May 30, 200917 yr Terminator. The new X-Men. I thought it was really good, and the title sequence was one of the best I've ever seen. However, I don't really know the story, and I heard that was a big negative for some people; apparently they changed a lot. Yeah I really liked the title sequence as well - just gave me the shivers for a moment watching it haha.

May 31, 200917 yr I've been doing nothing but watching movies in two of my classes for the last few weeks of school. We've watched Blood Diamond, Thirteen Days (worst of them), We Were Soldiers, and now Band of Brothers (which we won't finish.) The war movies are for AP US History, Blood Diamond was for a religion class. In that class we're now watching some other movie about Africa that I don't know the name of since I missed the beginning. Not a fan of war movies in general but I rather like Band of Brothers. It's a rather well done miniseries. I'm also participating in the Lost Rewatch :D Supposed to start June 1st but I had already started season 1 when they announced it.

Once I start a series though I like to finish it. Also I have rewatched the first season probably 4 times, second season 3 times, and the third season 2. Before each season I used to watch all the way up to it again. So season 1 is getting a little old for me. I'll rewatch the entire series when season 6 comes out on DVD.

May 31, 200917 yr X-Men Origins: Wolverine Oh, this could have been soooo better. Great performances from everybody, though. As far as comic book character portrayals go, Schreiber's portrayal of Sabertooth is up there with Heath Ledger. Star Trek Coming from a non-trekker, this is an excellent space opera. The Big Sleep (Original Cut) I'd always heard that the well-known cut was far superior to the original, and it is, but not nearly by that much. /Email Marketing promo

I learn to understand more of it everytime, and I'm actually starting to see the beauty of it now. :) I saw the second edition of the Criterion by the way. :P He doesn't like Tarantino, dontcha' know ? I do enjoy Reservoir Dogs and to some degree Kill Bill. But Jackie Brown is impossible to get through. If... is a movie by underseen Lindsay Anderson. It's about going against authority. Some light surrealistic touch here and there, and it's so lively. I love it. Thinking about it makes me want to see it again. Two other films I've seen by the same director are O Lucky Man! which is a sorty of sequal to If... (which I think is just as good) and the completely different kitchen sink drama This Sporting Life, which is very strong (I think you'd enjoy this one as well, Dan, but I don't know if it's been released in the UK). It always sounds so promosing. Adapted from David Storey's novel of the same title, THIS SPORTING LIFE is a gritty, unblinking look at life in the coal mining region of Northern England as seen through the eyes of Frank Machin (Richard Harris). Produced by Karel Reisz, who made the acclaimed film about working class life SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING, and directed by Lindsay Anderson, THIS SPORTING LIFE brings realism to both the brutal violence of the Rugby matches it portrays and to the emotional and physical violence in the character's lives. When Frank Machin leaves the mine where he has always worked and signs a contract with a professional Rugby team, he hopes to gain social standing and respect. But he finds the hero worship of the drunken fans distasteful. While the owner of the team praises Machin as his star player in the privacy of the locker room, he snubs him in public. Machin's need to love and be loved is compellingly conveyed by Harris with the same startling immediacy as is his raw physical power. "Then suddenly I cut the scheese, as it happend an old gypschy woman was passing by ... and from then one, I would be always know to be the one who dealt it." Classic. Geoffery Rush as Casanova was perfect casting. Good actor too. Now if they could only fit Joe Pesci in there somewhere ... :-k
