Mother Gaia: An In-Depth Manual to Farming

Well if it really is like that, then I'll just start herb farming right away.

Just got 38 farming so I've included toadflax in my allotment run. Better than ranarrs imo because of the low seed cost.

Thank you!

Well higher seed cost is good because you can use scroll of life more effectively. If you don't have one, then it should technically make no difference, but I know what you mean.

No problem.

Coconuts are the best profit? I thought Papayas were o.O

Great guide, I need to get back into farming so this is kinda helpful. I haven't trained it much except to clear some bank space - hell, I did varrock hard diary at 65 farming lol. Farming is 1 of my 2 skills below 70 and its getting annoying because its such an easy skill to train too.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

Prices have changed since I wrote that statement, so if Papayas are best now, then it's wrong. Can you please point out where that is for me?

Thanks :)

Elder Tree: Level 99+

Why did I add this? One reason and one reason only: herb farming. Even after 99 farming I high recommend you continue to herb farm. It is terrific money and a nice distraction from the normal xp grind of your daily activities.

In addition, you should plant your patches to allow the maximum profit when you go around and harvest them (but not replant them). Many of you may choose not to do this since it would be a waste of time to go on farming runs just to harvest stuff like coconuts and willow branches. But you should have them planted. When you run around doing your normal Runescape activities, you may find yourself harvesting those patches for some quick money. Heading toward the Brimhaven dungeon for a task? Why not pick your coconuts and add a few extra coins to your task profit? Remember you can note them, so it really only takes 1 space.

Max profit:

-Willow trees -> Willow Branches

-Palm tree -> Coconuts

-Herbs

-Marigold

-Sweetcorn

-Poison Ivy bush

Oh, and congratulations on 99 farming <img src='http://forum.tip.it/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_upup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />:' />

Okay, how are you people haxing 50+ herb runs? I've topped out at 34 herbs per run (not doing Trollhiem). As far as I know Trollhiem doesn't add 16+ herbs....

Anyway, I'm 90 Farming, mostly do Toadflax, but other seeds I get from slayer, td's, etc. Is there some sort of cap/limit as far as harvesting higher level herbs go that I'm unaware of?

You don't get 50 herbs per run and at your lvl you know that. The guide says 30 herbs... and I average between 27-32 per 4 patches when no herbs die.

BTW, great guide! I always turn back to it whenever I take up farming again, one of the best skill guides I've seen, if not the best.

Thanks!

50+ runs aren't an average, they're a record. They only happen rarely, so getting one is all luck.

There have been multiple posts of people achieving 50+ herb runs. And at 90 Farming, I just found it curious that I've never gone over 34 from 4 patches. If I wasn't on Lunar all the time, I would go to Trollheim a lot more often.

You should try to use the backdoor entrance to Trollhiem. It takes an extra minute or two, but it's better than not going to that patch at all.

It's all luck, remember, and I don't recall getting any 50+ runs until about level 90 either. Just keep farming, when you get your first, they won't seem so hard to get after that ;)

You mean the route from the Relleka side? Completely overlooked that lol. I should add that after Phasmatys, since the Fairy Ring is a short distance away...

The way I see it, either you have a Slayer Ring to get there fast, or you don't and have to use Fairy Rings (or maybe even Lyre from Relleka). If you have to use Fairy Rings, it would be quicker to teleport back to the Ectofuntus and run to the Ring than run from the farming patch to the Ring. Thus, it really doesn't matter where you put it in your run, because either way (if you use Fairy Rings), you are going to teleport using the ectophial.

  • 2 weeks later...

hey, i've noticed that in your bush's section you said for the bush patch near the kandarian monastery the best way to get to it was the fairy ring teleport, this is not the case, with ardy cape 3 you have unlimited teleports to the kandarian monastery which is about 6 squares away from patch.

I like to think of the Dark Bow like a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) - you get one shot and then you're screwed.

It's actually mentioned in the bush run setup and it's in the title of that step.

I CAN delete the post, but it's not necessary to do so in this case. I'm glad you figured out your problem, though.
