What weapons would you like to see?

Featured Replies

RuneScape has several different weapons, but it still feels like the selection of weapons are very limited.

So my question is, what weapon or weapons would you most like to see added to RuneScape? (Putting stats aside)

I think I'd like to see a Buster/Great Sword(Something massive like that) and perhaps Rifles(Maybe rifles modified to look dwarven). We just don't have any oversized weapons, and I think that would really add to the atmosphere. Rifles would give the game a more fantasy feeling so fewer people would mistake RuneScape for a medieval game.

Like dragonfire shield absorbing dragon fire, and spirit shields having special features..

I think the next step in weaponry is that... Like the Ivandis Flail getting stronger as you use it I can see this happening with weaponry.

Maybe weapons that are good for monster hunting, I think anymore weaponry that will be able to PJ faster and more effectively would really make my blood boil.

I'd like to see more axes personally, faster than Dharoks but 2 handed, and strong would be nice, A God axe, RAWR

Great Sword? Oversized Sword? Sounds like a God Sword, if only we had one of those... or 4.

Also how would you possibly implement a rifle?

Yea I was thinking the same thing campbell....I don't think that rifles should be added to the game. It would create a different type of feel that wouldn't fit RuneScape.

Vadafone10.png

More Longswords like Vesta.

Also more Flails.

The Tolna's rift weapons, they look extremely awesome!

I would like to see, Staves (not staffs),

Great shields (shields with extremely high defense but lowers attack stats),

Magic swords (swords that have very high magic offense, because I don't like staffs),

Bolos (a throwing weapon meant to take out targets legs to stop them from running),

and small shields like bucklers, round shields, and small kite shields that would have less defense, but bucklers would give up to 25 stab, round would give up to 25 slash, and small kites would give up to 25 slash in offense. The shields would have no strength bonus.

*edit*

Oh I also want a good Rapier not this Rune scimitar clone that we have.

I also want to see, Basket swords, Sabers, Tulwars, and many Asian swords.

Another, less powerful/more powerful whip introduced through new Slayer monsters.

I piety the fool.

Katanas.

RuneScape would be a way better place if we had rogue-clothing wearing, katana-wielding ninjas running around. Don't you agree?

I'd love to see a two-handed cannon. Not a gun, but, a large device that you have to click on a cannonball in your inventory to load, then use a tinderbox with the fuse (also in your inventory) to fire. Then it hits a 3x3 area and deals up to 65 damage and stuns everyone

I'm not sure if something like this already exists. :geek:

I would love a boomerang type range weapon that would allow players to attack from a distance yet have the weapon fly back into their hands so it was reusable.

A special attack could have it hit multiple NPC's in one shot.

Oh.....if something like this does exist, let me know as it sounds rad! =P~

A particularly intense debate on that same topic comes to mind... I can't remember who was there, but we were talking about that same thing in the Chat the other day

I recall RuneScape players have been trying to get Jagex to add boomerangs for quite a few years now(I think all the way back to early RS2, I don't recall anyone talking about them in Classic).

But I think Boomerangs would be great. Wooden boomerangs, and then metal boomerangs all the way up to the Dragon Boomerang. They would have to be much weaker and slower than halberds though, just so Halberds still have a purpose.

ALSO: Someone said they don't see how rifles could be added.. Well rifles aren't much different than crossbows. They're just much stronger really(Except you probably couldn't poison the bullets or enchant them[silver bullets would be awesome though]). If Final Fantasy games and most fantasy MMORPG's can get away with rifles, then RuneScape can get away with having them too. I'm in favour of rifles AND hand-cannons. Spice up the game a little!

Katanas.

That would be cool, mabey slightly weaker then a scimmy, but faster?

A game that comes to mind when I saw this was Dragon quest 8. The hero can weild a boomerang and it hits all the people he is fighting. Would be cool.

Giant axes/hammers/swords, around the size of Dharok's, and held the way that you used to hold those. Low speed, average accuracy, huge strength <3:

Also rapiers, katanas, and actual combat staves. Battlestaves don't really fit that.

Could make melee branch off like Magic does, specialize in different styles

I would like a bow that emphasises speed instead of strength. Each attack style should have its own unique style, not just copy the others. Mage causes other effects, melee has strength, range has strength but not as much as melee. I'd love if D'hide gave you a speed boost due to lighter weight and heavy armour slowed you down while running also.

besides that i'd like to see a respectable two handed sword that's not majorly overpowered.

A large two handed hammer is something I think would be useful. A high crush bonus weapon along with high strength bonus. It might be useful pking against someone wearing plate armour.

Also how would you possibly implement a rifle?

Maybe not rifles, but we already have cannons on practically every castle battlement, saltpeter is a well known compound, and, furthermore, the Dwarves have a multi cannon. I can definitely see muskets or arqueburses popping up.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a rifle just a musket with grooves and ammunition that contains the explosive compound?

If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

A magic based weapon that casts multiple unique combat spells, however does not require runes nor does it degrade. The spells you cast shouldn't hit terribly hard nor should they be terribly slow; they would be the savior of combat magic, since the cost of magic in combat is so high. The normal magic spells, however, are still available to anyone wishing to hybrid. Magic is simply and infective style for most combat situations, so this could be a start to give it a boost.

Again with magic, since it has much room to work on, a weapon other than a staff. Why are the only weapons for magic staffs?

I have a spade, a knife, a chisel, a hammer and a needle, yet there is no possible way my character has figured a way to use these in combat? It probably took me nearly 2 to 5 years IRL to figure I could hold a knife and use it against something else (a baby squirrel per chance), yet my account is nearing 7 years and still hasn't figured it out.

Boomerangs.

Bombs.

Guns.

Blowguns.

Link's hookshot.

Weapons chiseled out of ice that melt in 10-30 minutes.

Rat Tails (made out of wrapping cloth, like a towel, and whipping it towards an enemy) IDK, why not.

Stellactic.gif

one handed swords or battle axes that can be comparable to a whip. -.-

I would like to see a giant two-handed crossbow that shoots massive arrows and is really slow but hits incedibly high and has long range, kind of like a musket but I think it would better fit in with Runescape.

Admiral_Caro.png

firstly, to the guy who wanted staves instead of "staffs." They're the same thing, staves and staffs are bothe plural forms of the word staff.

Anyway, I don't see rifles happening, but older guns actual seem very possible. Early guns were very similar to cannons, you poured in powder, wrapped a ball, and added wadding. Then you lit a fuse to fire the gun.

Rifles do indeed get their name from the groove on the inside of the barrel, which cause a bullet to spin while flying through the air. It does this to stabilize the bullet and increase accuracy.

Things I'd like to see:

Dual wielded knives, perhaps one held blade up and one blade down, preferably with curved blades.

slings

kamas

kukhri's

a [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation] you can actually make good use of in combat

lulz Caromon, Like a handheld ballista?

military picks like in diablo 2

A kris bladed longsword

anything that looks more badass and less "i'm designed to be family friendly and nonthreatening"

[hide]

Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.-

[/hide]

Dual weilding certain weapons, such as dragon longswords or daggers, but with limitations, such as spec only works for one, and a bit lower def bonuses.

Enchanted Weapons, not just bolts. Add jewelry to the weapons (Diablo 2 :twss:) and they can get enchanted, or just use plain old runes. Only for a set amount of charges though, and the effects very from # of magic levels and # of runes needed for each enchantment.

Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne.

Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~
