5:02 and came 20-25 seconds in front of the second place finisher). I held back a little, but I still want to be down around 4:45 when the track season really gets in swing. We'll see how that goes. sithlord_man
Completed a goal that I've wanted to get done for a long time. I finally ran the 1500M race in under 5 minutes. 4:53 1500, I'm really happy that I finally borke that mental and physical barrier that as annoyed me. Now I have to do that for the 1600M 99 FM Acheived on Friday December 26th 2008Click for my blog|Mass Effect Discussion Thread|Nation Creation/Create your own Country Forums
