3hitm4g3u
Is there a minimum possible yield for herbs when you harvest them? 5 with supercompost and magic secateurs. And with nothing? And do herbs still get diseases?

stonewall337
I hated it at lower levels. Right now I do just herb runs. When I get into something alot, such as slayer/pking/making money by MH/camping I let herb runs slide. I plant marigolds/limpworts and toadflax+snap/rannar in my arms patch. 12pure34
Once in a while I get addicted to it. From 50 to 65 or so, went extremely fast. Due to the cheap price of watermelons back then (2 years ago), I did herbs + watermelons, with willow trees, curry trees. Thing is, it.. was so relaxing. Wether you do 15 minutes of 30 minutes to do an allotment round, it doesn't matter much really. More then 3/4th of the work gets done while you do other things / log out. It is awesome. Currently I reached 70 and I am doing only Snapdragons atm. Invested 4m into seeds, getting 6.5m out of it or something. If watermelon seeds ever get cheaper again, I will become addicted again :D I just love watermelons haha. PS: who wants to buy 3.5k+ strawberries ? :P PS2: I noticed a few posts above someone stated 4 herbs minimal. With magic secrateur and super compost, the minimum is 5, average is about 7-8. About 10% dies if you include My Arm's patch. With all that involved, average ranges anywhere from 6-7 per patch on longterm. Can be higher, can be lower, Statisticly it is around 6.8 I believe. Just a little bit of info.

jimmy_jim
I haven't been a member since about six months after farming came out. It was all the rage then and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a really good money maker, and by the time I cancelled members, I was making 500k-ish a day. The prices of all herbs have dropped substantially since then though :( RIP Michaelangelopolousu can control my tip it account, but youll never control how fine i am!This is by FAR my favorite song: I love N_odie and would never edit his posts! bedman
I used to do it alot, but I'm a freak in getting rounded stats so I stopped at 85 because I didn't feel like getting 90. On top of that, the daily farming, albeit profitable, takes me out of my routine. I mean, bork, battlestaves, penguins, kingdom, and then farming. I'm having a hard time to find time to do other things too :o A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!

That would take over a year. Whereas adding 2 tree runs and 1 fruit tree run each day to that gets it in ~70 days. ~It's Super Effective! Randox
I used to hate the skill more than I do now, though I still dislike it. About the only farming I do is ranarr seeds and watermelons (I get seeds from kingdom). I am often short on laws though, and rarely on normal magics anyways, so the house tabs I would consume would be a waste of time (I make them and use my house as normal teles, plus a glory and tele to canifis). This means I don't set up a whole bunch of patches unless there full of things I don't care about. Herb growing normally means me fishign in Catherby while I babysit my ranarr. Someday I'll work out a whole bunch of things to grow that will allow me to grow what I need to pay the farmers, so I can be self sufficient and not worry about stuff dying. WoodenFruit
Farming It keeps the price of my obsession with Herblore down and before that I farmed for money. I only do herbs, limpwurts, belladonna and coconuts. Oh and the lowest yield without secateurs but with supercompost is always 5 for me. ______________

Zaaps1
Yes, every farming patch has the potential to profit a considerable amount (except hops, which still profit, but a small amount). Herbs: Obvious Flowers: Limps and Marigolds Allotment: Sweetcorn and strawberries Trees: Willow branches Fruit Trees: Coconuts (pretty much all produce, just don't dig up the tree again, same goes with willow branches above. You only profit if you leave the tree there.) Hops: All of um? Bush: Whiteberry and Poison Ivy Special: All specials, except spirit trees, profit. Calquats profit eventually if you don't dig it up ~It's Super Effective! Money Wasted
I used to dislike the skill until I had to get from 58-65 farming for While Guthix Sleeps. I loved it even though I did manage to lose 1m (I grew papaya trees and yews as well as herbs and all the other stuffs) Can't wait to get 70 for varrock diary  I still haven't started farming herbs daily though I plan on doing so soon

12pure34
I'm making a bit of money from farming now but I can't see how people actually make a substancial amount of money from farming. Yesterday I finished my 100 snapdragon seeds. Bought for 4.8m. All the snapdragons eventually sold for 7.2m. Seeds for 20 herb rounds, lasting 15 minutes each at worst, 8 minutes at best. Let us say 12 minutes average. 7.2m - 4.8m = 2.4m Amount of trips: 20 Total time on trips: 240m aka, 4 hours. 2.4m / 4 hours = 600k per hour. Now herb rounds, thats time well spend!! Everyonedies
i used to really dislike the skill. I still dont farm for profit although i have started to enjoy growing things. Im almost 41 farming 58xp away. So ill get it next time around. But what i have come to enjoy is the fact that once you plant it and pay off the farmer to watch it you dont have to do anything so it takes care of it self. Kinda like your kingdom which is another thing i love to do. Just cashed in for 9mil profit on that. http://www.clanhavok.net/
