Those first few days after the quest were so exciting. TDs were insanely easy (due to the glitch where they tried to melee but couldn't, so they just stood there), and with the crossbow -> darklight and halberd -> darklight quick switch, you never had to get within range.

 

 

 

You are pretty lucky, though. I've only gotten three plate piece drops... and I have to keep myself away from TDs now so I can train slayer.

Omfg I freaking raged.

I've looked G/a for about a year and this is by far the best post I've seen.

Thanks! It shouldn't be too hard. If nothing else works, you can always trap the north center demon on the huge rock while killing the northeast demon (as I did in my 4th and 5th pair of claws) - it's probably the safest spot out there. Good luck!

I'd guess 1.4k according to my "drop rate" for claws - I have to say it felt more like 1.6k-1.8k though. I really have absolutely no clue how many kills I did before logging though - I had a huge dry streak which I wish I had recorded. :( But yeah, I think you're in the lucky zone lol. I don't know when your luck will burn out - but even after it does, they should give you a fairly common drop rate. (I wouldn't complain with a 1/200 drop rate with the price claws are at lol.)

Haha, good luck! The no-safespot only applies to the north-center spot, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended - there was problems with the way monsters moved with the last game engine update as well. I don't know if Jagex is going to fix it, but even if they don't, you can always use the southwest spot or entrance spot.

 

 

 

Good luck with the 1k kills goal! I had wanted to reach about 2k kills myself, but I started getting bored, and wanted to end membership for a while. And good luck at getting 2-3 claws in one trip - I've seen a duo with three in one trip, but never a solo. =P~ Maybe you can be the first.

:wall: I know how that feels (well kinda). I think you should keep at it, and as I said to someone else, log your kills (if you aren't already). Logging gives you an exact number of how many you've killed.

 

 

 

If you've logged your kills/you're still dry after logging 400+ kills, try duos. At least then you can share your bad luck/your partner can share their good luck lol. Good luck! :)

OMG. I remember those days! :thumbsup: I loved the range/darklight trick! I never really knew what was meant by when they tried to melee but couldn't - I always used DHally diagonally, so they couldn't hit me anyway.

 

 

 

People say I'm lucky, but I think there are luckier. :P When I catch up to the guy with 30+ claws, I'll officially declare myself lucky. Until then, I'm average. You should consider taking a break from slayer to do TD's though! I do a bit of both (90 slayer and 14 claws), leaning more to the TD side of course. If this makes you feel better - Jagex hasn't nerfed the claw drop since it came out, only the fragment drops (because they were dropped ridiculously often). It's fixed now sadly. You could do it with the latest update by dropping "destroyables" while banking. They'd end up on the floor, and you'd have about 1 minute to get a replacement and pick up the one you dropped.

Congratz on the spear! I got one of those a few days ago actually lol.

 

 

 

All you need for TD's is melee and range. You could always duo and be the meleer, or if you really don't wanna do that, you should chin up to 85 range, which is sufficient enough to solo at a decent rate. Good luck!

I actually read most of your story.. which was rather long to be honest. I can say that it inspired me to go out and do some major questing (which I do not particularly like doing) so I can kill TD's as well. In January I will try to max my QP's from 208 to whatever the max is now (287?) Thanks for the inspiration. Mainly I want that 400k exp from WGS.

:lol: Yes, they are amazing! 1 pair, and you'll already have enough to upgrade from a whip to a godsword! (Well not an SGS right away, but you get my point lol.) 3-4 pairs, and you'll have 99 prayer banked. So yes, the cash comes in [relatively] quickly there. ;)

Sorry if I raved about dry streaks. :-# Like I said, I felt my post got ranty towards the end. I didn't intend to get any pity for my dry streaks - the reader, as well as myself, both saw how the dry streaks were made up for in the end.

 

 

 

However, I honestly don't believe I'm lucky. And while 900 kills may not be enough to truly determine the drop rate of claws, you have to keep in mind that by watching the slow increase of kills from 0 all the way to 900, I saw some items trending towards similar numbers to each other, constantly passing each other and often at times having very close numbers of drops. One set was Herbs, Seeds, and Rune Maces. Another was all 3 ruined dragon pieces (clearly, unless you want to make the argument that one piece is more common than another). Another was Claws, Rune Chains, Rune Meds, and Prayer Potions.

 

 

 

Those trends are where I get my belief that my drop rate should be fairly accurate. I do not firmly stand besides a 107 drop rate - like I said, it can be anywhere from 80 (which I highly doubt) to 140 (which I'm leaning towards). I do believe I got a bit lucky towards the end. I do not, however, agree with a 200 rate of claws - if that were so, I'd expect a lower rate for Rune Chains, Rune Meds, and Prayer Potions as well.

 

 

 

Like I said, I can't obviously prove myself as right. But I can't agree with you either, unless you recorded every drop of every single kill. Unless it's documented, you can't prove it. Sorry I seem like a total douche right now, but that's the truth. #-o I can believe you if you had a counter to add 1 kill for every single demon you killed. However, I can't see every drop you got, so I can't see if perhaps your luck tended towards the other rare drops, or you got less rare drops completely, or whatever the problem was.

 

 

 

Whatever the case is, whether I'm right or you're right, or we're both wrong, I do wish you the best of luck at TD's. I'm sorry if I came across to you as ridiculously lucky - maybe I am and I just can't see it. I know a lot of people think I'm lucky. And there are other people who are lucky. Perhaps certain people just get better luck than others at certain places. Whatever is the case, whatever your luck seems to be at, and whatever you enjoy doing - stick with it. I feel I was a bit bitter in my last post.

 

 

 

I did dozens and dozen of solo TD trips, hoping to get D Claws, but I never got anything more than the slice I got duo when no one else knew all the solo strategies.

 

 

 

I saw many of my high level friends get dozens and dozens of these things, making several billion, while I got nothing. Needless to say I quit after a few weeks.

 

 

 

Later I picked it up again, I would do one solo trip every now and then. What really took the mick was when I went on a trip to teach some friends how to kill them, then they hopped worlds and got claws as their second or third drop ever.

 

 

 

Part of the reason I quit RS even while at level 138 with a very high skill total was Jagex's lack of high-level content that's repeatable and that gives steady, not streaky profits.

This post alone inspired me to turn the joke of "do wgs and get rich" into a reality, at least the first part anyway. I spent a week and 3 days questing for the sole purpose of doing wgs and soloing tormented demons. I am now fairly good at soloing them but have not been lucky with my drops. I hope to get some claws or a lump soon. Wonderful post 10/10 :thumbsup:

you do have to account for the total randomness of the drop system. In theory you could get 5 claws in 5 kills but the odds of that are almost impossible(and probably impossible depending on how it is coded)
