The Bread Slice

The Bread slice So when i was making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for our picnic. I open a new bread the one with 24 or so slices (Look at picture #1 for example) and i grabbed the bread slices from the middle and started making the sandwichs and i wondered why did i grab from the middle how come i didn't make a sandwich from the 1st slice (look at picture #2 for example) whats wrong with that slice So heres my question

 

 

 

 

 

Do you use the 1st slice of bread to make a sandwich when its a brand new bag

 

 

 

do you wait until you get near the end of the bag and put the alike pieces to make a sandwich (the 1st and last slices of bread are the same_

Anyways, I think its because most people don't like to eat the crust, and that's what the first and last slices are mostly made of.

The first and last slices from the bag (the crusty sided ones) I leave because they are just nasty. If i've opened a new bag then I use the first 2 for a sandwhich and if it's not new then I take the middle ones. For toast it doesn't really matter. :thumbsup:

anyways i always get like 3 slices in.. and give the dog the first 2 slices and throw away the last 2 or 1

The first piece is the best. It makes buying sliced bread something to look forward to. :cry:

i eat the entire loaf; generally the two ends get used with the slice next to it. No point being picky when you eat it all :)

I used to give those two to my dog. Now they just make compost.

Picture #2 is just brown bread.. not the crust of the end of a white loaf. I save my ends to make (toasted) garlic bread with spaghetti :thumbup:

 

 

 

 

 

I know it was just to show the difference between the middle bread and the first and last slices

I leave the first and last slices because I had heard that the crust protects the soft and squishy white part bread in the middle. This keeps the soft bread from drying out sooner. When you think about it, it does sort of make sense.

 

 

 

I have no issue with eating the first or last slices of bread. I actually enjoy making a pb+j sandwich with them. ::'

The first and last are worst because they are mostly crust.

 

But I will eat them if I have to.

 

And white bread fails, wheat for the win.

They make good substitute hotdog buns when you fold them. Other than that, my dog appreciates them much more than anyone else around the house.

Alright. On topic.

 

 

 

I eat both the crust and a middle slice because after all, it still is bread. Tastes the same and everything. I guess people don't like it because it makes their sandwich look unsymmetrical?

I through out the first and last piece, or nibble at them. Other than that, I just grab bread from the bag when I want a sandwich, don't care about where it is.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

I don't actually like the first/last slice but if I have to eat them I will make toast out of them.

 

 

 

EDIT: Oh and it doesn't offer that 'softness' that the middle slices/non crust parts have.

Damn right I eat the end bits, they're the best bits.

 

 

 

You guys need to try Scottish Plain Bread - that is some damn nice bread. Plus the end bits are about an inch and a half thick.

Or, if you dont like them, you could toast them [or pan fry], cut them up and then use them as croutons for soup. Toasting is healthier but frying is tastier.

I don't care, I use whatever bread there is, as long as it's not that crap with a [bleep]-load of seeds on it.

Enjoy both the end slices and the middle ones \' Food is hard to come by in my house so I'll eat the end bits.
