A few years ago, I came to school to see one of my senior friends brought with him a new board game. This game comes from Japan, and is called 'Go' or 'igo' in Japanese. Slowy, I got hooked in the game, and became a ok player. Once he left, the game died out of the school. Today while playing sudoku, I had memories of this game, and picked it up again.

So does anyone here play Go? If so, how good are you, or how often do you play?

Here is information on this game:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_game

And if you all want to play, best play to go is here:

http://www.gokgs.com/

BTW: My name on the KGS go server, is kakuro92, if you all would like to add me

Great place to learn go, if you want to pick it up:

http://www.playgo.to/interactive/

Post away

I have posted some pictures to give a understand of what Go is.

A game on a 19x19

9x9 on capturing stones.

19x19 on stones that are 'alive

Me playing a 13x13 match.

Another edit:

If anyone would like to learn Go, Just PM, and I can get you srtated in 10 mins.

Me and my friends would play all the time my freshman year. It was so fun to see people looking at as saying "What the hell are you all playing?"

It's not really, the thing that does make it hard is the strategy you can play. There are so many, and a game can be decided with one move in the very bigginning of the game. It just looks hard, thats what I though ;)

I have played a little bit; since you sent that server I will try to pick it back up. It is a really fun game, and its so different from must about anything else you will play.

I haven't played, but I know the basics because I was obsessed with Hikaru no Go for some time... Still haven't bought the last 6 volumes though. If you want to read manga about Go and learn some at the same time, it's pretty awesome and strangely addicting.

You made that part sound like this was a new board game, however it has been around for thousands of years. I guess you know that if you read the wiki link, just want to point out it is popular and has been popular in the US for quite a long time.
