What movie(s) did you last see?

Shawshank Redemption.

Epic film. One of the best I've ever seen.

So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth,

These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf,

Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in,

Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything,

Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel,

Tear up the book and write your own damn rules,

Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got,

And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut,

And realise that the other world that you're always looking for,

Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door,

And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas,

After all, you were put on the earth to do this,

So shine your light so bright that all can see,

Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be.

I saw the terminator for the first time this weekend, if only he is as relentless as my governor like in the movie.

[hide]One question I have is if Kyle Reese died at the end of this movie. How does the future John Connor even meet him? Or will that be explained in the sequels?[/hide]

[hide]Kyle Reese is actually younger than John Connor. John meets Kyle in the future, and sends him on a one way trip back in time to protect Sarah Connor, though whether he knew he was his father I don't know. It's very possible that John intended for him to die in the past after serving his purpose, or else the timeline would be [bleep]ed.[/hide]

I dunno, Terminator Salvation pretty much explained it all, but watch them in order.

Another good month, there's also a lot of shorts in this list, which makes the list a little longer than usual.

As it was halloween last night and me and some of my friends had no money to go to a party where you need to dress up, we had a small halloween movie marathon :P

We watched The Grudge (Japanese version with subs), 28 Days Later, One Missed Call and Dead Set (on E4, not really a film but thought i'd mension it).

We wanted to go the whole night into the morning but couldn't because it was late notice >.< We had enough films though...

Those lasted us until just after midnight...

So how do you go about seeing those shorts? Was it like a festival at a cinema somewhere, or did you find them online?

I watched the commentary for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which has been one of the more enjoyable commentaries I've listened to. I expected Robert Downey Jr. to carry the commentary because he had with the Tropic Thunder one, but it was actually Val Kilmer who carried it.

Right after that I wanted to see more Michelle Monaghan so I watched Eagle Eye which is a pretty generic action movie. Enjoyable but nothing special.

Nope, unfortunately not. It's all on DVD. Most of them are Brakhage shorts from the By Brakhage DVD. If you're have some kind of interest in avant-garde and experimental films this set is a must.

They didn't do the Monster Movie Marathon this year, so we went and saw a couple of other movies.

Couples Retreat- It was alright. It started boring but got better. 6/10

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant - It was better than I thought, but I still think they could have done better than John C. Reilly. 8/10

How was the vampire's assistant? I love the Cirque de Freak book series, when I heard the film however, I am worried is going to be like a teen drama but with VAMPIRES in it or something like that. Is it worth watching? Did they change alot of plot?

In other news, I just finished watching where the wild things are, with my six year old brother. I thought it was kiddish, but then again I am probably not the target audience for this film.

I haven't read the books yet, so I have no idea if much was changed, but I would suggest seeing the film for yourself. I liked it, but having not read the books, I had no idea of what it would be and therefore had no bias when it came time for an opinion.

And as Where the Wild Things Are is based on a children's book, I believe it makes sense for it to be "kiddish".

I'm watching the Director/Writer commentary for all three Lord of the Rings movies. Lots of interesting stuff in there, although I am only a little over halfway through the second movie (about 6 hours done so far) and it's getting a little boring. I like interesting commentaries, but I usually prefer entertaining/funny commentaries. Supposedly the cast commentary is the funny one for this trilogy. I'll watch those eventually.
