NotoriousPSC
A few days ago, I was making my way up the Slayer Tower to finish my Bloodveld assignment. Out of nowhere, I get a private message from some guy who I later find out has a mid level account. He asks me, "Hey do you wanna trade accounts for a day?" Immediately I report him, and apparently Jagex must be good at ending scamming because thats the best he could come up with, presumably. I hate scamming, and account scamming is the only kind I ever see anymore, and its the only thing I ever report. I originally put this in the General Discussion, but it was loscked and they told me it would be better here. This is such afuny story to me I just wanna keep telling people. :D "I am interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos-especially activity that seems to have no meaning"- Jim Morrison
The_Gabe
So you're ranting about 1 occasion that took 20 seconds of your life? Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

Kata_Phfract__the_slayer
once after the ge and tradeing update, someone tryed to scam me by replaceing an obby cape-noted with a black cape-noted. not only did scamer-x chouse the rong player to scam(painfully learnt from buying a rune pick for 20k, and by rune i mean iron :wall: ) but becouse of the updates he could not of done it anyway  epic fail but besides the story the noted simerler item scam was old, the most creative scam i know of was like this. scamer-a yells something like buying (junk item here) for 15k! scamer-b(acting like thay dont know each other) yells selling (same item) for 5k! a would be mercher would see this as an easy 10k so he/she would buy it for 5k but the other player would not buy it thus makeing 5k of something useles. and thats as far as creative scams go i think, with out going overkill and useing irl stuff ect, and i can understand why with all the updates, such as the second trade windo and dragon items nolonger looking the same as there bronze to rune counterpart, scaming from near the start was hard enough and just got harder and harder untill now where scaming more then 10k probaly means your not playing rs. good thing though  I'm a Brony and proud of it! DuckyTheSwan
I love it when idiots pretend to be part of the jagex staff, and need my password to check that that I haven't been botting... That's my favourite scam, especially when you tell them the wrong password (after they've been reported) and they log out and come back angry
Saunamajuri
someone tried to scam my d scimitar, and that was only time anyone has ever tried. He tried to use the 150k - 150gp trick but failed miserably, and by that i mean that it took him 3 times to actually manage to do it properly. "An Amateur practices until he can get it right. Panzerlord
a scammer tried to scam me in f2p a few days ago and said if I gave him my pass in 3 days I'd have members. I told him since all members are rich, I wanted him to give me 5k as proof. He gave me 5k for free, I reported him and logged off  "Don't push me; what's the hurry?" - Imogen Heap

Me_Hate_Libs
It's very difficult to scam anymore because no one can really gain anything. The best they can do is steal an account, but then they can only play it. They can't really ransack them anymore. Most of them gave up. Boris5000
I remember the wildy trick things and 133K 1334 gp tricks. Those were the dark days. and even before that, if you timed it correctly you could remove your items completly... But, the dumb scammers don't know what an update or a grand exchange is, so they try and scam you the old-fashioned way. Because of the stupidness of such players, there are many lulz to be had, and many reports to be made for the stupid computer program has more work to do. ghost4sale1
Well before the trade limit and the coin limit on dropped items, it was relatively easy to scam someone. well, not relatively, actually A LOT easier back in the day of free trade. Also this is before the age "restriction" about having to be 13 in order to play. A lot of people who played runescape, were kids were innocent(some) and gullible. I was one of those kids, except I didn't get scammed except for the time I bought a rare yellow boomerang for 10k. My signature got deleted :( And I lost all the links. Thanks Gandorf61. Gudi
OT: I'm quite glad scammers are getting worse at...scamming  You may think this, but the truth is that Jagex are baby sitting players too much. When it comes down to it, people don't have a clue who is a scammer and who isn't. Jagex have all of these dungeons and crap to try and teach people how to protect their accounts, but no one comes out any better. I could go make a phisher right now and get just as many accounts as i could 4 years ago. The in-game players may be better off but once Jagex is out of the equation it is far easier to fool people now.

You just said: It is no easier, and no harder to scam player out of their accounts then it used to be. Then you say: It is now easier to scam then it used to be. I don't get what you are saying, is it easier or is it the same? I was once scammed out of a Rune scimitar (back in 05-06) , some guy asked to borrow my Rune scimmy, but I said that I would need something in return of equal vaue is case he did not return. So he gave me 6 chocolate dust, and said that is was worth a lot, so being a noob I accepted. The odd part is though, 2 weeks later he PM'ed me saying he forgot to give back my scimmy, and offered to return it, but I declined because I had already bought a new one by then. I don't know weather to consider that as a scam or not :? Oh, a fun fact is that about 3 years latter I used chocolate dust to make Chefs delight M, which sold for 100k . It all balanced itself out in the end :D .
