September 18, 200520 yr Well I've been listening to a lot of music lately, as usual, but in specific I've been thinking a lot about classical music. I've always like it, but for some reason I have no classical pieces on my computer. I have a few soundtracks and whatnot, but nothing that's really appealing. Something I've been listening to lately is Requiem for a Tower...from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers. Just an amazing piece. Some other favs of mine include Exaltation, and Ancient Moon. Now I know you all love classical music, deep down inside, so do me a favour, and share some of those pieces with me  :P AD
September 18, 200520 yr im kinda into the soundtracks right now, i got a few of them. all three lotr soundtracks are pretty good. requiem for a dream is great, sin city is good, war of the worlds and the island are also pretty ok. as for classical music, the only classic cd i have is a beethoven "greatest hits", and it is pretty good. other than that, i just listen to the radio for classical music :)
September 19, 200520 yr Some videogames out there have good classical, even orchestral music. Check Moonlight Sonata from the original resident evil game. :D The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.
September 19, 200520 yr Ancient Moon. How odd is that? that is a song we tryed playing in music class. I listen to use playing it next time we attempt it. Also im not getting it. Im listening to the opening theme to xenosaga, yet i cant figure out most of insturments, yet its an insturmental ocrastra that does all the music for the whole game. Some of the songs sound computerized. If anyone can listen to it, maybe they can tell me the diffrent insturments. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! September 19, 200520 yr Ronda Alla Turka is good. Also its Requiem for a Dream, not tower lol. O Fortuna by Carl Orff is good too. I don't think he's mentioning the title of the movie but the title of a part of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Anyway. Here are some soundtracks that I find really good, not are all classical though. Schindler's List 2001: A Space Odyssey A Clockwork Orange Taxi Driver Reservoir Dogs The Godfather Apocalypse Now Le Fabuleux destin d'Am̮̩̉̉lie Poulain Requiem for a Dream The Matrix Star Wars Indiana Jones L'Innocente Il Gattopardo Rocky (!) Donnie Darko and I will stop now. :P Err...I forgot "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in the West" of course. But every soundtrack by Ennio Morricone is well worth it! Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

September 19, 200520 yr Clair De Lune - Claude DeBussy, off the Ocean's Eleven sountrack. Like it alot. Some of the Rob Dougan of The Matrix Soundtrack is unbelieveable. It's kinda classical.
September 19, 200520 yr Clair De Lune - Claude DeBussy, off the Ocean's Eleven sountrack. The odd thing is... Clair de Lune is really a piano-only piece, and in the movie they have an orchestra as accompanyment. Really weird, but it sounds great both ways. I'll have to second How2pk's opinion on the soundtracks of Am̮̩̉̉lie and Donnie Darko. Other good soundtracks (imho) are Gladiator, Ocean's Twelve, A Beautiful Mind and Pirates of the Carribean. In the light of soundtracks... have any of you listened to Epica's new album, 'The score'? It's supposed to be an ode to soundtracks, and I'd say they've done a pretty good job at that. (thanks to Necromagus for telling me about it ;) ) The LOTR and Harry Potter soundtracks are both quite nice, too. In general, stuff by James Horner is usually very good :). I kind of suffer from a personal hatred towards Titanic, but its soundtrack is okay in general. (just that my sister keeps playing 'My heart will go on' on the piano and trying to sing along, and in the end you're thoroughly sick of it)
September 19, 200520 yr Ecstacy of Gold from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is awesome. Dreaming of that face againIt's bright, and blue, and shimmeringGrinning wideAnd comforting me with it's three warm and wild eyes

September 19, 200520 yr I totally forgot to post general classical music :D Bach - Das Wohltemperierte Klavier. (Well-tempered Clavier) Preludes and Fugas for every key. I played the Prelude #13 myself, but they're all very good. Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata, Sonata Patḫ̩̉̉tique, and another one I forgot the name of. All very good, I played a part of the Patḫ̩̉̉tique as well. Really cool music. Schubert - Die Forelle Amazing piano piece. Bach - Brandenburg Concertoes. One of THE best orchestra pieces ever written. If you like choirs and stuff, obviously the Matteus Passion by Bach. There's plenty of other great classical music, but I can't be bothered looking some up for you at the moment, sorry :P
September 19, 200520 yr Ah sweet. I remember posting about this awhile ago and the good people here helped me find some good classical music! http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=259 ... ight=music Here it be! Hope it helps :P This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

Rainbow do an amazing version of Beethoven's 9th, definately worth checking out. Called 'Difficult to Cure'. September 20, 200520 yr If you feel like crying, then some emo classical music is definetly in order for you. - Plantoon Theme (Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber) - Adagio by Albinoni
September 20, 200520 yr I really seem to like John Cage's works. The pieces he writes give off more emotion to me then the more typical types of classical music. You can get a couple of legal mp3's from this site for free (at bottom of page) http://www.epitonic.com/artists/johncage.html Other then that you will be hard pressed to find any more songs of his without buying albums online (I don't seem to find any of his albums in the city where I live).
September 20, 200520 yr (Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber) I love this. Also check out Angus dei - it's Barber's vocal version of adagio for strings. Great when performed by a decent choir. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
September 20, 200520 yr Tomaso Albinoni's Adagio in G minor gets my vote. The Adagio in G minor has achieved a level of fame such that it is commonly transcribed for other instruments, and used in popular culture (for example, it has had several occurrences as background music for television programs, and as music in advertisements). One example of a transcription is the recording of the Adagio by classical guitarist Dominic Miller, an Argentine born musician who tours with Sting. It should be noted that the Adagio itself is a transcription and reconstruction of a portion of a single movement of a work, most of which is lost. During the 1980s Swedish born guitarist Yngwie J. Malmsteen used the same work, the Adagio in G minor, in the composition Icarus Dream Suite, which he later used live during the intro for Far Beyond the Sun, which can be heard on the Trial by Fire album. It was also used effectively at the very sad end of the film Gallipoli starring Mel Gibson as a World War I soldier. As the quote said, it was used to effectively at the end of that film. I remember when i saw the film, i was actually on a coach, and we were watching it on the way back to the hotel having just visited the world war 1 battlefields in belgium. So thats the best one for me, and if your looking to watch the film with it i reccomend Gallipoli, otherwise, its still pretty cool anyway just to listen to and relax to or whatever, ==ice==
September 20, 200520 yr Chopin does some beautifully peaceful pianissimos - check out Nocturne in E minor. The Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack by Harry Gregson-Williams is also great. Get it cheap on Amazon :) Nobuo Uematsu (the guy that does the Final Fantasy music) also rocks hard. He's got so much brilliant stuff... One Winged Angel; To Zanarkand; Succession etc. Get the soundtracks to Final Fantasy 7,8,9 and 10: you won't be disappointed. Tchaikovsky's works are all excellent; I particularly like the Sleeping Beauty Waltz. Handel's Coronation Anthems are pretty good too.
September 21, 200520 yr I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Apocalyptica yet. It's a Finnish cello band (all members have a classical music education) that started out by playing Metallica covers. In the last few years they've evolved into a very distinct sound of their own. If you look for them in the music stores they'll probably be under metal or alternative. Although they occasionally use other instruments on their later albums, their sound is still defined by the cello. The best album to get would be Reflections or Reflections Revisited (Revisited has a few aditional tracks and a dvd with several live videos and one music video).
