I wanted to start up a lively discussion about which combat type is best: Melee, range, mage, tank range, tank mage, pures, or any others you can think of.

I think this is more a topic for Questionnaires.

Anyhow, I don't like combat that much but If I'd have to choose: Melee

I would say either range or magic. Range was my first ever 99 and a skill I look forward to progressing further. It was a skill I wanted to master ever since Snake Slava did it. Magic is the main skill on my mind to level currently though. Melee just never really interested me. Seems like every third player and his brother think their strength is the be-all end all.

Range. I hate it. But you can't fight the fact that it is the best, and most useful combat type :/

Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.

Magic. It can poison, freeze, halve your attack speed, the caster can heal himself through the use of Blood spells, it can lower your attack and strength level, can teleblock etc. It has AoE spells and a maximum hit of 62 and it's very accurate (even on dragonhide).

Melee, most "reliable". No worrying about running out of bolts/runes. Just need a HUGE sword to slice n' dice.

I always end up frustrated with range and mage, melee is probably my favorite, although I don't train combat that often.

Get ratty.

I'd say range because of range armour. It gives good defence against everything, and arrows/bolts can pierce melee armour pretty easily and can have a great attack speed, and if needed, can extend its range. Its also considerably less expensive then magic and much more versatile. Melee requires you to be next to someone, which is extremely disadvantageous when pursuing someone.

Melee starts off best, Becomes only ok, and then is the best again. Plus its easy and cheap to train.
In fact, I do have some pancake mix.

Statistically, melee. However, I like Magic the best.

I think melee is the best, but range and summoning are my favourite.
