Changes to the Grand Exchange

@Dan3HitU

Recommended Posts

I'll say this 1 more time.

It seems like Jagex is deliberately trying to kill Runescape, just so we switch to Mechscape when it comes.

Either that or Jagex's becoming more stupid by the week.

They hurt a few big time merchants by not showing them what has been traded and making it harder to see what big items fell and rose. Besides that it realy did no harm to anybody. The graphs are nice gives the graph studiers more to look at before buying something.

On another note....

Perfect example of price manipulation:

The 180-day graphs are bugged too- Pick price drops and then choose 180 days, some items on top:

Item .......... Start price End price Total drop

Unpowered orb ... 216 .... 317 ...... -101

Tan cavalier .... 16.5k ..... 24.2k .. -7,673

Notice the minus ( "-" )

The items have gone up in price.

Today, we've made a number of changes to the Grand Exchange feature on the website.

First, the lists on the main Grand Exchange page are now computed by their average daily price change over the last week instead of a single day. This should mean that very low-priced items that rise by 1gp should now no longer appear, which wasn't particularly useful information.

Next, we've amended the time periods that graphs can show. There are now options for 30, 90 and 180 days (the 7-day graph option has been removed). We've also removed the 5- and 20-day average lines from graphs.

Finally, the Most Expensive and Most Traded lists have been removed for two reasons. One, they very rarely changed, so were not particularly interesting, and two, to make room for us to extend the Biggest Price Rises and Biggest Price Drops lists.

Average-20 day line was incredible useful tbh...helps you know when the item is going to change directions.

I really like the new 180 day graphs. It's cool to see what things were priced almost half a year ago. Although like some of you guys I miss the "most expensive items" and "most traded items" lists.

I don't see how this will affect the price manipulating clans, they will still choose whatever they want to manipulate regardless of what the graphs were over a month ago.

if jagex didn't use the '-', it would mean the the item dropped 101 gp. but it actually rose 101 gp.

a negative drop is a rise

+ Saxon is right :P

I'd be rejoicing for this a lot more if the Price Rises/Price Drops columns showed stuff that we'd actually trade, and not stuff that has no real market.

How can they claim it was boring? , i found it the most interesting part! It showed all the items people are normally interested in and also showed the prices of high value items that solo merchers tend to merchant as they yield a greater limit per 4 hours and profit.

Clans never really merched high value items because they could not hold onto them purely for the fact the clan members did not have enough money. So really this as had no affect whatsoever on clan merchanting but has just made it more difficult for solo merchants to pick an item with ease and see the current trends on a 7 day graph! not a 30 day graph!

What use does a 30 day graph have when most of runescape items fluctuate every day!

That's what they wanted to do away with though, the seven day average. Because even if merchants do buy out an item, there is less demand or hype among other players. It makes things more interesting and difficult for the average person in these merchant clans while showing the average 'scaper how static their investment is. So unless these 'scapers are active in the trading community, constantly watching the item they own, there's a slightly smaller incentive to buy or sell on whim.

That stupid... annoying ticker still isn't gone.... -.-

I rarely looked at the GE Databases mainpage so the absence of the Most Traded and Most Expensive categories don't really bother me.

I usually used the 30 days over the 7 days anyway, so that also doesn't bother me.

The load times seem faster, maybe I'm just paying too much attention to it now.

They need to work on the relevance issues of item search, and work on enabling spelling variations as we see on Zybez (i.e. plate and pl8 will bring up results for platebody, platelegs, and plateskirts), since we're quite used to using the shorthand names for items ingame.

So basically they have made it easier for clan channels to manipulate people by not showing accurate data on items , therefore the rising item looks more attractive so more idiots in clan channels buy into it. They have instead made it harder for solo merchants to read graphs effectively.

Way to go jagex.... Help the scum bag merchants and make it harder for the legit ones...

Whats to stop the malicious merchants/manipulators from scraping the data from the GE website and producing their own daily charts?

The Percent Gains for 180 day Price risers is wayyy off.

Mahogany Tables went from 14gp to 380gp, and it only says a 14% rise.

I'll raise you with this!:

Don't be silly, they'd never make them. They'd make a clan first and make randomers joining them do all the work!
