Alching or autoing

Guest Timmos

I was in varrock east bank, high alching some junk that had been sitting in my bank for quite a while. Where some idiot begun bombarding me with questions. As i knew if i answered he was not going to go away, so i ignored him as if my chat were off.

Much to my dismay, he begun spamming me calling me an "autoer", which began to draw some attention.

To shut him up i finally replied, that i am not botting and i'm simply ignoring him

Now when i thought that the matter was settled another player pointed out "how did i type that without stopping alching.

High alch's take roughly 3 seconds per cast, so i could think i could get a full sentence typed out, with only 1 pause (to click alch) so 6 seconds for a sentence. How is that so unbeleivable...

Soon enough the whole bank was against me. To quote "your a noob to bot to level 134" and "I bet he's having fun on that account"

My defence was: Do you really think a botter would be able to get 2000+ total and 170 mill total xp without being banned?

So i'd like to know, who honestly here thinks if you type and alch at the same time. Your autoing.

;-( Your mistake was answering. Dont worry you can learn from your mistakes and next time just ignore them. Trust me. More times than not. They will go away. If not - Its rare and just try your best to ignore them and let them waste their time.

Ofcourse its not.

I have had people accuse me of 'autoing' whiling moving around runescape doing different tasks.. So.. yeh.. Ignore them.

Sometimes you can reply but personally anyone who is rude or such to me I ignore. Its not rl and I cant do much about it if someone decides to be rude to me. I learnt enough from past experiences its pointless and easier to ignore them.

You're referring to a group of people within community who tries anything for the betterment of themselves, not caring at other people's expense. Ever try PvPing where you're called a safer for eating past 2hp? The best bet is to just ignore them, and if they report you, nothing will happen because Jagex has ways of detecting bots. Since you are not, you won't receive any punishments.

Oh yeah, I'm in no way possible worried about how many reports were made against me. I'm sure with all my years of playing i've been falsely reported my fair share of times.

It just frustrates the idiocy of some players.

And yes, i've been in pvp worlds before, i keep chat off when on them now.. (edit, i don't want to turn this into a rant =p)

Jagex CS can be stupid, though.

I got reported for offensive language once when something got accidentally bleeped while I was IMPERSONATING a stupid person (the report picture specifically shows quotes over everything I was saying), and I got permanently banned (although that was quickly repealed).

Note that I was previously an RSOF forum mod for nine months, and had zero black marks up to that point.

A tangentially related thread that was previously up around here would be the 'Waste?' thread.

I too have never had a black mark or mutes or any sort of warnings.

From rumours speculating some while ago, I believe Jagex receive a true transcript of the chat, before the filter blocks the words.

I mean this would be logical...

I'll confirm that with a pmod when i get on though.

A pmod won't be able to confirm anything since they're not jagex employees.

I often type with my left hand while playing with my right, especially when alching.

The 'evidence' that I was allowed to view was a screenshot of the game from the time of the report.

Hmm, Touch'e. I'm not sure then.

I'm possitive Pmods are given a run down on general processes.

I agree with bazzaminxer, your mistake was answering. You should have just started chasing him around with a rubber chicken. Your productiveness drops to 0 for a minute or two, but it's funny and it usually does the trick. ;)

Either that or you could move into the country and eat a lot of peaches (a cookie to whoever gets that reference without using google).

some accused me of being an auoter because I had 99 fishing and "no-one could ever do that without cheating"

I've had the same accusation logged about getting 99 wc

And 90 mage

and 85 mining

and 85 agility

People are idiots when it comes to botting. In the past months I've been cooking, I've probably been called a botter for over a hundred times. As soon as you don't respond within 10 seconds, they automatically assume you're botting.

Solution: don't argue with an idiot, just ignore them.

You have two hands I assume so you just say that you can type with one hand and click with the other hand. Thats nothing big and I often do it while firemaking. And I can't remember anyone who called me an autoer for that.

I just keep my public chat on friends.

I don't give a crap if some noob thinks that I'm autoing because I won't talk to him/her.

I had the exact same thing happen to me in thzaar fight pits, it's like people think you alch with 2 hands. Even though i told them i had a ball mouse with the ball plugged in to alch and was typing with my left hand, they had a 1 track mind.

Im chopping willows and once in a while people come and randomly accuse you of botting. You talk and they shut up, this happened in all the cases that i was asked. People assume if you are doing something related to gathering ressources that you re a bot. Of course, im also suspicious of some people that i chop trees with are bots. Some have the basic look and take long time to do random events or choppong a new tree after the last one fell.
